Dogwood Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/29/2016Hidden jewel
Great course. Easy to walk or ride with short distances between the holes. The course is in great condition. Great fairways, bunkers, and even fair rough. The greens are only 2 years old and they had a slight issue with them growing in this year. Should be awesome again in a couple of weeks.
BTW. This is a 2nd shot golf course. The tee shots aren't all that challenging (holes 2, 4, 13, 14 are tight drives), but the fun begins with the approaches. The greens aren't large and can be tricky with several uphill and downhill shots.
Very nice track and relatively close to the city.
Grand Island Club
Played On 02/19/2014Great value for LINKS golf in Albany
I enjoyed my round. Full round in 2hrs 45 minutes. Links golf is fun. Depending on what your drive hits (up slope or down slope), you may get an extra 30-40 yards on a drive.
Alfred Tup Holmes Golf Club
Played On 02/17/2014Check for golf carts if you want to ride
Course is in best condition I can remember. Greens are much better and fairways are nicely trimmed for most part.
If you plan to ride, wait until they replace golf carts. It will take 3 carts and lots of luck to play 18. They always run out of carts that work. It may only be 3-4 that can ride 9 holes.
Keep the pro shop number close. You will need it for rescue
Sugar Creek Golf & Tennis Club
Played On 01/26/2014Good value close to the city
Got a winter round in for a good price. Course is close to the city and right off I-285.
Tight fairways will test driving ability. Lots of dogleg holes going both ways. Fairly hard to lose balls, not much water on course. Greens could use some work, but it's winter so a little leeway there. Looks like new management is taking over now. Should only improve.
Cotton Fields Golf Club, The
Played On 12/18/2013Good course for a quick round. Near I-75
I have swung by Cotton Fields a few times as I'm driving I-75 for work. It's a great place for a quick round.
Tight tree lined fairways forces accuracy off tee. Basic course after the tee shot. Bunkers don't really come into play. Not enough sand and pretty easy to avoid.
Browns Mill Golf Course
Played On 10/16/2013Very Good course for a quick, affordable round in the city
This is one of the few courses inside the perimeter where once can grab a quick round. Wide open course with on a few narrow fairways. Good doglegs and some long Par 3s. Full driving range and putting/chipping area. A rarity for city courses.
The Golf Club At Bradshaw Farm - Red Nine
Played On 10/3/2013One of the best courses in the area
Bradshaw Farm is an amazing course. Great bunkers with plenty of sand. Large greens but many undulations. Could be 30 yards (2 clubs) between front and back pin placement. Pay attention to placement. Also, great putting track, everything rolls true.
The Oaks Course
Played On 8/12/2013Very nice course and awesome pace of play.
Hole Number 11 (Par 3, 160 yd water carry, bunkers on "safe side") is an amazing hole.
Otherwise, very nice golfnow course. Most holes have a dog-leg left/right. Some are about 90 degrees or so. I will definitely play again.
BTW. Good chipping/putting green also. $7 for large bucket on driving range.
