Avalon Country Club
Played On 05/07/2019Pretty course with lots of changes of elevation and lightning fast greens
Enjoyed my first time playing. I understand that the course passed thru bankruptcy in 20015 and has now been rescued. New owner could put more money into the course - conditions in the tees fairways and greens could be improved. I would have benefited with playing with someone who knew the course. The 5th hole surprised me as the fairway seems to be a slight dogleg right but sharply drops right down to a small target green. 18th hole is a great par 5 finisher with the approach to the green over water. 9th is also a water par 5 as well. Nice track. Could be excellent with more attention.
Waverly Oaks Golf Club
Played On 04/25/2019Greens in embarrassing shape
Waverly Oaks is one of my favorite courses in the Greater Boston area, so I was looking forward to playing today using a GolfNow Hot Deal. I had played Pinehills Nicklaus 4 days prior and expected similar conditions. I was shocked to find Waverly's greens patchy and bare -- our putts would bump along instead of rolling smoothly.
I have never seen the greens there in such bad condition. It will take some time before they come in properly so beware.
Sandy Burr Country Club
Played On 04/24/2018Nice elevation changes - slicers beware
Sandy Burr is within 3 miles of Wayland but has much more interesting elevation changes. The course incorporates these to good effect.
Some of the fairways are side by side -- creating the danger of slicing (or hooking) into golfers on a neighboring fairway.
Weekday afternoon rate was reasonable. Weekend seems pricey.
Thank you for the time you took to review our course and regret that your experience was not up to your expectation. We had a reaction with a dormant fertilizer application . Waverly Oaks is working diligently to correct this issue. Each week our greens have improved and our expectation is that will continue.
