The course has an excellent layout. The fairways left much to be desired, HOWEVER, it is February. Roll with the punches. Did get tired of pen placement today. All 18 flags were within four feet of the edge of the green. Wouldn’t mind eight or ten around the fringe, but all 18 is a bit much. I love playing the course, we make it a “must play” every time we visit Florida.

Course is in excellent shape. You use every club in your bag. No hole is the same. Greens and surrounds are excellent. Bermuda in the summer, love it.

Hilton Head National Golf Club
Played On 8/19/2013One of the best layouts on HHI. Excellent shape. True greens. In spite of recent rains, fairways were in great shape
A must play. Has everything you look for when you play golf. Wide fairways off the tee box, but be careful because some approaches demand position in the fairway. The greens run true, but read them well. There are subtle breaks. Last comment: if it has rained recently, follow the USGA'S advice and play the forward tees. The blue tees are almost 6200 yards, you will get no roll. On the par 4's, your second shot will usually be a long iron or a fairway wood. Using the forward tees gives you a chane.to use your mid and short irons. Highly recommended course for women. This course is not a pushover. Some holes are easy and straightforward, but most will challenge your entire game.

The course is in great shape. Requires course knowledge in club selection. When we started the round, we asked the Starter the local rules on balls hit into hazards. He said "stroke and distance" assuming you have a ball out of bounds or lost ball. As we played the course we discovered 90% of the hazards were marked with red stakes. You should hit a second ball if you think the first is lost, but chances are good that you will be able to play under the "red stake" rule,
Thank you for the review and choosing Oyster Reef.
