Eagle Nest Golf Club
Played On 04/23/2019Nice course, very playable
The course was in reasonably good shape, but the recent top dressing on the majority of the greens was disappointing - making it all but impossible to hole any putts. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable day. The course plays fairly short (white tees), other than hole 16 (long par 4), which is best played as a short par 5 (you will definitely make more 5s than 6s that way). Apart from the top dressed greens are only other comment would be about the placement of the tees. My wife usually plays off the forward (red) tees, but she found these to be much too far down most fairways, with the next set of blocks generally too long. So the recommendation would be to play a mix of these based on overall hole length.
Sandpiper Bay Golf & Country Club - Sand Nine
Played On 04/22/2019One of the best value courses in the area
The course was in close to perfect shape, and with a good pace of play it made for a great day. The fairways were lush and the greens were soft and a good speed, with the ball rolling true. The course is very playable, with only a couple of holes (on Sand and Piper 9s) that offer any significant level of difficulty. The par 3s were especially well designed. For the $, there is not much else in the area that can compare or offer better value. A must play. We`ll e back next year.
Blackstone Golf Course
Played On 04/17/2019Nice course, and good value - needs a little work
First of all, this is a very good value course (especially if you are a senior). However, despite many of the reviews here, we found the course to (currently) be in average shape at best, with the fairways and tees needing a little work. Nevertheless, the course plays well, and despite the recent top dressing, the greens were fast and true. There is a (dry) creek that runs throughout the course and crosses several holes, so if you have not played here before, you need to pay attention.
Emerald Bay Golf Club
Played On 04/15/2019Perfect afternoon
I took my own advice from my previous round, and played a combo of III and IV tees. The wind was also down making the longer holes much more playable. The course also benefited from some rain the day before. Playing early afternoon was a good choice as we were able to get around in 3-1/2 hours. Overall, an excellent day of golf!
Emerald Bay Golf Club
Played On 04/12/2019Good challenge
The course was in relatively good shape, with some fairways and greens a little sparse. Course plays long, with water (in play) on many holes, and can be quite challenging if windy (which it was). For average golfers would suggest playing off mix of III and IV tees, using the more forward ones (IV) on longer holes.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass along your feedback to the staff so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting us!
Links at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort
Played On 04/11/2019Convenient location, and relatively good shape for April
Generally, the course was in good shape. The tee blocks need some work, but the greens were near perfect - albeit a little to slow for my liking. However, make no mistake this is a target golf course best played with long irons or fairway woods off most holes to avoid the water (of which there is plenty). The front nine plays a little easier, with the back nine much more difficult. If the wind is up (which it was when we played), some of holes on the back are almost unplayable.
Oakcreek Country Club
Played On 10/19/2018Great course when visiting Sedona
It was a near perfect day for golf, and while the pace was a little slow, we were able to get ahead after nine. The course was in immaculate shape, with super fast (and tricky) greens. The hole length and designs were fair and quite playable (although as an older course obviously laid out for righties that cut the ball, it brought the neighbouring properties into play for me as a lefty). Nevertheless, i managed not to do any damage, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable day.
Verrado Golf Club - Victory Course
Played On 10/17/2018Not too be missed
Wow - this new course is incredible and should be on your must play list while in Phoenix/Scottsdale. The pace of play started out quite slow (given that we has one of the first several tee times), but after we got thru the problem foursome after the 5th hole, it was smooth sailing. Some of the best par 5s I have ever played, and several excellent par 3s. Overall, it's a great course design and in excellent condition. Unfortunately, it was quite windy, so several par 4s on the front were unreachable. Nevertheless, we had a great day - and easily our best day of golf while in Scottsdale.
Rancho Manana Golf Club
Played On 10/15/2018Great Golf Course - Excellent Value
We played early, and while a little cool to start it was a near perfect day by the time we finished the third hole. The course was coming out of over seeding, so the greens were a little slow, otherwise it was in near perfect condition. Not overly long, but a little narrow in places, yet quite fair. A couple of excellent par 3s on the front. A very enjoyable round.
Talking Stick Golf Club - O'odham Course
Played On 10/13/2018Great Resort Course
Great layout and appropriate level of challenge for a resort course. It was in great shape and enjoyable to play. Unfortunately it rained for much of the round; nevertheless after a 40 minute wait for rain we were able to finish our round. It was nice to get dry towels after nine. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly. Hope to play here again someday (when its sunny).
We appreciate your feedback! Thank you for the 4-stars. We hope to have you back in the future.
