The Golf Club of South Carolina at Crickentree
Played On 09/05/2016Great Layout but needs some attendtion
This course has a great layout, with some really challenging holes that make you think. The only negative is it does need some work, the fairways are in average to below average condition, the sand traps need a lot of help, but the greens are in great condition balls land and stick and they roll true at just about medium speed. The staff was more than accommodating, when he found out it was our first time there, he gave us a yardage book for free, and I recommend you have one it was a great help. All in all we had a good time will go back again, and recommend you try it. I am sure they will keep improving the course as the year goes along.
Long and Tree lined
The course has a great layout in my opinion, The one thing I would say if you can't drive at least 270 and control the ball play the whites. I played from the blues and I was at the edge of my ability for this course. The only negatives I have was the greens, they had just punched them the week of my round and they where tough. A lot of sand and some areas where not in very good shape. The fairways on the front side did have some deadpan areas, but the back was in outstanding shape. I will go back later in the summer and play this course again. If the greens and the front 9 fairways match the back 9 fairways this is truly a gem for the price.

The course has a good mix of different length holes which makes you choose wisely off the tee box. The greens have a lot of movement but are not overly fast. The fairways are greening up nicely with a little help from mother nature they should be in great shape. There was very little dead pan areas on or off the fairways.
Beech Creek Golf Club

The course was in great shape for this time of year, The greens where a little firm but would hold an approach shot with one or two bounces, the greens where true and a little fast but easy to judge after a couple of holes. The fairways are in great shape little to no dead pan areas even if you miss the fairway but not by to much.
Old Carolina Golf Club
Played On 10/26/2013The layout of the courese is fun to play
The staff was great more than friendly and helpful. The 19th hole is a must the food was outstanding and at a great price. Now for the pit falls, The price I paid was 16.00 for nine holes and that's what the course is. The tee boxes are nice and the greens are in fair to need help stage. The fairways are in the need a lot of help stage. The good thing about the course was the fairways and greens where soft and held shots. but the greens had bad spots on them and the fairways had more regular grass the Bermuda. All in all I got what I paid for. So If you are looking for an hour and a half to kill for a quick and cheap 9 Old Carolina is a value.
Club At Rawls Creek
Played On 8/3/2013Yhis course is for locals only
I arrived at the course 30 mins early as requested by Golfnow. I checked in with the desk clerk , told him my name and Tee Time, and ask if I was going to be paired with anyone. His response was no, he had no empty spots, Now I booked this spot on a 1or2 golfers only. Then he told me that I needed to go off right now because there were 12 groups getting ready to tee off. So after teeing off with a 4 sum in front of me and a 3 sum coming to the tee box. As I was getting into my cart from my second shot a ball came flying by me,. mind you I was about 50 yards out on a 290 yard par 4. After I putted and got off the green, went to the next hole which is a par three and the 4 sum was still on the green. I waited and the 3 sum behind me waited about 10 yards past the first green with no effort to communicate with me. And that was just the first hole, it went down hill from there until the 5th hole when the 4 sum finally let me thru. So in my opinion if you are not a local to that course don't bother unless you a 3 or 4 group. They have no time for single Golfnow patrons trying to group up with players.
Charwood Golf Club

The course is in pretty good shape. The fairways look really good, but the greens are on the small side and where very hard. I teed off at 7:40 and they where watering the greens and they where still hard. I didn't mine the speed but it is next to impossible to hit the greens on the fly and hold them. Over all I will play the course again just will take in account the greens and adjust my game to it,
Northwoods Golf Course
Played On 4/20/2013The course was fun to play
The course is laid out well, with several blind tee boxes. The fairways were in great shape, but several greens are needing some attention. To me it looked like they tried to fertilize them and burnt several of them. Also the greens where somewhat on the fast side with it having rained the night before. The cart paths are also in need of some attention, they are in fair to bad condition, if you are walking it would be ok but riding a cart with the 90 degree rule in place makes for a bumpy ride. Over all I will return to see how well the course plays later on this summer. I would like to see if the greens are better after the spring rains.
