Beaverton Golf Course
Played On 08/28/2023Rehabing my game
Course is well maintained, greens in excellent shape. Most holes are dead straight with fairly wide fairways and few obstacles. Only the 1st and 5th holes have water as an actual hazard. It is a pretty much flat course. No standing water anywhere on the course.

Played On 04/25/2023Great challenge for iron play
Course was in impeccable condition. Not a blemish on any green. No puddles, no mud anywhere. A rather cool spring day. Only one other player on the course beside myself. Most greens are very small so accuracy is a must.

Surprised by how clean the fairways and greens were (no leaves, twigs, etc.) as opposed to another nearby course played a few days earlier. The grass on the greens was beautiful although there were many ball marks but that's the fault of my fellow players. Play was a bit slow as many were out enjoying the barely above freezing temperatures this first day of December.

Played On 10/14/2016Beautiful Fall Afternoon
The course was recommended by a friend and was BETTER than "advertised". Tee time was 12:22 on a Friday. There were only a few others on the course. The fall colors and the view of the lake added to my enjoyment. The course was in pretty good condition considering the brutal summer weather. A number of fairways sloped both toward the green and laterally right. I enjoyed trying to take advantage of both by trying to drive the ball left so it would get extra distance going down hill, forward and right. Many of the greens sloped down hill away from the player so that most balls landing on the green from a distance would roll to the back edge or off the green entirely. Something to remember in the future. Otherwise, putts rolled pretty true.
It's about a 1.5 hour drive from home but I will do it again a few times next year.

I've played this course probably 10 times since about 1990. This time I was asked to join three other men that I did not know who were riding (I was walking). They were very nice, about my age and about my skill level. All great. The course was in excellent shape and lucky for me, for some reason, most of the tee markers were all bunched together on most holes so that all but the "ladies" tees were joined. We never had to wait for anyone in front of us and the 4 some following us were not able to keep up with us. So that was good too. The fairways and greens were perfect. The greens seemed rather flat and unchallenging. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

First time I ever played this course. Read some negative reviews that must have been written by people who should have started their day with a bowl of prunes. The greens were immaculate - by far the best I've seen this year and this was my 18th round. The fairways were also in great (perfect) shape. OK, having said that, I will say this. I am not a long hitter, in fact, I do not play with a driver - because I'm hopeless with it. I prefer to make most tee shots with a 3 wood. Mostly, I bogeyed just about every hole but that really pleases me. I did not lose a ball and was always in play. Maybe that's a minus - the course was not challenging enough for higher calibre players than me. All I needed to cope with was the distance.
Having shot a 93 I came away being impressed with my play.
Blackwater Golf Course
Played On 09/10/2014Tough Greens
Challenging course which I will try again. Unlucky to play the day all the greens had been aerated. The surface of ALL greens were like workshop pegboards which made putting nearly impossible. The greens were difficult enough without that as all or most of them had severe slopes leading away from the pins. Also, beware of hidden water. Many optical illusions hiding water from view. Tough on first time players.

On one hand, this was a pretty easy course to play as there was only a couple of water hazards and the fairways were so wide that it was almost impossible to lose a ball either left or right (although I did manage to lose one). On the other hand, the greens were pretty tough. I like to think I'm a pretty good putter but these greens gave me fits.
Play was slow. We always had at least one two-some waiting to play the next hole ahead of us - sometimes two twosome's were waiting to play ahead of us.
I prefer a faster, steadier pace of play and hate to wait for long periods for the fairway to clear. But this couldn't be helped.
