Flanders Valley Golf Club - White/Blue Course
Played On 08/09/2020Flanders Valley first timer
It was my first time at Flanders Valley and even though it was a 5 hour Sunday round, the course was nice enough to want to go back and play there again. Played the Blue - White course which had a nice mix of holes. Will want to go play the Red - Gold course one day as well.
The place of play was bad and there really wasn’t anything the Ranger could really do to move things along. Just a nice Sunday with lots of golfers on the course.
Berkshire Valley Golf Course
Played On 08/02/2020Berkshire Valley is everything you hear about it
I’ve been hearing and reading about Berkshire Valley and it was everything I’ve heard. Mix of really strong holes and some easier ones that look like birdie on the scorecard.
The grill at the turn served hamburgers, hot dogs and bratwurst. I had the bratwurst and it was fantastic.
The only true negative were the conditions of the bunkers, but other than that the course was in good condition. Looking forward to playing here again sometime soon to take in the great views.
Pitman Golf Course
Played On 08/01/2020Pitman Golf Course
Played On 07/18/2020First tine back to Pitman in 4 years
Pitman was just the way I remembered it after a long time away. The greens were rolling really well and the course was in great shape. New golf carts were something everyone was talking about. Large GPS screen was easy to use and clear to see.
Mattawang Golf Club
Played On 07/12/2020Mattawang is getting crispy
Even after the large amount of rain that fell on Friday the course was very dry and crispy in many spots. The tee boxes and greens were in good shape, but the rough and many fairways were brown.
The Bucks Club
Played On 07/04/2020Had a great time at Bucks
This was my threesomes first time playing the course and our fourth had never played it before either.
The course is pretty much all right in front of you with a few tricky holes where taking a ride up helps understand where to aim. The fairways and rough were in good shape and most of the greens rolled true.
Definitely will return and tell others it’s a great course to play.
Neshaminy Valley Golf Club
Played On 06/27/2020Nice course for the money
My only knock on this course are the speed of the greens. SLOW, super slow greens. Had to bang 3 foot putts as if they were 30 footers.
Friendly staff and the pace of play was good.
Rhodes Ranch Country Club
Played On 01/20/20201st time but not my last at Rhodes Ranch
I was suggested this course from a golf buddy back East who said it’s the best and his favorite in the area. I can see why it is his favorite as it is jumping up the list of my Las Vegas golf course favorites.
With the exception of the three holes being effected by the construction of new homes, the course was in great shape. I will love to play here again once the construction is complete.
Twisted Dune Golf Club
Played On 01/04/2020Early January round at Twisted
In early January when you see temps in the 50s you have to play if you are a golfer and we were shocked to see that there were only 12 players on the tee sheet for this great course.
The course was in good shape for winter with the only real knock being the sand traps (just like any other course). The greens rolled well even though they were wet from the rain the night before and the course was Cart Path Only which was fine because we wanted to walk anyway.
Knob Hill Golf Course
Played On 12/28/2019Second time at KH
This was my second time playing Knob Hill and the will wait another long while before going back. For this round there were way too many people on the course because it was a near 50 degree day on December 28th. I head a guy in the Pro Shop day they had 120 rounds today and that comment was at 2:15pm. Add to that they had a frost delay and cart path only and it made for an extremely slow round. I was walking anyway so the CPO didn’t effect me, but waiting before every shot was causing my playing partners fits. We played the front nine in 2 hours and 40 minutes. When we got to 10 and saw players waiting on the tee, in the fairway and on the green, we decided to play the front nine again. Doing that took us only 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The course conditions were okay and my only grip would have been the conditions of the bunkers and the slow greens. These two issues meant players were not taking the bunkers when they left and not fixing their ballmarks on the greens.
Hanover Country Club
Played On 11/17/2019A Winter round at Hanover Golf Club
Played Hanover with 2 other golf buddies and I selected the course because it was equidistant from the 3 of us with nobody having more than an hour and fifteen minute drive to get there.
The price with cart was great and the staff (Kim) was super nice and we got out on schedule.
With it being winter time I always worry about leaf filled fairways and rough but that wasn’t the case here. Well cleared making it a good round for those occasional wayward shots. The greens were quick and rolled wonderfully well. One of my buddies said we have to play here again in the summer to see how fast they really get.
We will be back again.
Knoll West Country Club
Played On 11/10/2019Birthday round of golf at Knoll West
I always try to play somewhere new and nice on my birthday and Knoll West came through for me today.
I had also wanted to play the course because I have enjoyed other courses done by the course architect, Charles Banks. I definitely want to play here when the leaves are on the trees.
New York Country Club
Played On 11/09/2019NYCC - nice course
This was my first time playing New York Country Club and I can see why this used to be a gem. Nice layout where you will have some tricky shots into greens with some serious elevation changes.
Had some fabulous chili at the turn.
Definitely want to play here again when the course is in top form.
Mattawang Golf Club
Played On 10/12/20192nd time at Mattawang
Second visit to Mattawang and this time was better than the other. Course conditions were almost perfect and the pace of play was good. The greens were rolling wonderfully and not many ball marks.
Played our round as a threesome in 3hours and 25minutes following two foursomes.
I will play here again.
Thanks Michael, we are glad you returned to Mattawang and happy you enjoyed conditions and the pace. The rangers have been working hard and it was nice to see Saturday afternoon rounds moving so fast!
Preakness Valley Golf Course - West
Played On 08/25/2019First time on PV West
I have played the East Course a few times before and have been wanting to get on the West and today was the day. I like the layout of the West and it seemed that the maintenance was a little better also.
Wasn’t a fan of all of the ballmarks on the greens and every sand trap was a footprint warehouse. Nobody was doing the simple upkeep. There were also some spotty areas in the fairways, but the greens were in really good shape.
I can’t wait to get back for another round.
Somers National Golf Club
Played On 08/04/2019My round at Somers National
I needed a place to golf in Westchester County that I hadn’t played before because I was staying over my mom’s place in Yonkers. Found Somers National Golf Club and from the name, location and hearing from an online buddy learned that it used to be private, so I figured this was a good spot to play.
Greeted wonderfully from the cart guy at the bag drop and the guy in the Pro Shop couldn’t be nicer. Then I learned that my driver probably wouldn’t be needed today because the course was narrow with lots dog legs.
I can’t remember the last time I was forced to hit an iron off the tee on every par 5 hole if ever. I hit driver once on the front 9 and once again on the back 9 and neither time did I really have to. Great spot to work on your mid to long iron game.
The carts have a touchscreen GPS which was nice because you can’t play this course blind. Being able to know the distance to the beginning and end the doglegs or end of fairway is a must.
The course has seen better days with the poor conditions, but with a little TLC (and some money), this course can be a gem again being just an hour from NYC. Tee boxes and sections of fairways need reseeding and the traps need sand in them.
Frog Hollow Golf Club
Played On 03/09/2019Winter golf at Frog Hollow
Getting out on the 9th of March can be hit or miss and today was a hit with the weather. I paired up with three other guys for an 11:40am round of golf. I was walking and the three of them in carts. With all of the other people out on the course today, there was never an issue with me walking while they rode. We waited on most holes, but nothing outrageous or upsetting to me.
The course was in good condition considering the amounts of rain and snow recently and the only true downside I saw with the course were the maintenance of the bunkers. What made them even worse were the lack of rakes anywhere. Finding yourself in a bunker is bad enough, but when you land in a footprint or worse, it truly makes things worse.
I love the layout and for today’s Price it was well worth my time driving down since courses near me still have snow on them.
Fox Hollow Golf Club
Played On 10/06/2018Busy day at Fox Hollow
Had a 12:30 tee time and I got to the course at 11:55 to find a line of carts at the first tee. Found out there was a small outing, but we were close to being on time. Staff did a nice job keeping us on time and getting everyone out.
With lots of players on the course there were some spots where the course showed some wear. Need more players to replace divots, fix ball marks and rake traps more often.
We were told that the greens were cut faster by the staff and they were right. Greens rolls well and they were quick. Stay below the hole.
Will play here again, but can’t see it being my home course when both the 9th and 18th holes end as par 3s.
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 09/09/2018Sunday afternoon round in the heat
After playing 18 holes of tournament golf at TPC, my buddy & I got in another 18 from the tips at Legacy for just $25 thanks to GolfNow. Really nice layout & the greens rolled well. Hardly anyone on the course for our 3:30 teetime in 105 deg heat so played it in just over 3hrs.
We were greeted at the bag drop and the guy, Nick, inside was really nice with giving us information about the course.
The par 3s varied in length and the par 5s were a stern test from the back tees.
Must play this course when in the area.
Plainfield West Nine
Played On 09/03/2018First time playing 9 holes in 2018
I was short on time and wanted to play golf prior to it getting super hot and I found a good deal on golf now and took advantage of it.
For the money it is what it is. Some interesting holes and totally an easy course to walk with really just two hills to deal with.
Technically you can use every club in the bag. Not much distinction between tee boxes to make you feel you are playing another 9 hole course.
Good for practice. Just don’t look across the street at the beautiful 18 hole course.
Thanks for playing Mattawang and leaving your thoughts.
You are correct Friday's rain was not enough to make up for only getting .320 inches of rain in 6 weeks.
