Great course, needs maintenance

Overall, this course is very nice and I do give it my recommendation. Greens run quick but not too quick, and fairways are crisp. Course layout is challenging; some target golf and some long holes from the tips so bring your Big Dog and a go to 250 yard wood/hybrid. Rough could use a little water and trimming. Biggest issues were with the tee boxes and bunkers. Tee boxes need evenly grown green grass and to be leveled out. Bunkers need to have a consistent sand type and be maintained to stay as soft as the sand type will allow. This course has so much potential, and it’s been over a year since Troon has taken over but I haven’t seen the “world class golf experience” as described by Mike Ryan, E-VP, COO, Troon.

Absolutely stunning

This course was amazing. I’ve played 5 rounds this year all in the last month and this takes the cake. Now it is pricey to play early in the day, but I got my time on GolfNow for less than half the normal rate and played at 2:00PM with 3 other guys.

The tee boxes were immaculate. The fairways were green and ran out but not to the extent where you’d hit through them with a well placed shot. The greens showed no signs of aerification other than a little remnants of sand; but again, not enough to affect any shots coming into the green or affect any putts. I probably won’t play this course again unless I find another steal for a tee time because it’s an hour away for me, but if price isn’t too concerning, this course is well worth a go.

Dry dry dry...there's better for $35

I played El Conquistador-Conquistador May 30th 2014 with 3 friends and things were sour to begin with. To start, there were mats on the driving range. 2nd the range balls looked like they were 15 years old and had been baking in the sun since they came out of the package. Someone walked away with my friend's driver on the range and when my buddy reported it missing the manager told us, "he didn't have te staff" to go look for it in the groups ahead of us. Then as I went to go talk to a different staff member, a staff member came driving around from the cart barn with it.

No to the course review- the course was unacceptable in terms of dryness. I can understand it is summer in tucson, but this was beyond dry. The front 9 was the worst of it and the back 9 wasn't as bad but there was no grass on both 9s in the rough to chip from. I felt like I was at a links course in Scotland and could put my way in to the green. The greens were also really dry on the front but the back they were nice; hard but nice.

I do not recommend playing this course unless the price is $10 or less.
