Diamond Springs Golf Course
Played On 08/07/2019Senior Citizen Haven
Five Star course if it weren’t for the pace of play. This course is dominated by seniors, many of whom walk. So it can be painfully slow. We had a threesome and were waiting on the slowest twosome I’ve ever seen. These guys easily took 8 strokes a hole each. Today was extreme but pace of play is always an issue here.
Bring your own alcohol. Just hide in bag.
They did some vertical cuts on greens which made them a tad rough.
I’ve also played many times in the afternoon and the sprinklers were on. We just park our cart over them to block the water, although that did kill one of our carts.
Course layout is awesome.
Lake Doster Golf Club
Played On 06/14/2019Not great. Not bad.
Bring bug spray. Course is okay. I wouldn’t pay full price for it. Having a hot deal is a must. I’m sure I’ll play a couple more times this year only because of location for my friends that live in kzoo.
Conditions are hit or miss. Lots of rain the course gets sloppy. Their carts suck bad. So slow. We even changed thinking ours was broke. Nope. Just slow.
Diamond Springs Golf Course
Played On 08/07/2019Good and not good.
Pace of play is painful but that’s well known with this course. Bring your own food/snakes and alcohol. They have minimal stuff.
Diamond Springs Golf Course
Played On 07/09/2018Always Enjoy DS
Third round this season at DS.
Two main issues: Slow play and no alcohol. Can't do much about slow play but you can BYOB, just need to conceal it. I don't think they care if you bring it as long as you don't flaunt it.
Current conditions place a premium on accurate drives. If you go left or right, you will be searching for your ball, which contributes to the slow play.
This is a great course with nice folks.
Diamond Springs Golf Course
Played On 06/04/2018Home or the 2-some.
Pace of play can be an issue. Expect a longer round. We had a bunch of 2-soles behind us. We let two through but after that stopped. We told the third group no and they can partner up with twosome behind them. They were upset. We didn’t care. Not sure why they don’t pair them up.
You do have to bring your ow.ln booze just be sure to hide it they don’t allow it on course.
Kaufman Golf Course
Played On 05/17/2018Meh. Not great not bad.
It’s okay course. Pace will be slow due to some holes not allow carts. So you have to a walk 50+ yards to your ball. Hit and walk back. I’ve waited for people who walk up realize they have wrong club then have to walk back. Easily waiting 15 minutes.
They allow a lot of singles so plan on letting them play through.
I’ll play a couple times a year but it’s not one I rush to play. Little pricey for the quality you get. Just meh.
Quail Ridge Golf Club
Played On 04/30/2018Only Play if you get Hot Deal
This is a $40-$45 green fee course at most. I paid via Hot Deal which made it worth it. Course layout is decent. Greens were rough but Spring. The four of us would not return even with Hot Deal. Once was enough. Better options available.
Staff had no real personality. Not bad not good.
The Ravines Golf Club
Played On 04/22/2018Fun course and worth It at discounted rate
Do yourself a favor and just keep your driver in the car. Tight course tons of blind landing spots. I honestly don’t think the course is worth peak season fees so book with a hot deal. I would rank it as a $55-$60 type course (with cart). With that said, not too many public courses with this layout.
The Ravines Golf Club
Played On 09/23/2017Very strategic course.
Minimal grip and rip. I think I hit driver on 6 holes. The rest were irons. Every hole requires a strategy.
Tee boxes were a disappointment. Chunked up and weeds. Greens were also beat up from lazy players who don’t fix ball marks. I bet I fixed 3-4 per green. I just don’t understand why golfers are so disrespectful on such a nice course.
Given conditions I think it’s a $50 a round course. Certainly not $70ish. I only paid $40 so was happy with value.
I’d play this course again if price was right.
Macatawa Golf Club
Played On 09/22/2017Mickey Mouse greens and inconsistent GPS but would golf again
Some greens will have 2-3 breaks in them, even within 15-20 feet of pin, this it can feel like mini golf sometimes. Yardage markers and GPS were off by as much as 10 yards. My phone GPS was more consistent than cart. Still would play again. I enjoy the layout and with Hot Deal very much worth it.
Moss Ridge Golf Club
Played On 09/01/2017Always enjoy...except for one thing..
Really enjoy golfing here. Pace can be a tad slow sometimes but not too bad. The issue I have is that I have yet to play there when they are not cutting grass or doing some sort of maintenance. A few times the mower didn't stop and shut down like it should when people are swinging. One time he even started up in my backswing. Minor annoyance. Would still play here.
Cedar Chase Golf Club
Played On 08/25/2017Enjoyed except pace of play
Really enjoyed the course. This is a very tight course. Forces you to use course management instead of grip and rip. The only issue was the 5-hour round. They don't have rangers so there is really nothing you can do when the foursomes on next three holes spend more time looking for balls than hitting them.
Chase Hammond Golf Course
Played On 08/01/2017Good value with hot deal price
I wouldn't play here without a hot deal price. It's not a bad course. Tight fairways and a few greens were really challenging to read. Overall had a good time.
Thoroughbred Golf Club at Double JJ Resort
Played On 07/26/2017Just Okay. Rather gimmicky with some Mickey Mouse greens.
Definitely requires course knowledge. Few holes are rather gimmicky, meaning just poor design. A few greens were like miniature golf, only missing the clown face. Bring a very good GPS system with you. Overall, I wouldn't rush to play here again.
