Showed up to play with a non playing partner and was paired with a local threesome which helped with the courses layout. The course is in good condition from tee to green, everyone from the cart staff to starters were very accommodating. I would recommend.

Overall Rating - Fair, I can compare Indian Bayou Golf Club to our municipal courses in the Carolinas and or Daytona area, which are in far better shape.

Pace Of Play - Behind a group of five.

Course Conditions - The greens are in great shape once you get on, approach collars all around the course are in need of attention. Seems as though all attention has been to the greens at it shows.

Staff Friendliness - Check in no issues, starter let me out 1 hour early with another group, cart staff exceptional.

Value For The Money - Tourist trap for the tee and Indian Bayou Golf Club isn’t the only one, chatting with the cart staff BEFORE the round, I was told that the course was a great choice for play because its in far better shape than others in the immediate area.
Nothing more here your mileage may vary.

Course Layout - Is fun, fair and challenging with a few risk reward holes. To take advantage of the aforementioned, you may have to move the ball a foot or so for a cleaner lie in the fairways due to more attention being applied to the greens.

Off-Course Amenities - Again, tourist trap as I traveled from Portofino Island to play in and visit Destin.

Passing through on business travel and found time to play and searched the area and found Hillside. From the time I checked in the staff was very welcoming and they knew that I was from out of town. From the practice area I was made aware that I could go off early if I’d like and we chatted about what was expected on the course and about the areas wildlife and protected areas to avoid.

The course is in fantastic shape from tee to green, with amazing views starting at the first elevated tee. The fairway is your friend as the second cut could be cruel if you happened to find it “ask how I know”. The greens are fast and true “trust what you see”, a word of advice for first time players - if pace of play permits ride up to see how the hole plays. I played what I saw, at times drove through the fairway cause if I knew I could take a different line I would have scored better “lol”. I scored 4 better than handicap with birdies on 7 and 14.

Locals go play as you don’t know what a gem you have, some of the reviews tried to deter my decision to play and so I had to see for myself. To all the staff stay true to what you are doing because its working in my view, Hillside is a must play if I find myself in the area, just my .02.

Members had the first tee, the twosome that I was to be paired with wasn’t there on time - so the member group (foursome) let me go off first. The layout is interesting in that there is a tale of two sides, land and water with visuals of airplanes in the air and backyards.

Score where you can and play what you see - the par threes and be intimidating if you try to take them for an easy birdie, you can walk off licking your bogey wounds. The par fives I’ve found risk/reward with most of the pins set with bunker protection.

The greens are what I’d call a putters paradise as they rolled true for a lag putter and they are in great shape.

The round was completed in 2.15 hours thanks to the members giving up the first tee of the day - I was on the beach in Daytona by 9:30am.

I would play this track again as we all think that we left a couple of shots out there - the staff was pleasant as well.
