Bloomington Downs Golf Club
Played On 07/13/2017TOTALLY Waterlogged
Bloomington Downs is the reason I'll never book in advance again. The rain produced so much water that the greens were literally unplayable. The holes were full to the brim and a baseball like swing sent the ball maximum 6 feet. However it was only a drizzle when I got there, so the course was "open". So I played, until the drizzle turned to buckets on the 9th hole. I waited...and waited....and decided I couldn't take it anymore and went back to the clubhouse where they joyfully told me that because I was a golfnow customer, I was out of luck if I wanted to come back another time. Because "if Golfnow calls and asks if we're open and we're open...you won't get your money back". The thing is, I didn't want my money back, i just wanted to play a decent round and EVERYONE knew there was zero possiblity of playing a decent round that day. Putting was impossible and even if it did stop raining (they told me the radar said it was supposed to stop in a couple of hours and I was welcome to wait) the course was unwalkable and completely waterlogged. It's not Bloomington Downs' fault that it was the worst and wettest July on record but there are dozens of other courses out there that would have done the right thing and let me come back another time. Not because the were obligated to...but because it was the right thing to do. I give their customer service and appreciation a zero and I'll take my 50 rounds a season business elsewhere.
