Shingle Creek Golf Club
Played On 04/14/2017A little pricey for the conditions
This was my first time playing this course and I understand several holes were removed and others added so I don't have a previous experience on this course to compare against.
The staff at the course from the bag drops guys to the golf shop staff, course host and starter were excellent and very service oriented. It seemed they were anticipating some confusion of golfers that have played the course before as everyone was extremely helpful in guiding people in the right direction. Strangely though, I didn't see the cart girl until the 18th fairway.
The course itself was recently reopened and several of the fairways and tee boxes were in poor shape given the price that I paid. I don't know which holes were added so I don't know if the holes that were in poor shape are the new holes or not but some of the tee boxes had bare spots and spotty brown grass on them. Many of the fairways had thin, sparse grass which required rolling the ball in a couple of spots. The greens in general were in very good shape compared to the fairways and the ball rolled true. No complaints about the greens.
I would like to play the course again in a few months hoping that the sparse grass fills in. The layout was very good and the greens were rolling which is a typical Arnold Palmer design feature.
Overall, a very nice course layout and excellent customer service but a little pricey considering the conditions but will certainly play it again in the future.
Golf Club At South Hampton
Played On 08/09/2014Course in great shape, rangers kept pace going
The course was immaculate for our Saturday morning round. Greens were fast and true. Fairways and rough were clean and tightly cut. Tee boxes were in excellent shape. The group ahead of us was struggling with the pace and 2 different rangers told them to speed up or pick up and go to the next hole. They sped up the remainder of the round. Kudos to the rangers.
Magnolia Point Golf & Country Club
Played On 07/17/2014Enjoyable round
The course was in very good shape. Even though there were recent rains, the fairways and greens were cut that day. The greens rolled well but a couple had some burn spots around the perimeter but didn't come into play. The practice facilities were very nice. The layout of the course varies from hole to hole and some holes are more challenging than others. You won't get bored on this course.
LPGA International - Jones Course
Played On 06/01/2014Very nice course, well kept
The course was in as nice of shape as I've played. The greens were in excellent shape, the fairways and rough were all in great shape and consistent from hole to hole. The tee boxes were very well kept and didn't have any bare spots, even on the par 3's.
There was no ranger on a Sunday afternoon which was my only issue. We had a threesome and caught a foursome on the 8th hole with nobody in front of them. We waited on them for every shot and they never let us through. This is not a problem with the course but a ranger would have forced them to speed up or let us pass (along with the two twosomes behind us).
Otherwise, a very nice course for the price I paid on GolfNow.
Golf Club At Fleming Island
Played On 11/01/2013Very nice course, very good condition, slow pace of play
The course was in very good shape. The greens were fast and the putts on the undulated greens rolled very well. The fairways were cut very short and which rolled an extra 15-20 yards on drives.
Quite a few holes require accuracy in the fairways or your ball would roll off to the edges. Same with some greens that were elevated.
The pace of play was slower than I expected for a Friday. Our round was a little more than 4.5 hours.
The practice facilities were very nice with a range and a chipping/putting green within viewing distance of the first tee box so you could time your arrival to #1.
Indigo Lakes Golf Club
Played On 10/6/2013Course in great condition, not busy, must play
First time playing this course. Sunday a.m. tee time, not too busy. My partner showed up late so the starter pushed us back to a later time without any problem. The course was in very good, almost excellent condition. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all very well maintained. Greens were fast and smooth. I didn't see any problem spots on the greens that earlier posts mentioned.
I will play this course again and highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a very nice, well maintained, inexpensive course to play.
Windsor Parke Golf Club
Played On 09/02/2013Good layout, well maintained
Labor Day morning tee time for my first time playing this course, quick check in, very nice practice facilities. The ranger checked us in and stated he would come to get us if we weren't on the tee box at our tee time so we could have a little more warm up time prior to teeing off.
The tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in very nice shape. Most fairway divots had been filled by sand and there were no ball marks on the greens. The greens were a little slow but rolled well, no bumps.
The pace of play was excellent, never waited on anyone and nobody waited on us.
This was a very nice course for the hot deal price I paid but would pay $40 or less anytime.
The Oak Bridge Club
Played On 08/25/2013First time here, nice layout, average challenge, great pace
Sunday morning tee time, first time here, purchased a hot deal. Showed up an hour early to hit balls but immediately teed off when the ranger said it was open. Not too crowded for a Sunday morning round.
Tee boxes were maintained, fairways were mown and the greens were clean cut and rolled true. Only a couple of greens had some issues on the very edge but they were being repaired. Didn't come into play. Off the fairways were weedy in spots but again, didn't come into play too much.
Played by myself, 4 groups let me play through without a problem, caught a twosome and two foursomes on 17 and finished out behind them. No problem. Finished my round in 2 1/2 hours.
Will play here often. Hot Deal is a bargain. Full price of $40 may be a little much. I'd play it for $30 or less any time.
Pine Lakes Golf Club
Played On 08/24/2013Good value, nice course, good pace of play
We had 3 straight days of rain including rain overnight prior to my Saturday morning round. Amazingly, there was no standing water on the course. Drains very well.
Showed up an hour early to warm up but the range was closed due to the amount of water we received. Was placed with a twosome on the 1st teebox right away by the ranger. Nice!
Course was a little shaggy off the fairways but they couldn't mow because the rain. No problem. Fairways were in good shape. Greens were all freshly mown though that morning and rolled true and faster than expected with the rain.
Nice course and a good value for the price. Will return.
Not a good value
The course was in very poor shape, especially for a Saturday morning. The fairways were very weedy and not mown. The rough was overgrown with weeds. Several of the greens were badly marked and looked as if plugs had been removed or inserted to try to get grass to grow on them again. 3 of the greens on the front nine were under repair and were moved temporarily to the fairway.
I've never played on a course that was in such bad shape. I walked off after the 8th hole and left. I had a Hot Deal at $25 as it looks like full price is $50. I'd struggle to pay $10 for this course.
