Glen Ivy Golf Club
Played On 04/03/2024Enjoyable round of golf. Pace would likely benefit from the presence of a Marshall
Played a Wednesday twilite round. Overall it was an enjoyable round.
Staff were all friendly and helpful when necessary.
Course layout is one of the more enjoyable around. Conditions xontinue improving but still a little rough in a few spots. No temp greens though and overall I don't have any real complaints about course condition That being said I was aware of any issues re:condition before booking my tee time.
The one suggestion I would offer though is to hire a Marshall or two. It would only serve to improve pace of play. I wouldn't say it's a complaint, but it was a 4:45+ round, midday, midweek.
I've been golfing here since they opened and always look forward to golf at Glen Ivy.

Played On 12/27/2023Great Course!!! Worth the Drive!!!
Played Rams Hill a couple days after Xmas.
It’s a trek out there, especially if you’re not staying out there overnight. It took about 90 minutes to drive the 65ish miles it is from Rancho Bernardo to the course. No traffic though and it’s a relatively enjoyable drive.
It was well worth the drive though. Everyone, without exception, from the guard at the gate, to the pro shop guys, to the starter(Joe I believe his name was), to the cart barn guy, and everyone in between, was friendly, helpful and a genuine pleasure to cross paths with.
I went out in the second “group” as a single. After the second or third hole I never saw the twosome ahead of me, and I never saw the group behind me. Finished 18 in a little over 3 hours.
Course was in great shape. I was told they had just redone the greens over the summer, so they were a little quick, but nothing ridiculous though. No bare spots in the fairways and the tees were level and in good shape. The design/layout of the course is fun. Little bit of elevation change. Some short par 4s and nice par 3s and no hole that seemed like it didn’t fit out there. There are some houses lining the course, but they’re not in play and even I don’t think I could manage to hit one with an errant shot.
Didn’t see a marshal or a beverage cart. I teed off @ 710a though. There’s a snack bar at the turn that had a nice selection and offers free tacos. Good tacos too, chicken and pork the day I was there and I was told you could order as many as you want.
Rams Hill has been getting a lot of coverage and has been hyped up over the last few years. I’ve seen it ranked as high as #4 in the state. It lives up to the hype though and I didn’t leave disappointed in any way. It’s also pretty reasonably priced. I do live in Orange Co. though so $126 for a weekday prime tee time wasn’t bad.
If you’re on the fence about making the drive out there to play the course, and it is a bit of a haul, I would be very surprised if after playing 18, you were disappointed or let down by the course or the staff.
Rams Hill is a course I’d highly recommend to any golfer. I didn’t have any complaints and enjoyed my time out there.
The Vineyard at Escondido
Played On 07/12/2023Course in good condition. Pace was better than expected.
Course was in good condition. Pace of play was good, as a foursome we finished in 4 hours. Staff was friendly. Chicken Caesar wrap from the snack bar/restaurant was great.
Mt. Woodson Golf Club
Played On 07/10/2023Course was in good condition, pace of play was great - 3.75 hours
Course was in very good shape. Staff and starter were friendly. Pace was great, we finished in 3:45. No complaints. Always a fun course to play.

Played On 07/05/2023Green River Golf Club
Played On 11/13/2023Good course for <$45-$50
Green River is a decent course for the right price. Not sure I’d pay their high end weekend rate. But for $35 or less weekday or $50 or less weekends, it’s a good track.
Condition is a little spotty. Definitely some barren spots in the fairways. Greens are in good shape though and the rough can be problematic.
Staff is friendly enough and for the most part leave you alone once you leave the pro shop. Haven’t seen a starter there in awhile. I usually play in the afternoon though.
Carts are a little rough, but run well and will get you through 18.
Pace of play is usually ok. Played in 4:05 on a weekday recently. No starter can lead to pairing up with a group in front or behind as the round progresses.
No real complaints, considering the cost.

Played On 09/21/2023Enjoyable Round
Played here midday on a Thursday.
Pace of play was good. Got around in 4:10 as a foursome.
Staff was friendly.
Course was in pretty good shape. Yes, a few greens are still a little rough. That being said I was impressed by the improvements made in course condition over the last few months. Two of the greens that were in bad shape six months ago appear to have been repaired and are in very good shape, leaving a few greens, 3-4, that still need some work.
I’m looking forward to playing this course again and would recommend it to others. Not sure I’d pay full price just yet, but they usually have a few discounted tee times available.

Played On 10/28/2022Good Course, Good Value….
Played Green River on a Friday, twilite, for <$30. Based on expense this course met or exceeded my expectations.
The course condition is very good, especially the greens, which were in extremely good shape. Fairways and tee boxes are in good shape as well. Bunkers weren’t the best, but for the money they were tolerable. Again I paid <$30, so I wasn’t expecting conditions to be immaculate,
Pace of play was decent, 4.5 hours, but could be improved upon. I didn’t buy any food or drink so I don’t have any comment on that, other than we did see the beverage cart a couple times.
One thing that stood out was the people who were working that day. Pro shop attendant was courteous and friendly. The starter was as nice of a starter as I’ve encountered in quite awhile. Friendly and talkative to everyone that he interacted with while I was waiting to tee off. Seemed like he genuinely enjoyed working there and it reflected in his attitude.
No complaints about my recent round there and look forward to going back.
Seven Hills Golf Club
Played On 08/03/2022Great Pace of Play
Course was in pretty good shape, especially for <$30 weekday. Better than I'd expected. Didn't see many other golfers out there and the only one we actually encountered let us play through almost immediately, which helped use and another single I got paired with finish 18 in about 2:40. Staff was courteous but not overly friendly and seemed to prioritize locals. Not a big deal but was certainly noticeable. Also the actual menu being offered was much smaller than is stated online. Pace of play more than made up for the minor issues stated above. I'd recommend the course to others but would have to say it's kind of a bare bones muni-esque golf course. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing and was expected to a lesser degree based on price alone.
El Prado Golf Courses - Chino Creek
Played On 08/01/2022Course is in pretty good shape & we played 18 in 3:15
I've played el Prado many times over the last couple years and have not had a bad or forgettable round during that time. Some have been better than others, but none have been bad.
Course(s) are in good shape tee through green. Neither course is immaculate, but definitely better than other close by courses that charge more, a lot more in some cases. For the money being paid there for a round the course is in better shape than many would expect. Any of the staff that I've ever encountered are friendly and pleasant. Snack bar is pretty good and reasonably priced. The lady in there is very friendly as well. Carts are in ok shape, it seems like a few of em might be on their way out, I've never had an issue with one, but have seen a couple with tire or battery issues while on the course. The staff is good about bringing out a new one from what I've sssj
Best part of my recent round there was the 3:15 pace of play, albeit on a Monday midday with 92f temps. Still an above average pace of play though.
To summarize, good price for a pretty well maintained course with a friendly staff and an above average weekday pace of play. Again and as usual I have no complaints about el Prado and would recommend it without reservation, especially on a weekday.
El Prado Golf Courses - Chino Creek
Played On 06/15/2022Great Course!!!
Rates are reasonable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Considering the cost, courses are in great shape. Pace of play is pretty good(hit a wall on 17, prior to that almost no waiting, not sure what happened on 17). I didn't buy anything this round but in the past the food from the snack bar is very good and reasonably priced. Lots of parking.
Overall during this round and for the last year or so I've been playing these course regularly I haven't had any memorable complaints or issues and I always look forward to playing these courses. Hope they keep up the good work!!!
Tijeras Creek Golf Club
Played On 03/22/2022Great Round. Beautiful Course.
Played on a Tuesday afternoon. Fun round and no complaints. 4-5 stars across the board.
The employees in the pro shop as well as the starter were all very friendly but they’re also very efficient and easy to deal with. Teed off with 3 other random singles right on time. Course is in very good shape and the greens are in great shape as well. We played as a foursome in a little under 4 hours with minimal waiting occurring only a couple times all day. The course itself is a lot of fun but is definitely a challenge for any skill level that gives you a chance to hit every club in the bag. We saw the beverage cart a few times and the girl/lady/woman in charge of that was very friendly and was always smiling. I’m summary it was a great round and I’d recommend Tijeras Creek to anyone looking for a higher end golf outing. I play here a couple times a year and am always happy with my time spent there.
Thank you. Please come back to see us again soon.
Mdwright85, Thanks for the fantastic review and recommendation. We appreciate it very much and hope to have you back soon. Glad you enjoyed the tacos too.
