Not the course I'd heard about

Well from start to finish...here we go. We were able to tee off a little early due to the light crowd on a Sunday morning. The guy in the pro shop said there was a small group that went out earlier, but we shouldn't have any issues running up on them. We caught them in 4 holes. I was 2 foursomes that I later found out were members. Apparently if you live on the course or are a member...golf etiquette goes out the window. Fresh pitch marks on the green not repaired, putting and re-putting, not realizing people are stacking up behind you and allowing them to play through...I could keep going. Now on to the course. The tee boxes were utter garbage. They were uneven and more sand/dirt than grass...and we won't even talk about the fire ants. Bunkers were hard and rocky. No ranger to keep pace of play moving. It took us 4 hours to play what I believe is a 3 hour or less course. On the positive side of things. The carts are newer, fuel injected models. The staff was nice. A bad day on a mediocre golf course with the sun shining is still a good day compared to being stuck at the house. Can't say I'll be spending anymore money to play Cobb's Glen in the future.

Nice Course To Be State Managed

Nice course...would have been a little better round had it not rained the night before. But we still had fun. The jewel of this course is the cart paths. Segmented concrete with minimal defects. Smooth ride from hole to hole. Pro shop staff and the starter were top notch. The folks in the cafe, that's a little different story. They were almost apathetic to the requests of guest. Several food items or toppings weren't available and this wasn't disclosed until after the order was paid for. Nice views of various parts of Lake Russell. Will definitely try to get back down there and play when the weather cooperates a little better. I'll just plan on bringing stuff to eat on the course instead of utilizing their cafe.

Fun but soupy

Fun course. Looks to be well maintained. Was a soupy mess though after heavy rains the previous night. Tough playing when trapping the ball on iron shots is nearly impossible due to just the sheer amount of water on the surface. Will definitely try to play again in drier conditions.

Nice course...needs a little work

Overall, it’s a nice course. When I played it was a soupy mess from a storm the day before. Fairways didn’t seem to drain very well though. Greens were ridiculously soft as would be expected with rainfall. I’d say it would play very well when dry. Cart paths get worse the farther you get from the clubhouse. Service was good, but everyone was really young and rather awkward. I’d play again when in the area, but wouldn’t travel just to play this course.

Beautiful Course...people playing it, not so much

Overall the course would be fit for any level player. It does play a little more narrower than most though. Beautiful Mountain View’s with creeks through the course. The 8th tee box borders a nice little waterfall. Pace of play however was atrocious. People played without regard that groups were backing up behind them. There was no course marshal to keep the pace moving along and numerous calls to the clubhouse went unanswered. So I guess people just did as they pleased. We actually completely skipped 2 holes just to get around a couple of foursomes or else we wouldn’t have finished 18 before running out of daylight...keep in mind we teed off at 1240. I would definitely play the course again, just with a way earlier start time to ensure we get to complete 18 holes.
