$74 definitely not worth the money

Played today with friends. Could not believe we paid $74 to play this course. The layout is really good, but it ends there. The cart paths are torn up everywhere, many are just rocks. There are trees cut down all over the place. The greens are in ok shape, but many of them are not that great. Bunkers are completely torn up, I guess they are replacing them. No signage anywhere for tees, holes or directions.

There was 1 guy working in the pro shop. He was collecting for greens fees and also getting food. What the heck is going on here? Maybe 25 people playing here as the cost to play is definitely not worth the experience. Now I know why no one was out there today, it's not worth it.

We were told changes were coming, so why are they charging so much for a course in disarray? So if you are considering playing the course, go somewhere else. I would be embarrassed as the owners to charge this much. The course is not worth the price to play.

If you want alcohol, bring your own as they dont serve it. Good luck finding a trash can on the golf course. I had a turkey and cheese sandwich at the turn, what a joke, worst ive ever had a golf course.. Come on people...if this is all you have to offer, charge $30 per person or shut it down now.

Mike Strantz is rolling over in his grave seeing how this place is run. Good luck to the new owners who are supposedly doubling the greens fees. They have a lot of work to do to make this a $50 golf course, much less a $74 course. Greens are fun and entertaining, but don't waste your time here.

Awesome Course! Waiting for Carts and Slow Play a Problem

I bring a group of 20-30 guys to the beach every year. This is our 19th year. We've played almost every course at Myrtle Beach, but this was our first time playing the Legends courses. I will tell you why I loved the courses, but don't recommend going there until they get tee times and cart situation fixed. If you don't mind waiting for carts, you will enjoy the golf.

The reason I would NOT recommend The Legends is because they overbook the course and don't have enough carts. Our tee time on Friday, Oct. 11th was 12:20 at Heathland. I had 20 golfers with me ready to hit the course. The problem was...no golf carts! Around 12:55, 35+ minutes after my guys were pestering me about when we would tee off, the first carts finally rolled in. The excuse on Friday was 1 group was late for their tee time and held up the entire course. The problem is the same issue happened on Oct. 12th at Parkland. It was only 25 minutes after our tee time this day, but so annoying that most of my guys told me not to go back to Legends again. I agreed. We had also hired transportation back and forth each day to the course. Both days, our driver had to wait for us to finish due to the delays earlier in the day, which we had to pay for. Now about the course.

First off was Heathland. What a great course! I would love another shot at this gem. Awesome holes, reachable par 4's, hidden traps...it had it all. Greens were HUGE and in perfect condition. It would rank in the top 10 courses at Myrtle Beach for me. #2 is a very cool par 4, #7's green was a lot of fun. Overall, a great course. At Heathland,, the cart guys were very good and tried to keep my group calm while we waited. Kim, the photographer was awesome and kept us smiling. Jim, the starter, was very helpful and informative. Half our group went off the front, the other half off the back. The groups that went off the back took over 3 hours to play the first 9 holes! The second 9 was faster, but still took 5:30 to play. Not good!

The second day, Oct. 12th, we played Parkland. The Starter at Parkland was great. Cart girl was awesome. The course was another gem. I liked Heathland a little better, but this course was another great track. Huge greens in excellent shape, challenging holes...lots of fun!

The second day at Parkland came with the same experience, but with a twist. We waited another 25 minutes past our original tee time. But the twist this day was the A-Hole of a Cart Guy. I didn't catch his name, but he was wearing a West Virginia hat. His job is to lift a golf bag 5 feet and place it on the carts. He made numerous comments to my guys about not getting tips. He even made a comment about one of my guys not being a true WV person because he didn't tip him. So, let's get this straight...I have 20 guys waiting patiently 25 minutes after the tee time for carts and the cart guy is harassing us about tips the entire time. The guys in my 4some gave him $12. This guy should be fired!

The bar staff was awesome and food was delicious. 2 Free beers and Lunch included each day was very nice. The snack bar lady was quick with service and did a great job.

I hate the fact that my group can't recommend such an awesome property. Hopefully management reads the review and makes some changes. Fix your cart/tee time issues and you get 5 out of 5 stars.

My group of 12 had the same overbooking and late start both times we've played at the Legends complex. The Heritage Club doesn't have those problems.

Follow up review..play somewhere else.

I reviewed this course last year and am sad to say not much has changed. Great course layout with so much potential. I played it again yesterday and it is still not good. Many tee boxes do not have grass. The rough hasn't been cut in weeks. Where they did cut the rough, there are huge clumps of grass everywhere where they waited too long to cut. The greens are very inconsistent. Some bent grass, some Bermuda grass, #3 & #4, hardly any grass at all. Sprinkler heads are leaking on many holes and they smell bad. The par 3's have sand buckets on the tee boxes, but there is no sand in them. The carts have containers for sand to fix divots, yet the 2 carts in our group had no sand in them. If someone was trying to help conditions, this course doesn't make it easy. The sand traps are in horrendous condition and most havent been raked. The clubhouse doesn't have air conditioning in the bar area so it's about 100 degrees in there.

I don't get it! Such potential, but year after year...this place just gets worse. Has anyone that runs this place gone out on the course to see how bad it is? Check out #7, once the best par 3 in the area, now a cesspool of overgrown weeds and algae.

Please...please, someone who reads these reviews that run the course, STEP IT UP! I will keep playing other courses to play in the area. Try Emerald Lake or Eagle chase if you are out this way. Olde Sycamore is nice also, but a little pricey. Red Bridge is nice also, but a little farther out.

Good layout, poor conditions.

I like the layout, but the course conditions are possibly the worst in the area. Many of the tee boxes don't have grass and are uneven. The fairways are ok, but around the greens, the grass is very sparse and chips are like hitting off dirt. The greens are a mix of bent, bermuda and poa anna. Each one is different and most are very slow. The bunkers are not raked or maintained. The creek areas are nothing but high weeds and plants. I attached a picture of the pond around #7 green, it's disgusting. It took 5 hours to play, which is painful.
The staff is very helpful. Jerry at the pro shop was great.

The potential is there to be one of the nicer courses in the area. They need to spend some money fixing up the course. It was packed when I was there so I know they are making money. Hopefully, things will get better, but this course has always been a little rough around the edges. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a challenge, but only because the price is lower than the nicer courses in the area.

Great Course in good condition

I really enjoyed my round at Eagle Chase. I bought passes online at a great price. The tees and fairways were in good shape. The greens were in excellent shape...some of the best around. Many of the holes are very challenging and seem more like a mountain course. There are a couple holes I didn't like which were both par 4's up very steep hills, but also a couple great holes hitting over water to an hilly green.Love the par 3 with a 100 foot drop. I would easily recommend this course to friends. For the price, it can't be beat. The only drawback is the long drive to get there.
