Clydebank Clydebank

Great course to kick us off with for the start of our season. Arrived nice and early for an 0800 tee off. Great to see a mix of members and visitors alike all eager to take on this cracking course.

Only thing that was a let down was Winters mats and no fairways with some holes on tee mats too, possibly just 1 week away from full season so poorly timed on our part.

Greens on the front 9, very sandy but the back 9 immaculate.

As a group we love this course, it’s always our go to if we can get one elsewhere and the staff in the pro shop are the best about. No hassle, actually making visitors welcome and that we’re not a stain on the club.

Callander Golf Club

Played today as a four ball. Course was devoid of any signs of life as we’d heard the clubhouse and grounds were now private property so very little governance in place.
Course conditions were great with only 1 winter green on, despite expecting a cold morning and some hard ground. A tough wee test for the average golfer, some holes saying Par 3 yet my Garmin saying Par 4. Hole 7 was a doozy, no idea where you were going with a blind par 3 made it interesting for me.

Great value for money but would recommend getting out early morning, busy and we were held up for 7/8 holes by a 2 ball in front of us. Not ideal but we still managed a sub 80, 2 sub 90s and a complete 18 in just over 3 hours.

Would recommend to visitors looking for a nice course layout and a challenge with your wedge game.

The Fullarton

Course was in outstanding condition. Myself and 3 friends decided to make the best of a Sunday morning and headed down to Troon for the day for our first fourball since lockdown.

Having played Lochgreen and Darley, this one copletes the Troon Links for me and it was a great round of golf, well kept, dry and even the rough was playable for the majority.

As a par 66 and a short course in comparison to the others I’ve managed to hit my best ever scoring round along with 2 of my mates.

Couple of things to note - better signage of the course when on course was limited. As per COVID-19 there are no scorecards being handed out or access to the internal Troon site. Toilets included.

Be back next weekend.
