Could not believe how good the course was so close to coming out of Over Seed. Greens were great and the course had filled in nicely. Wonderful experience.

Had a rough experience when playing in early March. I was very disappointed in numerous areas, but had an opportunity to return and try it again. I must say it was a complete change from my previous round.
The course is in excellent condition, the pace of play was outstanding and the staff was awesome. We were impressed in every way and will certainly be back. Thanks to all that helped make it a great day for the four of us. It was memorable.

Arrive for a Saturday tee time and all seems good. The previous reviews were good and especially the pace of play. The starter tells us the pace of play is 4 hours and 15 minutes. He was correct. At the 14 tee we had indeed reached the 4:15 mark! The players assistant??? was seen twice on the front nine and was gracious enough to wave at us. He was either smart enough or fearful as he did not show up on the back nine. The beverage girl was the best employee on the property as she apologized numerous times for the slow play. When we sent a message via the GPS unit for a players assistant to come out to 14, they sent a young man who was very gracious and apologetic, but had no reason or explanation as to what happened and certainly no solutions.

I get that it is peak season. I get that there will be slow play. But when you pay $850 for a foursome, have a miserable experience and are forced to leave the course on the 17th tee at the 5 hour mark to make it to a dinner reservation, management just does not care. Players cart numbers can be checked at the turn and monitored for slow play. Players assistants can alert people that they are behind or move them up a hole.

I have played over 70 courses in the Valley and never have I seen such disregard for the players and a total lack of professionalism from the staff. Monitoring play and showing respect for the players is nothing new in golf nor is it difficult. Not seeming to care is.

Played first day after overseeding. The staff was excellent and want to shout out Carmen on the beer cart. She is a real asset to the course and very accommodating.
I've played it for a few years and ever since the Thompson group bought it it has gotten better. The overseed seems to have gone well. There are some patches of dirt on the some greens, but overall much better than in past years.
Good value for the money and 2-3 holes that could be moved to the Boulders or Troon North and fit right in.

Played today and found the course to be much improved. The tees and greens were actually very nice and the fairways are getting there. The holes have some great views even though the layout is fairly straightforward.
Staff is outstanding and we found it to be a very pleasant surprise. Thanks to the Thompson group for making these great imporovements

The course has a real strong layout and it very scenic. The staff is outstanding and the course just excites you with it's architecture and vistas. But you need to put aside your need for pristine conditions and enjoy the course.
There is no over seeding, other than the tees. The greens putt true and are of average speed. The fairways are dormant and the bunkers are well, abysmal. There is no 19th hole and no water on the course.. The greens are over watered and that creates some very soft conditions short of the green.
But, the course is fun and the holes are well designed and a joy to play. There were 12 of us and we had a great time. We thought the greens were fine, the views were solid and the course layout was outstanding. We all agree that we would be back and accepting of the conditions. Make the drive and give it a try.

Played 4 days after reopening and the course was in average condition after overseed. The course has always been a well designed course and the layout is great. There are no bad holes and some real tests here.
In my opinion it went downhill a lot over the past and in the last year or two you can see that there is much improvement. I am unsure what the seeding will do, but overall the quality and playability of the course is significantly better.
The restaurant was good and the beer carts ladies were a hoot.
I recommend it for a good test and I trust that they will continue to work on it as it is a beautiful setting and very nice designed course.

Had a great day and experienced first rate people from the bag crew to the desk personnel to the starter. We played after overseed so the course condition rating is seasonal. I am sure it is first rate in a month. I will note the bunkers were some of the best I have seen in the desert. Very nice sand in all of them. Highly recommend everything.
It required a lot of walking as it was rough only. By the end of the day was tuckered!
One concern was a fivesome we ran into on the back. Played the front in under 2 hours but went to 2 1/2 on the back. Surprised to see a fivesome here.

It's spring break and the courses will be busy and slow. I get that. But when you play the front in 1:50 and the back in 2:30, there was a log jam somewhere. Saw a Marshall sitting under a tree for over an hour, but did not move. Irritating. 4 groups on the 15th.

Having said that, the course is fun, in great shape and appeals to all handicaps. Great views, amenities and a great place to play. The practice area was very nice and the balls were included. Overall a great course, in good shape and affordable. Certainly will be back.

Played with my wife and another couple and just had a great time. From tee to green, the course was perfect and the greens were very good as well. Very scenic and the pace of play was awesome. This is a course to play in Tucson and very reasonably priced. Play it.

Great people to greet and help us out. Arnold Palmer design and looked forward to it. Then the fun.
The course has significant carry required on every hole. Each hole has some place that you must hit 50-190 yards and then you deal with not knowing where to aim! Very frustrating!. The greens were soft and cleat and ball marks marks were everywhere. So move on, relax and enjoy the view.
Could not get that acomplished. The pace of play on the back side was deplorable and of course, no marshall. The group in front of us had no clue how long our foursome (2 men and 2 ladies) was waiting on every shot and even took time to buy golf balls from walkers on the 17th tee. Classless. Just took all the fun out of the day. By the way, bathroom facilities on the back are to porta potties.

I am sure there will be better days at Starr Pass and perhaps we hit a bad day. However, a marshall would have been a plus.

Had a good day at The Foothills. Had not played for 4 years and that time was very forgettable. This time it was much better and you could see they had made an effort.
The layout is really good with a great variety and wonderful views. The little things have replaced the big things and when and if they get these taken care of the course will be one of the better ones.
Lots of landscape cleanup to do. Many piles of cut vegetation that needs to be picked up. Ball washers were not up. No yardage markers on the course. It has all the potential and has come a long way.

What a great day at a fabulous golf course. The course is gorgeous and the facilities are outstanding, There are numerous vistas on the course, and the views everywhere were outstanding. The course itself was outstanding with nice firm fairways and surprisingly good greens for this time of year.We played in 4 hours and 10 minutes and could only drive in the rough.
I have played most of the "top" courses in the valley and this one is right there. Just a great day of golf.

Very interesting round with some highs and lows. The lows: had an 11:30 tee time and got off at 12:15. Seems there was a tournament ahead of us and they put them out in a shotgun. Wanted to hit a few balls and paid three dollars for plastic balls. The hitting area was small and I get that they need plastic balls, but to charge anything for them is a little cheezy. Also a 464 yard par 4??? The next hole was the same length and a par 5. Go figure.
Highs: the staff was very friendly and courteous. The course had a nice layout and an interesting flow to it. Tee to green, the course was full of new grass from the over seeding and came in well, but not mowed on some holes. The pace of play was great and the course really offered a variety of holes. It was very enjoyable after we got off the first tee. Would not hesitate to come back.

All in all a good day and a very nice course to play for the money.

Had been down to see the WCG World Match Play championship a few times and always wanted to play. Saw a "Deal Caddy" offer and 4 of us went down. What a great day.
Staff is exceptional, the practice areas was outstanding and the course was a real pleasure to play. Really enjoyed the feel of the course and though we had some wind and a few tough pins, we all had a blast. Beautiful scenery and great vista views. Simply a marvelous day!

This is a very playable course with good conditions and greens that are true and hold a shot. The pace of play on the front was slow, but the ranger moved up the offending foursome by 2 holes and that really helped on the back side.
The front is pretty straightforward while the back side has some quirky holes which can be a challenge for the first time player there.
Overall a very pleasant experience with much appreciation to the marshall. I would play again and found the day to be quite enjoyable.

Excellent experience. Great practice area and huge practice green. Starter was informative and a marshal was seen a couple of times but since it was cart path only it was slow.
Course is plush and the greens were ok as they were just out of over seeding. They do put true and much better than some others in the same green fee area.
It is a classic course with challenges for any handicap. Highly recommend.

Love the layout. I know that over seeding just occurred, but why do they keep irritating people who come to play in these conditions? Arrive an hour early to a cart manager with a sour disposition. Reception lady was very friendly and the price was fair. Went to get practice balls and as I walked to the practice area, was turned away by a "gentleman" with a comment, "The practice area is closed". He was saying this as he roped off the area to be used. 30 minutes later it was open. Why wait till 9 to open it? Did we get him up too early? Or why not say, sir please play from this spot as I finalize the practice tee markers.
Have played 6 recently over seeded courses this fall and these are the longest cut greens I have seen by far. We just took 2 putts and moved on.
Nice course, great practice area if you are allowed on it and good pace of play. Just have never felt welcome in the four times I have played there.

Played here last January and had a 5 hour and 20 minute round. Terrible day. Was not excited to play today but so many courses are closed right now we booked it. Sure the greens were slow and the fairways long but we expected that after coming out of over seeding. What was surprising was that we played in 3:40 and the course actually was fun and enjoyable.
Seems they are handling the tee times better and marshals were on the course though we did not need them.
Staff was friendly and the menu was small but good. All in all a fun day.

Course is beautiful. The views, the course conditions and the overall quality were just amazing. This course lives up to all of the hype and the reviews are all accurate I their respect for this course.
Greens were very firm and holding a shot to a front pin was impossible. Noticed that the rack rate if you booked today was 1/2 what we paid by booking a week out. This time of year, it would be well worth it to wait till the day before to book your round.
Pace of play was slow. 5:15 to play the round and lots of waiting. Had an early afternoon time so that may be part of the reason.
Worth the drive and certainly one of the very best courses I have ever played.
