Davie Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/16/2020Solid Course
Davie Golf and Country Club is a great course to play at. The only complaint that I really have is that the pace of play cane be horrendous sometimes, even for being a public course. I once played an almost 5 hour round here due to there being no ranger to keep the pace of play going. However, that isn't the norm and the course is beautiful and challenging, and most of the staff are great. I highly recommend
Cooper Colony Country Club
Played On 07/21/2020Underrated Course
This course is severely underrated. I started golfing last fall and avoided this course for a very long time, opting to instead play at Davie Golf and Country Club a few minutes away. That course is great, but extremely difficulty for a beginner, with water hazards on almost every hole. Last week I bit the bullet and played at Cooper Colony for the first time wanting to try something different, and it was so enjoyable I came back this week as well. It is definitely an easier course, being shorter and containing less hazards. However, the many par 3s require you to be accurate if you want a good score. The pace of play is phenomenal compared to Davie Golf, due to difference in traffic. My first round was on a Sunday afternoon and I finished in about 3.5 hours, and my second round that I am writing this review after was on a Tuesday afternoon that I had taken off from work. I walked the entire course in 2 hours and 45 minutes, with a bathroom and snack break. Obviously, as more people discover this course, the pace of play will slow, but I'm fine with that. The more people that start using this course, the more income that can be used to better it! I will definitely be adding this course to my rotation, and will probably use it as my main course until I can get to a lower handicap. My only complaints are that the cart path desperately needs to be redone, and the bathrooms remind me something out of a horror movie. But the tee boxes and fairways are acceptable, and the greens are very pretty, and the course itself being playable is what matters!
