Aerating Back 9 Front Fine

Indian Bayou is a nice upscale semi-private course. We can attest that the from nine holes (Seminole) are in great shape And not aerated yet. Wefound out when we arrived our 18 holes would be same nine twice since back nine being punched. Desk person explained Golfnow has the aerification symbol for a week. My buddy and both booked 10-15 days ago, before they did aerification but we paid full price for 18 holes not punched. Explaining timeline, there didn’t seem to be concern or consideration. I’ll take that part up with Golfnow. My buddy was visiting and we certainly wouldn’t have chosen to play here with just nine holes played twice. The front 9 is in good shape but when j yuk ou want 18 different holes, this was a huge disappointment.
I don’t think staff understood what happened or they don’t care as many tourists play here. I’m local and try to play IB quite often in cooler weather as here year around. I don’t know what if anything course could have done but being sympathetic might have helped, there was none of that vibe. Between course and Golfnow, all people with existing reservations should be notified and be able to canx without penalty, or rebook at a lower ‘sorry we punched, only 9 holes open notification. Would you pay premium price to play 1/2 course twice as a not so good surprise? Me neither.

Stil a great open course but value was to near ripoff levels because we made reservations early. Golfers don’t like surprises, an avoidable situation.

There was no cart service, water fountain only on 2 holes. Single carts unless came together.

Recovering Nice From Punching, Etiquettes Gone

The course is decent and green punch holes are barely visible, all grassy areas very dry though and pretty slow rolling greens compared to Destin courses. Very laid back semi-private club that lets in public too. Decent but not that challenging layout, only 2-3 holes front & back have carry hazards or risk reward decisions. Most just are, can I keep the ball straight and get to the green from here aka boring and similar, price is low so worth it.

Except, no starter, course marshals (much less one) or bev cart service like ever! BYOE (everything). Usually they have nicely stocked coolers brimming with clean ice and bottled water every 3-4 holes. This Sat at 1:30 start, first Igloo empty, second no ice, four cool bottles left(I took two sorry). Good thing, all the rest empty except one with 5 warm bottles and unidentifiable live swimming objects in the cooler that gave me some sort of protrusion (finger?) for disrupting their pool party trying to quench my thirst. Thang goodness there are some bathrooms scattered with running sink water, no fountains, unless you count that China bow.

The worst was slows play and big gaps, no consideration. Pair of ladies gossiping by cart path only moved along to Redbox as my ball hits approach. Rather than let me play through, they hurriedly hit as I’m standing two tees behind them, this lag, here he comes, go, went on four holes or more, no one to call, they’re just being rude it seems. A twosome ahead slowed slows all, the ladies are MIA, as slow2 let me through witnessed by ladies, I’m teeing off and they go right past me, go hit in line with LZ, after taking about 15 min break, I was appalled how rude that was. I just got the go ahead from someone in front of them as a single. This place is typically full of members who are polite and play golf not I don’t give a _____. Apparently there was a rude Tourney as those ladies played through a 5-some who blocked me fo 6 more holes. Try playing legally as a single 4:45 mins?

Course One Each, Actually Three Nines

Friendly staff, mediocre fairways, inconsistent greens, sandbox tees on most holes. This is golf in mid-tiered neighborhood that is showing its age and isn’t kept up like the Destin courses across South side of bay, very municipal feel. On par with Eglin maybe, notch down from Rocky Bayou couple miles away. Still decent value under $30 online but proves you get what you pay for. Our cart had no sandbox for divot rills, two known out there, why? Bottles are an alternative if you want us to keep you course unscarred.. Not bad, not the greatest nor my top five in area either but better than FWB, Seascrape, or longer drive to Blackstone, Hidden Creek (both better but further from Destin). If you’re looking for bargain and not picky and don’t have high expectations you’ll love it. Migrating between clubhouse and two of three courses is 7 minute haul.

THEE Top Coarse Course

The layout and conditions of this outstanding course were steadfast and manicured as usual for this snowbird season. Greens were pretty fast unlike play that was pretty slow but expected for a midday sunny 70s Sunday. It was also in the 70 degree range besides bringing out senior golfers. Being local I can attest that these greens have softened up some but we got a good bit of rain few days prior, still have a ways to go to match other local courses stickability wise but better each time I play here (every few months). Apples at tun chilled are a welcome treat and Golf TV Show filming here hasn’t swelled heads or wallets yet but Spring Break a-cometh soon. Tee choices suit variety of golfers with good mix of challenges of sand and water. One shared green is interesting as are some easy looking approaches until you realize one direction is open to trouble (think 9 long left kerplunk).
The only negative thing was perhaps an unintentionally Barney Fife Marshall telling to speed up when on a 4 there’s another 4 on the green as we’re on teebox. The twosome we joined may have just been complaining about their pace of play, all backed next hole anyway Barney so find a shady spot and don’t press for gaps that aren’t there. We’ll all take turns buying you a beer if it helps,LOL? Good intentions and fly by comments gone bad maybe, silly, if rear view mirror used.
Overall first (or tied for second?) Best course if money is no object and for the rest of us, bargains can be had 45 days outt.
OK nothing special happens price wise but almost made you look. Beware of Marshall’s bored, enjoy apples uncorked, fab golf not bored!

Wow!!! Thank you for the comments. Pace of Play is something we certainly pay close attention to here at Kelly Plantation Golf Club. We enjoy spending the day with our guest but understand that more than 4 hours on a golf course can be taxing. The comments about the great greens and course conditions are greatly appreciated. The Turf Care Department certainly takes great pride in putting out a product that is above what our members and guest expect. We are fortunate to have guest like you play here. Thank you again and come back and see us soon!!!

Fast Greens, Great Shape, Slow Chance Pairing

As a year round local, EB can be depended upon to deliver quality Golf at a fair price, my third best course in area behind KP & RB at 1/3 more $. Be prepared to bundle as foursome when they’re busy like midday this Sat. Guys we’re great but to play yearly, I play weekly(weakly?) ‘nuff said other than drinking (them) led to a 5-1/2 hour round. Every tee box, fairway, and green was well manicured, greens slick for this time of year compared to Sandestin Velcro, I liked the challenge of no 1 foot tap in assurance, them not so much. Other than the embarrassment of holding up play (we let some older guys thru - hint, speed up) it was awesome but being tour guide as only one playing course before can get old as alcohol kicked in and I was still GOLFING. Course was near perfect so don’t hesitate, sister course Seacape not in same class but better for hackers maybe, half the price too. Highly recommend EB who has made the millions spent on major renov several years ago worth it as Eagletiff matures. Owners on property that day had nothing to do with condition, it’s always sweet but sometimes a bit pricey.

Great Course, Rough Staff Day

Course fairways, greens, and even range in great shape. Consistent speeds between holes and cuts made reading difficult and some flags were really hard tucks. There was a multi-flight tourney finishing up at tee time so instead of usual bag help it was self service.. That probably explains the ZERO cart service entire round that is usually dependable here but should have been mentioned by... What starter? Didn't spoil round as members and USA tourists tend to let singles thru, thanks for courtesy at this course in winter is not by common sense of faster goes. As this course fills in and matures since the refurb it has become more fun and challenging from tees II. Highly recommended as my #3 or 4 top course in area but priced that way too, look for coupons/prok to save $. I play here year round so it'll always be well maintained and firm for Apr, prob due aerif soon so temp price drop. Hackers try sister Seascape budget experience for less cost per swing , not same class but still 18 holes of joy.

Like or Not, Tourist Treatment By Tourists

As a local, I expected nothing more than to play with or amongst tourists so no surprises. It was a 60s day, weather and players too. Great friendly staff as usual, teed off a bit late due to jam at gate, was supposed to join threesome but glad I played single. Lots of rain made for cart path-ith rules as in rough to path side only. Course was in great shape including greens considering amount of rain, all three public Sandestin resort courses are kept up well, this being perhaps the best one. After 3 holes caught up with two female, one male threesome who TOTALLY IGNORED ME as a single for SEVEN holes, not snowbirds either. I was not upset, just astonished as the starter said to join them and based on their pace of play, I either wanted to go through or skip a hole but just waited all I could. Another threesome in front, no etiquette so eventually I etti-quit to watch football after 16 holes. The course was fabulous but waiting 15 minutes or so solo and standing on a teebox seven times to get ignored without a roving marshall is just stupid. I partly blame myself for not wanting to join them and for not asking to play through, actually I did once, they may have been deaf, who knows. This review is about the course and it was fine, great value online and I can only say that the last three holes LOOKED great since I didn't play them today but got to catch oblong leather ball games instead before dark as 15 holes took 4-1/2 hours, that's ridiculous. Other than pace of play, and boredom staying loose, I have no complaints, friendly cart service kept things fresh, I don't drink booze so it wasn't going to improve things anyway. I don't get people that ignore single, it's 2-3 minutes to get out of a groups way, I shows that several times hitting near flags as they hopped in carts, some golfers are just inconsiderate, didn't spoil may day, just cut off a few holes and they can't count for HCP anyway even if 18 under 2016 rules, silly stuff. Great course, try this or sister Baytowne, even Links if you and your ball can swim, preferably online to save some cash. Don't think everyone here is a tourist though, some of us ACTUALLY live here year round and want to be treated like we matter, not like rented bowling shoes as other golfers tend to do with each other, not repairing divot marks in fairways, on greens, leaving sand like it was a city playground at sunset. I am not on the payroll but out of boredom, repaired a dozen marks or more per hole, come on folks, visiting means giving the grass a chance to come back!

Hi sdrawkcaBseloHyalP,

Thank you for playing at the Raven Golf Club at Sandestin. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your round, our staff, and course conditions. We are disappointed to hear that pace of play was below par, and we appreciate your feedback as this helps us make improvements for future golfers. We hope you will be back to see us for another round soon!

Best Wishes,

Water water good golf, did I mention water?

Sweet course but you have to stay dry as 12 holes go over water, some tight, curvy, open, a good mix. It was in fine shape as upon arrival after booking late the night before, cart was ready and posted with my name, very helpful crew. Some green browning but still in great shape considering temperatures, greens fast, short, firm and hits seldom left marks. Condition was 9 on a 10 and there were no spots that looked unkept. The challenge here is the course, not how they keep it and as a local, I can say this course is consistently maintained well. Sometimes bothersome were residents/visitors that were on the grounds walking or letting animals run loose; sorry Fido, I at least whispered FORE. Key to a good round here is choose your locations in advance or kerplunk. Definitely a great value at discount, other courses at this destination are nicer but usually more expensive (x2). Great views of the bay on many holes, lakes, ponds, and scuba diving golf balls on others. As second one out and solo, even taking my time got done in 2 hours 45 minutes and this time of year course isn't packed or as pricey, definitely worth playing, bring plenty of extra golf balls and a retriever (non-canine).

Off the beaten path gem

Course was pristine, set up challenging but not impossible, a near perfect layout for an intermediate level player. Greens were true rolling, pretty firm, and in good shape for this time of year, the rest was manicured in places you wouldn't expect but with my game, you visit all over. Being local, I don't remember these two nines (can't speak for Creek) being in this great of shape and no holes made you say 'what were they thinking?' Online bargains early can make it the best value per hole in Destin under $50 but seldom found at that price here. Even at small discounts through Golfnow I.B. is still nearly as nice and half the price of neighboring higher rated courses. Staff was friendly and eager to help even 7 AM. As an early pair out, got done in 3 hours playing at leisurely pace, no one in sight, golf here is it was meant to be, relaxing and pure. Previous rounds had a very private country club feel vs. municipal but a little rougher, course is in top shape IMHO.
