Forest Oaks Country Club
Played On 08/07/2016Very Disappointed
I was a little disappointed in this course. Because it was once on the PGA Tour I really wanted to play this course and was finally able to book a tee time at a reasonable price through GolfNow.com but was very surprised at how the course conditions were. I have never played this course and did not know the layout of the holes and unlike most courses I have been to there was no map of the hole layout on the score card or the signs at each hole, just the yardage. If it weren't for being able to watch the slow group in front of us we would have been playing blind all day. The tee boxes were not mowed so it made teeing off a little difficult because you were hitting through grass. This course is Bermuda and it has gotten too high on the fairways to the point your ball disappears into the grass. Again, grass was mowed way too high for the fairway, more like playing in the rough all day. I can't imagine the mess they will have when they finally mow it. Their greens are rough and patchy. We caught the group of older gentlemen at number 10 and they said they would not be back mainly because of the greens. I average shooting in the mid 80's to low 90's on any course I go too but was able to Par the first 4 holes in a row and even got a birdie on #16 so it wasn't that difficult of a course, shot an 85 for the day. I played at Country Hills Golf Course last week and it was in much better condition than Forest Oaks CC. Very disappointed in Forest Oaks CC as I had high expectations for this course. I see they typically charge $40 on the weekends; DON'T PAY THIS. I got my tee time for $25 and that is about what it's worth right now!!
Gillespie Golf Club
Played On 04/10/2016First time and ONLY time
This is a 9 hole course that has been converted to an 18 hole course simply by having two separate tee box areas on holes 1-9 but using the same fairway and green. The tee areas were in good condition but the fairways were hard and like hitting out of a fresh cut field with no grass. The greens are being worked on so they have a lot of sand and are bumpy and were to fast for my liking. The issue with this not being a true 18 hole course was when we got around to tee off at #10 there were 2 groups of 4 teeing off on #1 which would have put us behind for the rest of the day having to wait on these two groups. The majority of the hole layouts are dog-legs and never having played this course it was unclear how far we could hit the ball or what was on the other side of the hill?? We didn't even play the back 9 due to having to wait on 8 people teeing off on #1 and #10 was the same hole with a different tee area. Thankfully I got a Hot Deal on Golf now and didn't spend too much on this but would not recommend anyone waste their time at this course.
Crooked Tree Golf Course
Played On 03/22/2015Nice Course
Course was in great condition considering the amount of rain that the area recently received. The Greens were way too fast for my liking but it was the first time I have played this course. If I had any complaint at all it would be that they change the color of their blue flags on the Greens. The blue flag represents back whole placement but it is very hard to see this color flag from the fairway.
