Limestone Springs Golf Club
Played On 10/29/2014Worth the drive!
This is one of my favorite golf courses anywhere: beautiful terrain, peaceful surroundings, nice layout, typically great condition-- only downside is the location; really off the beaten path. But completely worth it!
The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort
Played On 09/04/2014Do not miss!
Well I was already feeling a little guilty playing this great course for what I paid, and then I got to the back 9. The stretch from 11 through 15 is very special; the Ocean Course at Kiawah has nothing on this place. Found the course very playable from the back tees on a perfectly calm day; imagine could be significantly tougher in a good wind. Awesome experience; do not miss if you have the opportunity!
Tanglewood Golf Club - Championship Course
Played On 08/27/2014Loved it
With not many folks on the course on a late weekday afternoon, played from the back tees just for "fun". Played 16 sand shots in 18 holes, fired a smooth 95, and can't wait to come back! The course is BIG, and the property/terrain is awesome. I thought it was in very good condition for a public course; yes, the sand bunkers were more like dirt bunkers... but hey, you're not supposed to hit'em there! Absolutely would not miss the opportunity to experience this course if you're in the area.
TimberLake Golf Club
Played On 07/29/2014A real surprise
Business travels had me in Clinton NC late in the afternoon and I was ready to settle for whatever the small town had to offer golf-wise. Stunned to find one of the absolute best public golf courses I have ever played (and I've played many!). The layout was challenging but playable, and the course condition was great. The (British!) lady who checked me in was super nice and accommodating, and the twilight rate was almost like stealing. GPS in the cart was an unexpected bonus. I will happily drive far out of my way to play here again, and may even arrange a couple day trip. A true hidden gem!
Cobb's Glen Country Club
Played On 07/26/2014Old school!
Enjoyable layout in good condition. Greens were challenging/inconsistent... But not sure if that was their problem or mine! Looking forward to trying the back tees next time.
3's Greenville
Played On 06/19/2014A great surprise
I have driven by this course over 100 times and never considered playing as it is a Par 3. But a combination of limited time and a good deal on GolfNow gave me the opportunity to give it a try. A really neat variety of holes and nearly perfect greens; very fun. I will definitely be back!
Savannah Country Club
Played On 10/31/2013An old school gem.
If you like an old style golf course, you will love this Donald Ross design. No tricky or gimmicky holes, but no boring holes either; a challenge. Very good condition, and a great course to walk.
Cherokee Valley Course and Club
Played On 10/16/2013Not for beginners!
Played this course many years ago and found it almost miserable... several extremely quirky holes. While the quirky holes remain, the condition of the course, and especially the perfect-- and speedy-- greens made up for any design shortcomings. A real gem, can't wait to go back! Very slow (4 1/2 hours) on our day of play, but might've been due to tournament in front.
The Preserve at Verdae
Played On 12/15/2012Only 9 holes open...
Missed the Course Alert that advised only 9 holes open (until spring). Even the open 9 had the feel of being undr construction, so not the best. Course typically tough with fast and sometimes severe greens; very important to be below the hole. Will wait until front 9 reopens to play again!
Links O'Tryon
Played On 11/2/2012Very tough from back tees in the wind!
The day we played was very slow (4 1/2+ hours) due to one foursome; did not see marshall or attempt to help speed pace
Willow Creek Golf Course
Played On 10/31/2012Enjoyable course typically in great shape
Play here often, and only complaint is that can play very slow at times
