MetroWest Golf Club
Played On 12/31/2016Slow as Christmas and this was New Year's Eve
I started this round a few minutes after 10 a.m. and finished at about 3:30 p.m. This was the slowest round I can remember. After the 9th hole, there were four groups backed up on the 10th tee. I had time to eat a sandwich and still waited in my place in line to tee off the 10th. The funny thing is that I was told on the first tee that the course was not busy that day and I should be able to finish quickly. The marshal attempted to speed up play but it did not seem to matter. This course was played on the last day of my trip and because of the length of the round I had no time for any other activities planned for the remainder of the day. The other time I played it was not like this.
The greens were in great shape. There were a few bad spots in the fairways but not in too bad a shape. The interesting thing is that there are no signs or maps of holes on any of the tee boxes. None of the boxes even tell you what hole it is. You should be weary of the water fronting the 18th hole because you may not realize it when you hit your second shot.
The Eagles Golf Club - Lakes
Played On 12/29/2016Great courses
There are two courses on this property and on this day I played the Lakes course. There is water on this course but generally I did not feel that it was more difficult than the Forest course that I have played in the past with regard to water hazards.
The greens were in excellent condition and the fairways were very good as well. I really liked this course and recommend it to anyone. It would be helpful to have a sky caddie or similar device to watch for distances to hazards. I wish these courses had yardage books which would be helpful to first time players. It is not a good course for walkers. It is one of best values in the Clearwater/Tampa area.
Cove Cay Golf Club
Played On 12/28/2016Great value in the area
The greens were perfect. The course was otherwise in great shape. The pace of play was fine but not fast, nor really slow. For the price this is a really good choice in the Clearwater/St. Pete area. I will likely play this course when I visit in the future.

Played On 07/15/2016This course has been closed for several years and needs to be removed
I did not play it in 2016 as shown. I am placing this review for assitance to others.
ASU Karsten Golf Course
Played On 05/11/2016Good course design
My adult son rented a set of clubs and he got a great set of pings. This course was well designed but the upkeep on the course does not match the conditions of other higher rated courses in the Tempe area. Also, the staff seemed annoyed to have to answer questions or even take the bag at the bag drop. One thing that I found annoying was that you had to hit balls off a mat on the driving range. I played on an afternoon when it was about 98 degrees and the cart girl stopped coming out after the second hole. Also, navigation on a couple of the holes was confusing. Overall, it was a well designed course and I would recommend it.
Raven Golf Club - Phoenix
Played On 05/10/2016Excellent course conditions
I recommend this course because the fairways and greens were in great condition. However, the bunkers were not in great shape because its was like hitting off of hardpan. The course pace of play was slow. Nevertheless, overall this was an excellent course and I would recommend it to anyone. I was impressed how great the fairways and greens were compared to the courses I play in Kentucky. Also, the number of different types of birds on the course was impressive, particularly the ravens.
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 05/08/2016Best course I played in Tempe
This was a really good course. The course was in superior condition the day that I played (although I wish I played better). The course is somewhat long so you need to look closely at the distances. The forward tees (not ladies) is not long in total yardage but that is deceptive. The par 3's are short from those tees but the par 4's are quite plenty long enough (over or near 400 yards on several holes). You should pick your tees based on your average driver length and not based on your ego. lol The greens were in excellent shape but very difficult to read because of the undulation. I did putt better after I got used to the greens by the back 9. This was my favorite course that I played in the Tempe area. The fairways did not have a bad lie. I do not play on greens at home as good as the fairways at Legacy. My only complaint was that the cart girl only showed up on the second hole (too early) and on the 17th hole (too late).
Panther Lake at Orange County National
Played On 01/02/2015Great course; will play again
I really like the condition and quality of this course.
The only problem with this course was the pace of play. There was a group of what appeared to be high handicappers in front of us playing from tees way beyond their abiltity. I believe it would be helpful to everyone for players to play from the approriate tees and leave their egos at home. If you cannot usually hit a drive over 200 yards and with some consistency then you should not be playing from the green or blue tees. The course starter or marshall should discuss this issue on the first tee. The whole course was backed up.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. I'm very sorry to hear about your experience. I'm sorry the Marshall could not help with the pace of play that day. We will definitely inquire why this happened.
