Makalei is a fun course with good scenery. There are several peacocks, turkeys, nene, and a few other wild birds on almost every hole, but in a good way (with the exception of some droppings on a couple of greens). It is not in immaculate shape by any means, but it is probably the best price on the west side of the Big Island. There are several elevation changes and some challenging holes.

Overall, it was a good experience, but mostly because we were able to get a good Hot Deal from Golf Now. It is like many of the Hawaii courses...over priced! I really do not understand the theory of charging so much to play in Hawaii. We would play so much more with better pricing. After all, there are many activities to do in Hawaii. Some of the holes have very nice views of the ocean. The course does have some elevation changes but it is pretty forgiving. It is too bad that the Kona Mountain Course closed a few years ago. The cart guy was a bit snarky (which hurt the Staff Friendliness rating), but all the other staff were very friendly.

The course conditions and layout are both very nice. However, there are now houses (and condos) around the entire course, which is too bad but understandable. The pace of play is a problem on this course.

I like several holes on this course, as they are fun and have character. However, the course condition is not good. It needs care ASAP. The value and the holes make it worth playing.

This is a good course, but it is there is no good way to get there (very far east on 192). The prices increased significantly this year, so we were skeptical to travel that far. We do like the course. It has some challenging and fun holes. You may want to consider moving up one tee box due to the length.

This course has a fun layout. The only "issue" is the back-to-back par 5's on the first two holes (separation would be better). There are a bunch of holes that have character that make this course fun. It is, however, not in good shape, but it is worth the value if you can get a good Hot Deal on GolfNow or TeeOff.

This is a good course that can be very challenging from the back two tee boxes. It has some really good holes. It is in good shape, but not great shape. The problem with this course is that it is quite a distance from the main Central Florida area. The rates increased over the last year and they are not overly enticing for traveling that far for what you get, especially since there are so many courses at reasonable prices that are much closer.

Panther Lake is a nice course. It has a good layout for all levels, with five different tee boxes. It is in really good shape. The only issue is that it is hard to get a good rate if you are not a county or a Florida resident. It would be nice to have a "Friends and Family" package that other area courses provide.

This course is nice with a good layout. The course was not in the best condition, but it was still pretty good. When I played it in the past, it was in better condition. For those of us who are not local, the primary issue with this course is the price. It is often difficult to find a reasonable price.

This course has a really good layout and it is in very good shape. It is challenging but fair. I highly recommend this course. It is very different from the National and International ChampionsGate courses, and I think it is much better than those two courses.

This course has a nice layout and it was in great shape. We enjoy both championship courses at Orange County National (Crooked Cat and Panther Lake), and there is certainly enough of a difference between the two to want to play both. Crooked Cat is challenging but fair. Although the yardage is similar (3,406 front 9 and 3,521 back 9 from the orange tee boxes), the back 9 plays longer and has a bit more character, but both sides are very good.

The PGA qualifier was about 10 days ago and the course is still in great shape. We were glad GolfNow offered this course at a good rate. It was a real pleasure to play it again.

This course is in horrible condition. Apparently, they are in the process of building over 500 homes around the course, but the construction around is not the problem. The problem is they have completely neglected the course during construction, which I understand is supposed to last for about four years. The only maintenance appears to be mowing the grass...in the places that actually have grass. If you are buying one of these new homes for the golf experience, keep in mind how they are neglecting it now. Interestingly, we met someone who had recently played it and she warned us that it was unplayable. She said it was not worth $15, but we had already purchased our passes. Too bad we did not meet her a few days earlier! Due to the incredibly slow pace, we paired-up with a couple of guys from the area who said they would not go back.

This course is in good shape and it has a good layout. We had a good rate through GolfNow, but the rates are otherwise pretty high for the non-residents, especially when compared to other comparable courses in the area.

I really like this course. It has a good layout and it is in great shape. There is no comparison between this course and the ChampionsGate National and International courses, as this course is much, much better. The only cons are the clubhouse (it is essentially a construction trailer) and the distance between some of the holes on the front 9. I recommend switching the front 9 and the back 9 because there is no development on the back 9, so it is a much better experience.

This is a nice course in good condition. I loved the greens, which were extremely fast. There was limited sand in the bunkers; it was much like hardpan. It had a good practice facility. However, probably due to the TPC, it was overrated. We were able to get a decent deal through GolfNow.

The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in decent shape, but much of the rest of the course was beat-up (bunkers and anything off the fairways). The layout was OK, but there are surrounding houses in close proximity on most of the course. We played for a reasonable price through GolfNow, which made it worth playing. It was extremely windy when we played (40 to 50 mph gusts); thus, making it very challenging.

The entire course was in good shape and fun to play. I definitely recommend this course.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Although it is the type of course that would be nice to play once or twice to learn a couple of the holes better, it was very fair. The conditions were very good, the views were excellent, and the value was good. I definitely recommend this course.

I really enjoyed all the Paiute courses and this one is no exception. The layout and conditions were very good. The only bad thing was that the greens were recently punched. It was otherwise a treat to play at a reasonable price.
