The Peninsula on the Indian River Bay Golf Club
Played On 09/27/2014Very challenging course, great conditions
This is a difficult course. Fairways are very wide but if you miss one you are most likely in a pond as almost every hole has water (usually tee to green on the side). Greens are immaculate. Very windy in spring and fall but summers are calm and hot. Conditions are always excellent.
Baywood Greens
Played On 09/06/2014Not worth the price in the summer
I don't know why people rave about this course. There are some holes that simply need a windmill and a boardwalk to qualify as miniature golf. There are some nice holes, but not enough to make this a great course. Fairway conditions are very good. Greens can tend to be a little lumpy. The clubhouse facility is really excellent for a public course. All in all, I don't think it's worth the price or the rather slow pace of play.
Rock Manor Golf Club
Played On 08/23/2014Nice public course in Wilmington DE
This course was taken over by the county and redone a few years back. The layout is interesting and the conditions are pretty good for a public course. Pace of play was good for a summer Saturday. It is by no means an easy course, but it is fair. The greens are much better than your average public course and much faster than your average public course. Price is fair. It should be on your list if you live in the area.
Bayside Resort Golf Club
Played On 07/12/2014Strange layout and long playing time
First, don't try to walk this course. there are so many long drives between holes that it is virtually impossible. There are a lot of really strange holes on this course. You better have someone with you who has played it before because it is not obvious when you need to hit a lay up or favor one side of the fairway. Conditions are pretty good, but the holes are just so strange that I can't recommend this course. It really does not live up to its reputation. Yes, it's difficult, but it is difficult because it is odd and frankly not really fair. the 18th hole may be the worst golf hole I have ever played. In order to play it well you need to hit a drastic hook or forget about the green on your second shot. Not worth the traffic or the cost.
Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club
Played On 11/09/2013Does not feel like a private course
The conditions are much more like a public course than a private one, and not a real good one at that. The layout is pretty boring. Pace of play was decent. I expected so much more based on the location along the bay. To be fair, there were some interesting holes, actually quite a few, but the conditions were just not good enough.
Ktruitt99, Glad you enjoyed the course! Hope to see you in 2015!
