River/Maple at Fowler's Mill Golf Course
Played On 08/20/2022Greens on the verge of dying
Great layout but unfortunately way overpriced for greens that in multiple locations appear to be dying/infected with some kinda fungus. Very disappointing as it was one of the better courses in the area. If they don’t address this soon you might as well just blow up the greens because they won’t be puttable. . Fairways, tee boxes were good. Cart paths have vastly improved. But the greens are very concerning.
River/Maple at Fowler's Mill Golf Course
Played On 06/26/2018One of the best in Greater Cleveland
Must play if you haven’t, must play again if you have. Once you pull into the parking lot you know you’re in for something special. Great layout, always in good shape. Better hit it in the fairway otherwise you’re not scoring here. Greens are sizable and fair. Not too fast but not slow. #4 on the “lake” 9 is the signatures hole with a big lake on the right side. 9, and 9 have a split fairway bisected by the chagrin river. Overall it’s a must play if you’ve yet to venture to Fowler’s.
Little Mountain Country Club
Played On 06/23/2018Course has rebounded nicely over the last few years.
When Little Mountain first opened in the early 2000’s it was arguably one of the nicest courses not only in this region but in Ohio. At the turn of the decade the course really suffered with awful bunkers, poor greens, and very little effort to improve either. It will never be what it was when it opened but it’s good to see that they have result of many of those issues. Many of the bunkers are now in really good shape, the greens were a little bumpy but that’s expected late in the day after it will never be what it was when it opened but it’s good to see that they have resolved many of those issues. Many of the bunkers are now in really good shape, the greens were a little bumpy but that’s expected late in the day after heavy rain all week. It’s definitely worth playing again after years where it wasn’t worth getting near Little Mountain.
Sleepy Hollow Golf Course
Played On 09/11/2017Challenging, scenic, very well kept
Always one of the most fun and challenging courses in the Cleveland. Greens are quick so you'd better be below the hole. Fairways were in great shape except 17 had a few bare spots but overall a wonderful track!
Grey Hawk Golf Club
Played On 06/03/2017Pretty course but still needs work
I was curious to see how it was after not playing the past few years. After hearing the course was rebounding with new management I wanted to see for myself. The new management has made improvements but there is still always to go. Fairways were ok but still some patchy bare spots. The rough was rough. Good in spots and void of grass in others. The greens were good, rolled true. One of my favorite layouts in the area but this course still has a ways to go!
TPC Treviso Bay
Played On 05/20/2017About as good as it gets in Naples
Definitely one of if not the prettiest course on Naples. Very well manicured and very pretty layout. Only gripe I have is would like to see the tournament tee markers in. I get it not very many people would want to play back there but would've been fun to play for me. Gorgeous clubhouse and excellent driving range. A must play in this area.
Stoneybrook Golf Club
Played On 05/09/2017Good layout, conditions average
Pretty course, definitely a good test off the back tees. Not a bad layout. Decent condition, for 30 bucks it was worth it. Wouldn't pay any more though. Greens were a little slow but rolled fine. Overall a decent course for the money
Berkshire Hills Golf Course
Played On 07/02/2016Rough condition for a once fun course
It's been about 10+ years since I played here so I figured I check Berkshire out. I figured with the recent dry warm stretch the course would be a bit brown so that wasn't surprising. What was surprising was the condition of the greens. Very slow but even worse was how bumpy and inconsistent they were. Some spots were even aerified which is kinda alarming in July. Greens not cut and rolled. Fun layout but not worth going in its present condition. Wouldn't surprise me if this course goes under within a few years
Panther Lake at Orange County National
Played On 05/07/2016Best layout in Orlando
You honestly won't find a better layout not only in Orlando but probably most of Florida. Very scenic, a good amount of elevation change and very well maintained. Fairways and greens were superb, only thing I think could be a little better are the tee boxes but they are far from bad. You could probably play here every day and not get sick of it.
Disney's Magnolia Golf Course
Played On 05/06/2016Not what it used to be
I played this course about 10 years ago and it was absolutely immaculate came back for the first time today and wasn't really that impressed. Right off the bat you could tell the Tee boxes were not in very good condition. Once you got to the fairways that was plenty of brown spots and areas that needed attention. The greens were OK but nothing to write home about. The staff was good but not overwhelmingly friendly. For a course that once hosted a PGA tour event it's kind of fallen apart a little bit. It's still good don't get me wrong but it's not what it used to be
Esplanade Golf and Country Club of Naples
Played On 04/28/2016Pretty course with plenty of room to miss
First time playing here and I have to say it was very enjoyable. Plenty of room off the tee so even if you miss a little bit you'll still be in good shape. You can tell within a few years they are going to be a ton of houses around this place so enjoy the open landscape while you can. Not a huge fan of the greens in my opinion they are too undulated therefore they can't be too fast otherwise they are unputtable like old corkscrew. But the layout is scenic and fun
Punderson State Park Golf Course
Played On 06/17/2015Fun course despite being under water
Extremely wet the day I played but when you get 5 inches of rain in four days you can't expect it to be dry. Course isn't short but most of the length is in the par 5's, A lot of the par 4's range from 370 to 420 . Pretty forgiving course not a lot of trouble off the tee. Greens were in good shape fairways were nice despite a few not being cut cuz of the wetness. Overall it's a good course
Hawthorne Valley Golf Club
Played On 05/27/2015Very narrow, small greens
This is definitely one of the tighter courses in the area no question about it. You really don't need to hit driver more than three or four times even off the back tees, definitely a course that rewards accuracy over distance. The greens here are some of the smallest I've ever seen. Overall an interesting course
Riverwood Golf Club
Played On 04/09/2015Very narrow, tight course
Definitely not an easy course especially if you spray the ball. Greens are in great shape except the front nine had a few pencil calls from being punched recently. Front nine has a little more space than the back nine which is very narrow and is kind of like target golf. Overall a good course
Kingsway Country Club
Played On 01/08/2015Ok nothing really special
Nice course but nothing I would say was amazing about it. Greens roll pretty good layout wasn't too bad just a pretty average course. I played worse I've played better. Good deal for the right price not worth full price though
Old Corkscrew Golf Club
Played On 12/02/2014one of the best courses in the area a must play!
a must play in the area but not really for high handicappers. very tough with lots of waste bunkers, undulated greens and a good amount of water. greens rolled very true and overall course conditions were very nice. Its a tough course even for the most skilled players but fair. Definitely will go back soon
Thank you for the review! Come back soon.
Whispering Oak at Verandah
Played On 12/01/2014expected more for the price
If this course was in the 30-40 dollar range then I would be fine with it but being that i paid 58 dollars (after 2pm mind you) I expected more. The layout wasn't bad and had some nice holes, the fairways seemed a bit beat up/over played perhaps, the greens were a bright spot as they were fast and rolled very true with plenty of undulation. Didnt like how the pins were not color coded and how there was no map of a hole and a green chart telling you where the pin is. Overall a good course but not a great course especially for the money.
Colonial Country Club
Played On 10/26/2014Tough course great condition!
First time playing this course and I gotta say I was very impressed with the course conditions and the overall layout of the course. The course is very long off the tips. Over 7,300 and with the course being a bit on the right side you better be on your game if your gonna play from back there. Greens are very true and aware pretty big so make sure you know where the pin placement is. I did like how they had daily pin placements on the carts, kinda wished they had a hole map so you could see what the hole looks like. Overall though a wonderful course
Shale Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/28/2013too bad the greens were punched but a great layout nonetheless!
Newer style golf course with lots of long rides between greens and tees, got some houses around but many are out of the way so it doesn't make you feel like you are swinging in a telephone booth. Front 9 is pretty wide open and lets you swing away but pay close attention to the gps on the cart as water that you cannot see comes into play on a few holes, Back 9 winds through the Rocky River on holes 10,11, and 14 and is very scenic. Its a shame the greens were in rough shape as they were aerated probably only a week ago but definitely worth the trip and would definitely make the trip out to play Shale Creek again when the greens are right.
River/Maple at Fowler's Mill Golf Course
Played On 7/3/2013whats not to like about Fowlers Mill!
Simply one of the best golf courses in the Cleveland area, Greens were in fantastic shape. Tees and fairways were pristine, the only complaint I had was the 2 groups of front of us who didnt have much of a clue on how to let faster players thru but the course was flat out gorgeous!
