Course is coming Back

As a former member of Sea Oaks I was glad to see the course re-opened as LBI National. I have played there several times since it re-opened and the course is coming back well after a multi-year layoff. It will take some time but the course is playing well. I would prefer there were more membership options published and have tried contacting the email address provided for memberships but have received no reply. I would stay away from the most expensive tee times given the course conditions but for $60 - $75 a round it is well worth it.

Great conditions

The staff and members of QuIl Run do a great job of maintaining a great environment and excellent course conditions. My first time playing and if I was a resident of Naples I would consider a membership.

A Lot of Golf Course

I hadn't played Atlantis in over 15 years but just moved to the area and I am giving the local courses a try. Given the wet conditions in SE Jersey and the fact that most courses are mushy, Atlantis is in good shape. A couple of holes had some wet areas but overall using some common sense you can get around in a cart nicely. I was reminded by playing this course 3 times in the last 10 days what a great layout it is. I played the middle (white) tees and had all that I could handle at 6432 yards. It was very challenging for this 66 year old and I have not been able to get out of the 90's. With the summer crowds gone it is a great time to get out. With all of the resort style courses available don't be afraid to give this Fazio designed Ocean Count course a try.

Challenging Layout

I played Blair for the first time in about 20 years and was reminded what a challenging golf course it is. Tight, unforgiving fairays on many holes, together with severe punishment for the slightest mishit make it a good test of your skills. The design of the course is very clever and it is suprisingly difficult.

The fairways and sand hazards are below average and I did not notice any irrigation for the fairways. Some areas had crabgrass and other spots in the fairway were burnt out. However I did rate the conditions as average because the greens were in great shape and had some speed to them.

If you offended by the somewhat "rustic" fairways and hazards this course is not for you. But if you are willing to just play it as it lies and enjoy the true 1930's design of the course, you can have a great time. It was a weekday and the course was not crowded and I finished 18 holes in about 3 hours playing as alone with a cart. It was very relaxing and enjoyable and I will be back.

A Great Surprise!

What a good 9 hole golf course that I just played 18 on. I took my grandson who just turned 9, and my son-in-law, and we had a blast. The initial attraction were the green, or beginner tees, which were well placed allowing my grandson (who normally plays the red tees) to have par and birdie putts (he made one). The greens were a bit slower than the other courses at the Resort but were fine and maintained well. The holes gave the impression of being wide open but there was enough trouble to punish a wayward drive but I couldn't help but pull out the driver.

I did not know what to expect with "foot golfers" playing at the same time but in reality they play very fast and from different tees to different targets. There are 5 sets of tees for golfers and you can make it as challenging as you want - up to 7200 from the tips for 18. Conditioning was great and the people are friendly and helpful. To make things even better, we played under their "family golf" promotion and it cost $90 for the three of us - I was expecting to pay more.

I will be back.

Excellent Course

I live within 25 minutes of Bowling Greem yet this was the first time I played. Course was in great shape but some of the greens were a touch slow since they had recently been sanded. The layout was great, requiring good straight drives to avoid the wooded areas on both sides of many holes. The greens fees are somewhat pricey but the course and good play time (just under 4 hours) are a pleasure. And of course you can look for deals on GolfNow - most of them in the afternoon.

An excellent challenge, and I will play this course again.

Always in Great Shape

The Lake/Club combination provides a great variety of holes and is kept in great shape with all the water present on the course. I have been playing there for over 20 years and have never been disappointed by the shape of the course. If you are a big hitter try the blue tees - and bring some extra golf balls! Only compliant is that the greens are little slower than my liking, but very playable. One of my favorites in the area.

Improved but needs some additional care

I have lived near the course for 38 years and the greens now are the best they have ever been. My improvements would be to restore and add to the sand bunkers and bring back the long downhill tee shot on the 9th hole.

This is an executive course, and changing the 215 yard 4th to a par 4 and the 400 yard 6th to a par 5 was not necessary. The dogleg 6th par 4 was one of the most challenging holes in the area.

Decent executive course, could be a great one with a few changes and some investment. Hopefully the current manager is working toward this end.

Excellent Condition and Views

I played this course several times in the Summer and Fall of 2012 and enjoyed the layout and the views. You have to play it once or twice due to a couple of unique hole layouts, but it is very manageable once you know it. The fairways and greens are in excellent shape, and it has the best views of any NJ course I have played. Big hitters will have an advantage on a few holes, but the course relies more on accuracy and positioning. Bring your short game! One of my favorite courses in the area and I plan to play it frequently.

Well conditioned with an emphasis on accuracy

Nice course with very good conditions. Sand and moguls in spots, plus a few narrow fairways make the course a good challenge. Much more of a shorter shot makers course than a Wild Turkey which is longer but more open, but not as difficult as Crystal Springs. You can find some excellent deals on weekdays (which is when I play) making it a bargain.

A Shotmaker's Course

This course was not designed just for the long hitters. The biggest advantage is to the golfer that you can use all of the clubs in the bag. You have to play this course a couple of times to get an appreciation of the novel design of some of the holes. Your second shot, assuming a reasonable drive, whether an approach or layup, is often the deciding factor on the score. I have only played the course a few times, but I have seen bombers complain that it is too short and then proceed to mangle their score with a poor short game. Accuracy and the short game are the keys to Sky View.

I only get to play one/week during the Summer and early Fall, but will make Sky View a regular. If I were retired and still living near Sparta I would seriously consider buying the full membership.
