Pohick Bay Golf Course
Played On 03/09/2018Very nice - Even in Winter!
First time at Pohick Bay, and really enjoyed it. Considering it was early March, fairways and rough were in nice shape. Tee and approach shots are often up or down; lots of terrain change. Once you get to the green, good size and fun to play; fair amount of slope, but makeable looks most of the time. All around the course, a clear sense of attention to detail (e.g., the water/trash stations at the tee boxes were never in disrepair and always clean). Nice touch. Those we met in the pro shop were pleasant (the lady who checked us in literally went in the back to ensure our discounted price wasn't too high!), plus we paired with one of the volunteer "marshals"; nice guy. Will definitely go back.
Westfields Golf Club
Played On 10/07/2016One of the real Quality courses in the area
This staff is spending the effort and money to keep their course pristine. Great treat. Can be expensive, but twilight rate is great value. They always treat their customers like kings, and the course itself is a great mix of beauty, challenge, and fair. Play it. You'll like it.
Prince William Golf Club
Played On 12/28/2013Good option for beginner
Has a bit of a municipal feel to it, but I’ve gotten excellent deals on greens fees. Wide open enough, where it's a good option for beginners. If you want a reasonable round of golf without lofty expectations, I'd recommend it.
Lake Ridge Park Golf & Marina
Played On 6/1/2011Not for the discriminating
Will say up front, have not played this course in a couple of years. Assuming it's not changed significantly, though, two words: municipal course. One "hole" is actually no more than a 50 yard pitch. Driving "range" is a relatively small netted area. For a beginner (perhaps their first round), though, a good option.
