Druids Glen Golf Club at Druids Glen Golf Resort
Played On 05/29/2016Very beautiful course, poorly managed
Yesterday we played this course under excellent weather conditions. We are a group of six people who travel together much and we have visited more than 200 courses abroad within the last ten years. Everyone of us admitted that Druids Glen is among the most beautiful courses in this long row - if not even the top one. Fairways and greens were in an extraordinary well-kept condition, compliments to the greenskeepers for that. The layout is spectacular, the course has enough old and magnificent trees to decorate ten courses.
The more sad it is to say that the management of the course es extremely poor - if a management exists at all.
We booked our tee time 6 months in advance (and it is an expensive one, also under the top 5 on our long-term record). Upon arrival at the Pro-shop we learned that it had been postponed by one hour without giving us notice. The staff was not willing to explain why. The course was extremely crowded but no starter, steward or marshall looked after the people. Therefore we had to wait for every single stroke we made this afternoon, and the round took us over 6 hours. On Par 3s there were usually 3 or more foursomes on 'hold'. This was an unmatched experience for us in Scotland or Ireland.
Everyone playing - not just us - was extremely annoyed, players started to shout at each other.
In one word: It was a completely spoiled afternoon and we can't recommend to play this course.
We tried to complain after the round in the ProShop, the staff wasn't interested at all in our opinion.
