Northgreen Country Club
Played On 04/24/2019Course with a long history in need of a makeover
Upon arrival it was quite noticeable that the entire facility was in need of a makeover. Everything about this course screams the 1980s. There is a large sign hanging at the clubhouse listing winners of the ACC golf champions played there in the past.. A real who's who of players. Unfortunately the place looks tired and poorly maintained. The gentleman in the pro shop was awesome. He was very friendly and offered us a free yardage book and gave us tips on several holes since it was our first time. Fairways are sparse in places and are mostly weeds and common grasses. Most of the greens are decent but some bald spots.
TimberLake Golf Club
Played On 01/23/2019Great course for wintertime play.
Timberlake is a great course for wintertime play. Well worth the drive from the Triangle. Greens in really good condition considering it's late Janruary.
Duplin Country Club
Played On 07/10/2018Great deal
Staff and course top rate. Tees, fairways and greens are all some of the best I've played in a long time. It's an hour and half ride for me but at $17 well worth the drive.
Keith Hills Golf Club - White Course
Played On 05/22/2018Great course and value
I love playing Keith Hills. Its a 1 1/2 hour ride for me but well worth it. The course is in excellent shape. I played the Black- White courses and it's as if you drove to two different courses. I typically play Orange-White and found the Black course the more difficult of the three. If you get the chance try the Cranberry Chicken Salad sandwich at the grill. Its awesome!
Keith Hills Golf Club - White Course
Played On 10/12/2017great course
Keith Hills never fails to deliver. We were greeted at the bag drop by the starter. Check in was a breeze. Starter made some wonderful recommendations about play. They have reopened the White course [3 nines] with newly refurbished greens and wow are they nice. Great facilities and staff. Course conditions were remarkable even after a heavy rain the evening before we played. If you go make sure to try the Chicken Salad sandwich at the grill. Awesome!!
Duplin Country Club
Played On 08/16/2017great course, courteous staff
Heard about this course from a friend and decided to try it.
it was a 90 mile drive but very much worth it. The staff was very welcoming and the pro shop is small but very nice.
I loved the gas carts and the practice putting green was perfect.
The tee boxes are well groomed and the fairways are absolutely perfect.
The course is not extremely long but there are plenty of trouble spots.
The greens are smaller that most I've played at other courses but they are immaculate and putting was tricky but they rolled well. I live in the Raleigh area and most of the courses near me aren't even close to being in the condition of Duplin and charge $25 or more for mediocre conditions.
Wedgewood Golf Club
Played On 04/11/2017Great course
This is a public course with the feel of a more expensive private course. The fairways were overseeded and played perfectly, the traps were well maintained and the entire property was spotless. My only recommendation would possibly be some netting between the driving range and #1. It is interesting looking for your first drive of the day among several dozen range balls but the course is well worth the drive to play.
River Golf & Country Club, The
Played On 11/10/2016Great improvement
I'd like to congratulate Richard and crew at The River Golf. They have transformed the course this year. As with many other courses in the area they lost a lot of their greens but they work hard all summer long and they are excellent. Rough is very thick and a challenge. There is some ongoing and needed work on some of the tee boxes but this course has improved beyond my expectations.
