Talking Stick Golf Club - Piipaash Course
Played On 08/25/2016LOVED this course!
My brother got us a tee time for this course for Thursday 8/25/16 for $25 a person, and after reading the reviews from other golfers about the course, I wasn't too sure what to expect. Apparently the $25 per person for 18 holes and a cart was a special, as we found out it is usually $60 per person, and even for $60 per person it would far exceed the price for what you get! Very clean and pretty golf shop, well stocked and friendly staff. While the driving range was closed, as we were informed that they do some sort of maintenance every Monday and Thursday, it was a very nice looking practice facility. The course itself was very pretty, as it is pretty secluded in the desert and you have very nice scenery and views of the surrounding mountains. Course I found to be very fun and enjoyable but very difficult and challenging. Shots funnel towards the desert I found (I was exhausted by the end having to search for our balls each time!) but it was still fun. Greens are fast and challenging as well, but well maintained. Overall, while maybe not for the beginner, I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone in the area looking for a very nice round of golf!
Camelback Golf Club - Ambiente Course
Played On 08/23/2016Challenging but enjoyable
Overall, I really liked this course and enjoyed my round very much. What you get for the money, which I guess comes with end of August golf in Scottsdale, was awesome. Challenging layout from the tees, as I found it tough to see where to hit it on the fairway for a good shot. Greens are very challenging, some of the most challenging I've ever played. Soft conditions, but the slopes and multi tiered aspects of the greens made accuracy a top priority on approach shots. We played from the green tees, which were the second furthest tee boxes on the course, and it was plenty long. The fifth hole is one of my favorite holes I've ever played as well! Well worth it
Topstone Golf Course
Played On 07/11/2016Great Course Overall
I heard about the weekday special Topstone was offering from a TV commercial and wanted to give it a try. $48 for 18 holes and a cart with a $5 voucher for the restaurant after the round. Overall friendly and nice staff, no complaints. The course itself is beautiful, surprisingly green for the lack of rain we've had. The greens are difficult and weren't the best, pretty bumpy and not maintained all too well (divots and ball marks not fixed). Loved the layout of the holes, lot of fun slopes and angles on the holes. Only other comment would be a lot of bunkers in front of the greens, which penalizes a bad shot (which I personally enjoy). Will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone.
Keney Park Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2016Short Yet Challenging
I heard about the renovation that had taken place at Keney and the rave reviews about the renovation and had to check it out for myself. First time playing the course, which is very easy to get to and located in a nice park area, and I was pleasantly surprised. While the original clubhouse is still under renovation and is not open, it looks like a very nice and historic brick building. The course itself is not the longest, as there is only one shortish par 5 on the front nine, and some of the par 4s you could hit less than driver, but it is still a real challenge. The undulations in the fairways and especially on the greens make accuracy a priority. Could still use a little bit TLC, although the lack of rain we've had explains some of the conditions, but overall a very fun and interesting course. Would definitely recommend it and will be back to play the full 18.
Shennecossett Golf Club
Played On 06/30/2016An Absolute Gem
First time playing the course after hearing about it from my father, and despite it being about an hour and fifteen minutes from home, well well worth the trip. $35 for 18 holes walking was a total bargain for the course. It could be a lot better with a little TLC like some of the other reviews, although it hasn't rained here in a few months so that's somewhat understandable. Nice course for the most part, but the views from 16 fairway all the way to 17 green are worth the price in themselves. Somewhat slow play which was a bummer, but I completely recommend it and can't wait to go back and play over and over again! Worth the trip
Thank you so much for all the kind words! We are very happy to see that you and your brother enjoyed your round at Talking Stick. We hope the two of you will come back to see us soon!
