Best beginners bang for the buck!

I only started playing golf about 3 to 4 years ago, after graduating college. In that time I've seen my game improve ten folds, and in the exact opposite direction of the quality of my game I've seen Arrowhead Golf course go.

Arrowhead is a decent challenge for anyone new to the game, with some trickery late on the course in the 16th and 17th holes. Challenging you to not only be straight, but "long enough." Outside of that this is a pretty easy open course that has seen better days in my time playing.

The fairways have been dry and patchy, while the greens always seem way too soft for the weather conditions of this past season.

The clubhouse has seen better days, and really from the outside to the inside is certainly outdated. It all really looks thrown together. Of the 3 times I played this course this past season, not once was the "snack shack" at the turn opened and operational. 2 out of the 3 times was on a prime time Saturday morning/mid-afternoon. Limiting your selections to just vending machine sodas/sports drinks, and potato chips. I would definitely recommend coming prepared with enough to drink (adult or otherwise) before teeing off on the first tee!

That all said, the course is still a great cheap(er) value compared to some other courses in the area, and can result in a lot of fun if you're out playing with a group of novelist golfers (like myself).

On top of that Arrowhead also is one of the few courses around that offer "Night Golf," or "Glow Ball" scramble tournaments. Which in it's own right are not only cheap, but a TON of fun to play in. And really give the game of golf a fresh, new, extremely fun perspective! That I cannot recommend enough.

Fun, simple Par 3 course that will challenge you to use all of your irons in the bag

Village Greens is a Berks County's little gem when it comes to golf courses. It's a simple, short, but challenging enough Par 3 (with 2 par 4 holes) course that makes use of most (if not all of your bag).

I personally love squeezing a mid-week round in when I get a random day off from working retail to "work" on my short game. It's an inexpensive round of golf, and is a short enough course that is comfortable enough to walk, without feeling like you're going to keel over afterward.

It's 2 par 4 holes closing out the front and back 9 respectively are just daring enough that for a shorter hitter, or a "just long enough" hitter to pull the driver out of the bag and take a go at hitting the green in 1!

There's nothing like a simple day on the course that you 90% of the time (hopefully) feel better about your golf game when you sign the score card. And Village Greens is that type of course.
