Bear's Best Las Vegas
Played On 07/19/2018Soooo close to being our weekly track!
Overall, Bear's Best Las Vegas is one of the most intriguing and fun tracks in town. We've played the course thrice over the last three weeks and have little to gripe about. For reference, our typical rounds are played at Arroyo, Paiute, Palm Valley, Siena, Highland Falls, and Spanish Trails. Bear in mind, it's hard to find a course in perfect condtion at this point in the Summer in Vegas, but this review is framed relative to the courses in the area at this same timeframe.
Pros:
-Beautiful layout in the most scenic area of Las Vegas.
-Really nice variety of hole distances, fairway & green shapes & layouts, bunker placement, and elevation gain.
-Tee boxes, bunkers, rough, and fairways are basically perfect (July 2018).
-The practice facility is top-notch, especially the chipping area.
-The selection and pricing at the bar is surpringly vast and very reasonable (Get a Moscow Mule).
-Staff is very friendly.
Cons:
-Practice greens are immaculate but that's not representative of course experience.
-It's difficult to maintain premium greens in the Vegas Summer but the rest of the course is so nice, it seems like it's really possible the greens could handle a faster pace. Arroyo, Spanish Trail, and Paiute are all running much faster (better) ATM.
-Course is notorious for unfixed divots on fairways and greens because of the high percentage of tourist play.
-We are locals and I always get a better deal on GN than the phoned in resident rate.
Our group would play there once a week for sure if the greens had a little more TLC and management came up with better tiered locals rates. Thanks for having us and providing a great golf experience.
