Legacy Golf Club
Played On 04/16/2016Still a long way to go!!!
Wanted to try Legacy again after many years of staying away due to poor course conditions, and seeing some positive reviews (should have known as they were all from members). Admittedly, one of Arnie's greatest designs, and with fond memories of what the course used to be, thought would give it a shot. Unfortunately, the course is only a tad above a dog track in terms of conditions, although greens are showing some promise. Fairways are still very bare in numerous spots & loaded with all kinds of weeds ( and tons of unfilled divots!!!) and the rough is mainly bare or weeds....sand traps, which of course there are numerous, were all un turned over & lacking sand. Even with a hot deal price of $45, no way will I be returning this year, with so many courses available at half the price & in twice as good of shape. Undoubtedly this is one of the areas premier layouts....unfortunately it's in the bottom half with regards to conditions. I know new owners & give them credit for trying to improve, but price should more coincide with conditions....sorry. Hopefully a good growing season summer & overseed, overseed, overseed!!!!! One last comment...we played on a Saturday ,& when making the turn, bar/restaurant in process of closing at 4!!!!! No dogs or sandwiches, just beers & when finished at 6 EVERYTHING was closed. Mr. Owner, you probably lost about $100 in food & beverage sales from our 4 some!!!!! S M H !!!!! Hard to bring Legacy back to the #1 status it used to have when you don't deliver the entire package. Also, this is Florida...where's the ice & water machine? Dirty ice & 2 styro cups in the dirty cooler on the cart??????? WTF is that?????? Mr Palmer would cringe if he were to return!!!!
Maple/Willow at Hunter's Creek Plantation
Played On 08/21/2015Could be a Masterpiece
Phenomenal Layout, Lots of elevation changes, doglegs, bunkering....just a really nice layout....HOWEVER tee to green the course is in very neglected condition. Very heavy Cut grass, almost haylike trimmings in all the rough areas, and unmowed fairways with weeds everywhere in the fairways. Can deal with heavy nasty rough, as should be penalized for out of fairway, but come on, cut the fairways. Also, impossible to find any sprinkler heads or fairway markers...the weeds grew over them all. Greens were in great shape, most bunkers too....a few could use some more sand. Im sure at one time this course was a 5 star track....too bad....with just a little TLC could be a gem again!!!!
10 & 19 at University Park Country Club
Played On 03/21/2015great shape
course in great shape. Greens could be a bit quicker, but overall, pretty lush, while many other courses are showing the wear of the season.
The Links at Greenfield Plantation
Played On 02/15/2014still a cow pasture
Greens were ok, tee boxes fair....but fairways...atrocious. More weeds than grass, divots all over the place, like playing off asphalt. Know there's new owners, and as I said greens & Tee boxes show improvement, but really need to shut this place down & grow some grass in the fairways!!
Its a great layout, used to play here often, but honestly, even for $30, would NOT play here again
Old Oak Country Club
Played On 7/2/2013Great as always!!
Course was in phenominal shape. Keep it in the fairway. Hard to find balls & hit out of the rough. As always, in great shape!!
Tuckaway Golf Course
Played On 6/28/2013nice course for hi handicappers.
1st time here. Course in pretty good shape, except bunkers a little rough. Front 9 pretty basic, not a lot of challenge, but back 9 very nice, especially #10 &17. Fairways pretty open, but if you spray it bad, trees do come into play. Back has some very nice elevation changes in it & course is quite scenic for flat Illinois!! Brought beginner girlfriend here, seeing how short it was, HOWEVER, not a huge difference between blues & reds so for her challenging. Can see this being quite challenging for women golfers. All in all for a cheapie ( $10) round, a great value. Staff is EXTREMELY friendly, & cart girl was around often. If you're a hi handicapper, a good course to play!!
Rosedale Golf & Country Club
Played On 4/12/2013Tight, Tight, Tight!!!!!!!
One of my favs in SRQ. Always well maintained. Today, was about week after fairways slitted,so a little bummed, but gotta do maintenance to keep nice year round, which Rosedale usually is.Greens were a little slower than usual, not sure why not cut & rolled???? If you are a High handicapper, probably not course for you, this course is VERY tight & if you spray the ball, better bring yourself a dozen!!!! Starting staff always friendly!!!
