Falling River Country Club
Played On 06/10/2017A gem in Central Virginia
Cannot believe nobody has reviewed this course. Very nice course and well worth the great price you pay. Great pace of play, slower players will actually let you play through. Staff service is excellent along with a course in great shape. 10 straight par 4's from holes 5 through 14 makes it interesting.
Bedford Country Club
Played On 06/03/2017Hilly 9 hole course
First time playing, decent course with a lot of hilly terrain with long par 3's and 4's. Club selection and course management are keys to a good score here.
Thistle Golf Club - Cameron Course

Played On 05/29/2017Top Notch
Thistle is about as good as it gets, and I've played a lot of courses. Played in the Memorial Day Captains Choice, only negative due to no fault of their owns was the greens due to wrong chemicals being applied, but I know they will return to former high quality greens once corrected. Great course, staff, and amenities, can't go wrong. First class all the way.
Legends Golf Resort - Parkland Course
Played On 05/28/2017Solid but challenging course
My least favorite of the 3 Legends courses. Long par 3's and 4's, coupled with a wet day. A lot of foot traffic made for a longer round than usual. Still a good course, but challenging. Would not play it if you are just getting back into the game.
Montgomery Bell State Park Golf Course
Played On 04/21/2017Great Deal
This course was well worth the drive from Nashville. Very quaint and quiet course, wildlife views and a well maintained tree lined course. Sometimes my playing partner and I only heard the birds chirping. Putting greens were trickier than you would think, but were very well maintained. It was easy to book and you could book for one player if you're in Nashville on business or a convention.
Gaylord Springs Golf Links
Played On 04/20/2017Solid Course, Service needs improving
It was like an act of Congress to book a tee time with these folks if you're a solo golfer, good luck. I was able to walk in on Friday and was paired with 3 other singles, and it was a great round. Hats off to the Superintendent who had the course in super shape in spite of all of the rain, and the starter who got us paired and was super kind. Very challenging course, make sure you select the right tee box, par 4's play long. Critical of those booking a tee time and the girl working the snack bar, too busy stocking items instead of immediately waiting on us at the turn. Only suggestion since you're associated with Opryland and host conventions on a continual basis to allow singles to book an advance tee time, other than that, my compliments, a very nice course.
Hermitage Golf Course - The General's Retreat
Played On 04/19/2017Solid Course
Staff very friendly, just walked on and was able to play. Course very fair, rewarded good shots, penalized not so good, the way it should be. The only suggestion I would make would be to allow single golfers to book a tee time (currently requires 2), and with Nashville having a lot of conventions, etc., this should not be a problem. Other that that, very good course at a reasonable price of it's quality. Nice pro shop workers, starters, and clubhouse staff.
Shaftesbury Glen Golf & Fish Club
Played On 04/01/2017Great Fairways
This is one of my favorites in the Strand. Fairways extremely nice and holds drives that hit the fairway. Pace of play a little slow, but staff and course were exemplary. Always look forward to playing this beauty. A little inland and off the Strand path, but well worth the trip.
Glen Dornoch Waterway Golf Links
Played On 03/05/2017One of the Better Grand Strand Courses
Well maintained, a little windy and the greens were somewhat slow, but course was in great shape. Cool day and winds come off Intercostal waterway, so you need to adjust. Depending upon your tee box several holes will require you to use a fairway metal or rescue, so pay attention. I've played almost 50 Grand Strand courses and it's one of the best, will play as often as I get a chance.
Barefoot Resort & Golf - Norman Course
Played On 03/04/2017Course Marshalls Needed
Good course and value, lot of sand and waste areas. Only issue I/we had was a group in front of us that was way too slow and the course marshalls were not to be found or did not say anything to the group in front of them. The group was slow all day, first tee each member of the foursome hit 2 shots each while we were waiting and teed off 15 minutes past our scheduled start and nearly got confrontational with our group, and I was playing with 2 members. Other than that, it was fine, prefer the Love course over this though.
Wintergreen Resort - Stoney Creek Monocan/Tuckahoe
Played On 02/20/2017Pace of play had to wait and had people pushing us. Thought they would have had the snack shop or cart girl out given the ski resorts were closed due to the nice weather. Young man at the bag drop was very nice and friendly. Thought the pin placements were unfair for February, would have been good for a club championship. Anyway, very beautiful and scenic course, will be back.
International Club of Myrtle Beach
Played On 02/19/2017Solid Course
Other than pace of play, today it was fine. One of the better courses in the strand. Greens are very nice. My playing partner and I were waiting to start the second nine, but we got back out in 10 minutes. Recommend this course.
Legends Golf Resort - Heathland Course
Played On 02/18/2017Solid Legends Course
As usual with Legends courses, great value for price including cart, breakfast, lunch, and two beers. Also was a wide open course, good for taking a guest who has not played in a while. Will be back.
Hanging Rock Golf Club
Played On 02/12/2017Great for price
Good course for the money. Very friendly staff. Green speed tricky.
