Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run
Played On 03/20/2024Great Day at Golden Bear
Let’s just say you should have got a 4-1/2 to 5 star across the board, BUT the pace of play was poor and your Marshall’s did little to nothing to improve it. That was as frustrating as dealing with the group in front of us. On hole #2 they spent 10 full minutes looking for their drives. We never saw a group in front of them until the 14th hole. The charity guy on hole #4 (par 3) said the group in front of that group was already at least 12 to 15 minutes ahead of the group in front of us. Which makes total sense. After our ordeal on #2. The Marshall warned them on hole #3 before he even saw us to say he attempted to hurry them up. Said he would be back. Saw him on 7 and said the same thing. Talked to the starter who said we were only 10-15 minutes behind. Our round was just over 4-1/2 hours, but should have been 3-1/2 to 3-3/4 if they were not there or let us pass. All I heard is they are members, they are not the owners, so no excuse. Too bad as the course was in great shape and it was a great day to play.

Don’t let the clubhouse fool you with its older appearance. This course is a must if you are anywhere near this place. I haven’t played here in several years, but once again I was not disappointed. The course offers a selection of tee blocks that any low or high handicapper would be comfortable playing. The tee blocks, fairways, traps and greens were all in great shape. The greens were probably an 11 or quite quick. We were paired up with 2 local gentlemen who were exceptional to golf with. The round was about 4 hours, so the pace was good too. Definitely be back again.

The staff were very nice from the time we dropped our bags till we left at the end of the day. The reason I didn’t give the course layout an excellent rating is the 9th and 10th hole are probably located the furthest from the clubhouse. The hole layout was very good. As for the fairways, tee blocks, green and traps, they were good overall. Fairways are wide and forgiving. The choice of tee blocks was very good, giving both low and high handicappers a fair chance. I am a low handicapper and played the blue tees and totally enjoyed the round. There are a couple of challenging par 3’s from those tee blocks though. Definitely will play again when I am back in Collingwood.
Woodlands Links Golf Course
Played On 05/20/2023Not as good as rated
The course is good, but not as great as expectations from the reviews. There are a number of holes that have an unusual layout. The scorecard does show a brief overview, but not playing here previously makes it tough to judge where to position yourself for approach shots. The greens and tee’s were in good shape, along with the fairways. I can’t comment on the traps, as I never found one throughout my round (fairway or green side). Pace of play was slightly slow, but close to average (~4-1/2 hrs). The forward tee’s for the higher handicappers still made the course too challenging. I played from the back tee’s and the yardage was good for a low handicapper. Overall I would rate this course good at best. I may return to play in the future.

2nd time in the past month and the course has improved. Fairways look good and greens are getting firm and fast. Played with friends who totally enjoyed their round. Friendly staff and refreshment cart made it to us several times during our round. Looking forward to another round soon.
Thank you so much for the positive review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run.
Rose Hill Golf Club
Played On 03/07/2023Always Hopeful, but again Disappointing
Each March I hope the course has improved, but again I was disappointed. The layout is great, the staff and facilities are good, but the course just doesn’t improve. This year started differently as I recall old gas carts, but they had upgraded to good electric carts. Unfortunately the greens are probably worse this year than last year and the fairways also need some attention. The greens have weeds on them and the surface is cracking on several greens. The tee blocks are poor as well. We paid almost $45 each, but it would need to be $20-25 before I try there again. Again, it’s too bad, because the layout is very good, with water on several holes. Fingers crossed that the owners find a greenskeeper who can restore the fairways and greens.

Arrive about 45-50 minutes prior to our tee time. Pro Shop staff very courteous and helpful. Informed me of our tee time and suggested if we get to the course right away, we could tee off well ahead of schedule. Marshall/Starter was just as polite too. Played as a twosome and we were very lucky to pass a foursome on hole 2 and a threesome on hole 4. After that we never reached a group in front of us until the 18th hole. Pace of play was unbelievable at about 3 hours 10 minutes. Marshall out in the 16th fairway fixing divots, was again very pleasant as well. Course was in pretty good shape, large greens, but pin placements on a few of the holes made for some very challenging putts. Definitely return again.

As usual, still one of my favourite courses on the island. Good value for your money. Great layout. Fairways and greens should improve in March and April. Greens rolled well. Staff friendly in the Pro Shop, including the starter, and the Marshall. Maintenance were courteous to the golfers too.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We hope to see you back soon for another great experience!
Millcroft Golf Club
Played On 06/17/2022Long time, will be back
Course is short, but lots of doglegs keep it challenging. Tee blocks and greens in good shape, but sand traps very poor. A dusty brown sand, with lots of stones throughout. Minimal sand, so hard to play typical bunker shots. All in all I will return. Pace of play was typical at about 4:15.
Millcroft Golf Club
Played On 06/17/2022Pleasant well kept course
First time here in 30 years. Layout is good, opportunity there to use irons due to many doglegs. Fairways and greens in very good shape. Unfortunately there are many traps throughout the course and from what I could see they all require sand. The minimal amount in the traps along with lots of stones, makes playing out of them a challenge. You can’t hit traditional sand shots, you are required to rather lift your shots clean, which is definitely not practical in green side traps. The course is short, even from the blues which are roughly 5700 yards. Pace of play was slightly slow at 4:30-4:45 for the round. Think I saw a Marshall on the 4th or 5th hole. All in all I would give it another go possibly this year or next.
Rose Hill Golf Club
Played On 04/06/2022Unfortunately in Poor Shape
I tried to play here once a year when I travel to Hilton Head. It’s too bad that for the past 5 years now, this course is spiralling in a downward trend. The layout has always interested me on continuing to hope that next year things would improve. But it’s not. The fairways and tee blocks are mostly weeds. The greens are patchy at best, no real straight putts thanks to aeration and dirt/grass. The sand traps were hard and need more sand. It’s sad because like I said, the layout and yardage is what I like the most. If the rounds were $20-25 maybe, but not $60+.
Will no longer risk until I consistently see good reviews.

Galleon/Brigantine at Shipyard Golf Club
Played On 04/03/2022Galleon/Clipper at Shipyard
Course again was on the slow side, basically waited at every tee for the foursome in front of us. Today there was a Marshall who came out and eventually pushed the group in front of us. They left the 7th green more than 2 holes behind the group ahead of them. Initially they were quicker, but again were slow on the back nine. Thankfully they at least tried to be faster. Because of this pace, the rating for the course was lower. Fairways not too bad of shape, greens are good and fast, unfortunately the traps require sand as most are hard bottoms. The design/layout is great and the water hazards can cause you to lose strokes. Like the 4 tee blocks, wish the group ahead used the forward tees though. Gators were nice to see, but many more are on the Brigatine nine which we didn’t play today.
Thank you for your repeat visit!

One of my favourite courses on the island. Tough finding good deals this year, but this was my best deal in 7 weeks. GolfNow came through with 2 sweet deals Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Pace was slow on Clipper, but managed to slide over to Brigatine for 2nd nine instead of Galleon behind the slower groups. Turned out to be a great 2nd nine, because the gators were out on almost every hole. No disappointment if you like gators, with the big daddy on the 15 tee block (20 feet from cart path). Pace of play was much better too. Course was in good shape, greens pretty good and quite fast paced. Love that they have multiple tee blocks (red-green-white-blue) allowing my wife to play red-green and me at blue.
We appreciate your very detailed comments. See you again soon!
Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run
Played On 03/30/2022Slow Day at Golden Bear
Typically I would rate this course 4-1/2 to 5 stars, but today was an extremely SLOW day. Tee off scheduled for 2:32 pm, but we didn’t get out till 2:45 pm. From there it just got slower. We waited on every tee block and in the fairway on most of our approach shots. If a Marshall was out there, he didn’t move them along. After the 8th or 9th hole, we never saw the groups in front of the one in front of us. Finished front 9 in 2 hours 25 minutes, then another 2 hours 25 minutes for the back nine. Finishing right at 7:35 pm. I have never had as long a round here in the last 20+ rounds here over the past 6 years. Thankfully I will consider this a one of but the other pair that was with us it was their first round. Not a good first impression. Typically play this course in 4 hours. As for the course, it is still one of the best on Hilton Head Island. Quickly, the greens were mostly in pretty good shape and fast. Tee blocks and fairways good. Definitely will return and hoping to get back to a 4 hour round.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!

Check in was simple. Staff courteous. Facility in great shape. Course is always a favourite of mine to play multiple times when I travel to Hilton Head. It is reasonably priced and always in good shape. The layout is great. Challenging doglegs regardless if you are a high or low handicapper. I believe there are 5 tee blocks (green, white, gold, blue & black). Traps could use some more sand and the greens were in good to great shape for February. Look forward to a few more rounds here this year. Round took just over 4 hours, not bad for a busy day.
Thank you for your review. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
The Club at Savannah Harbor
Played On 02/21/2022Good Value
First time playing here. Staff inside the clubhouse and the starter were both very pleasant. Pace of play was basically 4 hours, May have been quicker, but never saw a Marshall. Course layout quite good. I played gold tee blocks and my wife green. Lengthy course but I am a low handicapper. Ponds and sand traps were strategically placed. Greens were on the larger size, but unfortunately they were in poor to fair shape. Once the greens get better and the fairways a little too, this course could easily be ranked 4 or more. I will be back again.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us, Orangutanmike. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting The Club at Savannah Harbor, and we hope to see you again in the future.

Beautiful day to golf. Love this course. Recommend to anybody to play here. Worth the extra cost compared to local courses. None can compare to quality. Only issue today was waiting at every tee. Pace was close to 4-1/2 hours. Greens in great shape, even the traps seem better. You must play here.
Deerhurst Highlands Golf Course - Deerhurst Highlands
Played On 10/18/2020Fall Special
Every year we head to Huntsville to enjoy a round of golf on the Highlands course. The colours are spectacular in mid October. We did get some rain on a few holes on an already soft course. Unfortunately we had to stay on cart paths, but the pace of play was still good at 4-1/2 hours. Besides a few extremely wet areas, the course was in very good shape. To be able to still play golf in mid October was very sweet. Greens and sand traps were very good. Staff is very excellent here.
Rocky Crest Golf Club
Played On 10/16/2020Favourite Course north of Barrie
This course never lets me down. I have so many favourite holes on this course. The 6th par 5 from the tips is a must. The 8th par 3 into or with a cross wind is extremely tough. The 12th par 5 with the pond all along the last 200 yards to the green. But my most favourite is the par 5 18th hole. Your first shot must carry the fescue and if you are far enough to look down the fairway on your 2nd shot, the view of the log cabin clubhouse is spectacular.
About the conditions. The course was is very good shape considering all of the recent rain. Cart paths were a must and the pace of play was obviously slower at about 4-1/2 hours due to walking across the wet and wide fairways. Greens and sand traps were in pretty good shape and they were still fast. Staff are excellent here. A must play if you have never been here before.
We're truly sorry for the frustration caused by the pace of play and the ineffective marshaling you experienced. Thank you for acknowledging the condition of the course and for taking the time to bring this to our attention.
