The Golf Course at Birch Creek
Played On 09/22/2015nice course for walking and in great shape
This country setting was lovely, surrounded by a few horse farms and fields, lots of scenery and a few deer crossed the fairway. Played on a quiet weekday and had a great round. Course has wide fairways and large fairly level greens. Enough of a challenge for me but no lost balls. Fairways and greens in good condition, rough is deep and to be avoided. Overall, a nice place to spend the afternoon walking and sharpening your game. The price was right for the daily golf now deal.
Jamestown Country Club
Played On 08/27/2015lovely setting, good fairways and greens
This was a very nice course. We played on a Thurs. and the course was empty. Got a super rate on golfnow. Tee to green in excellent cond. Nice sand in bunkers. I put that it was an easy to moderate course but that's for better golfers than me. I still muff some shots so scoring isn't great but its easy to stay in the fairways and get on the green on this course. A few water holes and tee obstructions but generally, straightforward and all shots visible. Tree lined but generous fairways. I would enjoy a replay of this course.
Lester Park Golf Course - Lake Nine
Played On 07/31/2015stunning views and great golf course
I loved this course but the day was dimmed by my spouse missing his game. Anyway, the views are to die for, fairways generally generous and in good shape. I found some of the greens to be bumpy and fringe had some hardpan. Not as lush as some of our recent finds in WI. I always gauge a course by "would I want it to be my home course" and this one gets a thumbs up on that. It has lots of interesting shot opportunities and the setting just can't be beat. And, Duluth is a special find, too.
St. Ignace Golf & Country Club
Played On 07/24/2015beautiful walk along Lake Michigan links course
only 9 holes but some of the par 5's are very long. enjoyed two walking rounds, both on nice windy days. plays quick. wide fairways, some undulations, tricky greens keep your interest. loved walking and seeing the lake and Mackinac bridge in the distance. we played this course twice as we were staying nearby.
Les Cheneaux Club & Golf Link
Played On 07/22/2015charming setting on an historic links course
I was compelled to play this course by its initial charm and setting. The course is awkward with tees, fairways and greens very close but still a nice walk with great beauty. Some nice undulations and good greens so glad we did it. The icing on the cake was lunch at Les Cheneaux Culinary School Restaurant in Hessel, a few minutes away. Overlooks the marina with lovely outdoor deck.
Lincoln Golf Club
Played On 07/09/2015beautiful course, day, area
Our first visit to the Michigan lake area! Very impressed with the golf courses and this one was the best. Immaculate condition, velvet fairways, not even a divot to be seen. Generous width for errant hitters. Nice layout, somewhat challenging but not punishing. Small greens are tricky to stay on. I would return to this area again to play this and other surrounding links.
La Fontaine Golf Club
Played On 07/01/2015nice course with weather damaged conditions
Unfortunately, this course has suffered severe flooding the day we played. I don't know how long it has been this way but it was unplayable. Huge ponds in the fairways made it impossible to find good shots. The greens were acceptable but again, if you can't find your ball in a lake in the middle of the fairway, what's the point?
I would call the course for an update on conditions before playing.
Sycamore Golf Course
Played On 06/30/2015great golf value with relaxing conditions
This was a great course for our game...enough wide fairways and lading areas for high handicappers. Course was in great shape and greens were superb and fast. Plenty of water and bunkers to make good shots a must. I liked that its out in the countryside with no homes around it so very peaceful playing conditions. We are going back today for a second round before we leave town. I would revisit Ft. Wayne area and play here again.
Oxbow Golf & Country Club
Played On 06/24/2015this course inspired my game
Played at 9:30 on a perfect weekday on a fairly empty course. The layout was great, hazards were not too tough but for the first time at the course, it was not easy to figure some shots where the water was mid-fairway. The condition was excellent but rough was high and made for a hard escape. Greens rolled well with some undulations. Somewhat hilly course seemed like a rough course to walk although I saw a few youngsters doing so. I would love to play this course again but we were just passing through Marietta, Ohio.
Cedarbrook Country Club
Played On 06/16/2015loved this course for its layout and condition
Its a rewarding yet challenging course. I play from the red and found all tee boxes in good shape. Sometimes they neglect these tees. Fairways are split between blind shots and open and some with undulations towards a bowl up the fairway. Fairways in good shape but greens are immaculate and tough. Good for a home course where you have some time to figure them out. For first timers the breaks were many and greens slick. Bunkers are well sanded mostly. I liked this course a lot. All forced carries were doable for me, whereas some courses aren't. I would love to play this course again and again.
great golf value with relaxing conditions
This residential development course hasn't sold out yet so there wasn't much golf traffic. We took the daily bargain rate and played at 10 am under light windy conditions. Layout is challenging enough but also very fair. Most shots are visible, some water comes into play and the scenery is gorgeous. The downside is that some of the greens had large bare spots...seems otherwise that they care for the course. Fairways are very firm and give extra distance. Bunkers are great with soft powdery sand. We played this course twice while visiting St. Simons and would recommend it highly for its value.
Mesa Del Sol Golf Course
Played On 02/01/2015slooooow play, no rangers
we gave up after 15 holes. too bad because its an ok little course for the money. not too many choices in yuma. can't be walked as its very spread out in a subdivision. fairways and greens are good enough. layout is interesting enough but not too hard for me from the red tees. we played two rounds over a one week visit and got the best price through golf now.
happy to be in phoenix!
Castle Creek Country Club
Played On 01/19/2015good value and well run course
This course had nice rangers who kept things moving. Fairways run along each other and lots of men running into adjacent fairways for their shot. It was a friendly course and the price was great. Greens were the best part. Bunkers were thin and needed more sand. Fairways were ok and some elevated tees were exciting to hit from. Some of the tees had too long of a carry over a creek for me on the back nine because I'm not such a long hitter. Overall, it was a great day and I'd play there again if in Escondido. I lost one ball!
Green River Golf Club
Played On 01/15/2015a nice day out at a good price
this was a 36 hole course that suffered flood damage years ago and due to county budget restraints, carved into 18 holes. That really doesn't come into play, just some background info. Course runs between freeway 91 and small mountain so scenery is nice, I like that all holes aren't fairway to fairway. Fairways are heavily tree lined and very generous. The greens are in good shape, and have some nice undulations, opportunities to run the ball up are good for my high handicap game. A few elevated tees, too. The pace of play was almost slow as we played mid day as a twosome behind a foursome and waited on almost every shot but for the price we paid, about $50 for two, I was happy to wait. Route 91 is loud and busy but again, I didn't mind as the weather was spectacular and my game improved that day. I didn't lose a ball!
Marshallia Ranch Golf Course
Played On 01/12/2015enjoyable day but tough greens!
The greens were in great shape, undulating and nothing would go in the cup for my hubby or me.
The fairways are in ok shape, many bare spots and roughs are to be avoided...many large trees line the fairways to trap your ball and send it flying!
We rode but looked walkable but a bit long for that unless you're in good shape.
Peaceful course out in nature, deer grazing, etc.
I would recommend it. Got a great mid day price.
Indian Valley Golf Club
Played On 11/17/2014be prepared for hills
I prefer walking and carrying my bag. This course has an overabundance of hills. I liked the layout as it had some elevated tees. I don't like trees in the middle of fairways and this had a few. I don't care so much for blind uphill shots either.
I'd play the course again as its in a gorgeous location, was in very good shape and I got a great mid-week rate on this site. But, I'm glad its not my home course as I think walking the hills all the time could get old.
Also, it shows water on the scorecard but its mostly dry ravines so I was able to retrieve a few ob balls.
Rose City Golf Course
Played On 08/26/2014great muni, great price, great condition
we walked the first nine and no one was on the first tee when we finished so we opted to play it again instead of going to 10. Wanted the chance to better our shots (didn't happen much but at least we knew the course!) Its a great walking course, greens and fairways were in really good shape for a public course. Rough was good, not much water in play on front and some nice elevated tees. I'd be happy if this was my home course. Lovely trees line the fairways. Only downside is first two holes are alongside the street and a noisy playground but after that its peaceful. We got a super good rate on golfnow.
The Mook at Alderbrook
Played On 08/17/2014very interesting...good greens, challenge for hi handicap
My husband and I walked 18 on a sunny Sunday and I really enjoyed the course. Pace of play was good as traffic was light. Good walking course but for two holes, one was a backtrack to the tee box and the other was a par 3 that had the steepest climb to an elevated green I've ever seen. Fun at the next tee box to hit from elevation. Fairways were in overall good condition, some dry bare spots. Good and lots of rough and greens were good, many undulations made for thoughtful putting. Generous fairways mostly, a few creeks crossing them and nice setting with no homes along fairways. I would love to play again but not sure hubby is ready.
North at Randolph Golf Course
Played On 03/02/2015my fave muni in Tucson
I like this course a lot. Its in very good shape, greens and fairways, tee boxes, etc. we played on a very windy 20 mph plus gusts day and they were nice to let us go earlier than our tee time as they must've had some no shows. pace of play was good. holes are interesting and require shot strategy. not enough water or opportunities to lose balls, so that's a plus for us. lots of trees if you stray off the fairway and there you can have some trouble. you will have a fair amount of players from other holes in your fairway but that also means its an excellent walking course. I will play here whenever I see a good deal on this site.
Silverbell Municipal Golf Course
Played On 03/01/2015enjoyed our round on a sunday afternoon
we got out earlier than our tee time which was nice. we were a riding twosome so we did wait on shots but finished in just over 4 hrs. the course has a fair amount of water to keep it interesting and is surrounded by the beauty of the Tucson mountains. Got a great rate on this site and would play here again. the course is in good fairway and green condition. rough is somewhat hardpan and plenty of bunkers so stay straight!
