ShadowGlen Golf Club
Played On 08/10/2021Fun course for all levels
The course had a good pace of play and it was a great layout with some fun holes. I played the tips and my wife played the whites. We were able to “play together” because of the large difference in tee box lengths. Most of the tee boxes need work and the greens were a bit fluffy. Also there are quite a few weeds growing in the course/fairway, but there was a worker spraying the weeds as we played. I think they were letting the greens grow in after aeration. It was my first time playing this course. It seemed like a long course with quite a few longer par 4s. There were iguanas and other wildlife throughout the course. The squirrels are eating well and living their best life. There were a few blind greens which was nice and overall the bunkers were in decent shape. There was no cart service and food in the clubhouse was sparse. You had a typical choice of hamburger and hotdog that were already cooked and sitting in a food warmer. There was also no marshal, so I could see how pace of play could be affected, but we have a single play through and it was all working out well. I got a good hot deal price and for that it was worth the money. Lots of fun.

Played On 11/01/2020I remember this course being better...
The pace of place was slow and there were some inconsiderate golfers cutting ahead of people and making the back up even worse, but that isn’t the course (maybe the Marshall’s) fault. It was an absolutely beautiful day so everyone was out playing. I figured it might be slow, but not 3 hours and 40 minutes for 15 holes. I took my wife and mother and law and raved about how open this course was and how they were not very likely to lose balls. I was very mistaken. The rough was so patchy, thick and dying that you could lose your ball one foot off the fairway. I used to like how the hills were rolling and beautiful, one of the few places around Houston that there are some slight elevation changes and uneven lies. BUT now, there course has so many bumps and holes that you almost NEED to keep the car on the path unless you want to be jarred all over the place. There was a lot of construction/renovation being done on all of the bunkers and the greens were pretty scuffed up. It was not the course it used to be. And it was not worth the cost unfortunately.
Battleground at Deer Park, The
Played On 06/07/2019Course is deteriorating
This is the closest course to my home so it is a frequent for me. The course seems to be falling apart recently. The greens were mostly sand and were pitted beyond belief. 3 of the holes have a temporary green in the fairway while the regular green tries to heal. The fairways were inconsistent in thickness. This was the first time I have played there and I wished I had a full refund. Please do not schedule until the course had been repaired. If you are going to go out with some buddies and don’t care what your score is ten this course would be fun. If you are trying to improve your game in any way, this course will probably hurt more than kelp.
