Eagle Nest Golf Club
Played On 05/28/2019Eagles Nest A Solid Course
Course was in decent shape. Greens were in good shape, some pock marks from PEOPLE NOT FIXING THEIR BALL MARKS! C'mon man it's a badge of honor to fix em!. But they all rolled true. Fairways were nice and wide and the rough was mower height or two higher than the fairways.. The back 9 was much tougher than the front with 3 tough finishing holes. This wood be a good course to warm up Overall i liked this course.
River Hills Golf & Country Club
Played On 06/20/2018Awesome Layout But.........
Greens were recently punched and top dressed. I'd give it a couple weeks to let them recover before venturing out here. But what a fun and challenging course! Accuracy is a must with bunkers, water and dog legs throughout. The front was a lot easier than the back with shorter par 4's and 3's. The back kicked my butt Carries over water, tight fairways etc.. The greens are all kidney shaped and smaller than what you'll find on most of the courses down here. The fairways were a little toasty with some bare spots(I just roll it on to some grass) and not much rough. I would give it 5 stars and a must play if it was in better shape. but it's been a rough winter down here. I'll definitely be back. I'm gonna give it some time though.
Arcadian Shores Golf Club
Played On 06/18/2018New Cart Paths at Arcadian
Course is in good shape Some of the fairways are a little toasty (If you hit it in the fairway and it lands in a bare spot, just roll it on to some grass this ain't the Open man) but for the most part they're OK. Greens were in outstanding condition. Rolled nice and held fine. Every hole is guarded by bunkers and there are some 2nd shot carries over water(see photo). Its not that long but accuracy is key(isn't it always?) if you want to score. And as an added pleasure, all the cart paths have been re-done.It Was like riding on the Garden State Parkway.
West at Tamarack Golf Course
Played On 06/13/2018Hackin' at the Rack
Before you come to play here you have to remember that you are playing a PUBLIC course and could be subject to a 5 hour round. Nothing can be done. The rangers are not coming out to hurry people along. Right now, the course is in the best shape since I began playing here 20 years ago. They actually closed the West course down for most of the winter and put up temps for the rest of it to let the course recover from the season which they've never done. They've taken down a bunch of trees to open it up, put actual golf sand in the bunkers, new mats on the range. The greens aren't perfect(remember it's a PUBLIC course) but for the most part, they hold and roll just fine. The West gets the most play but the East while somewhat less challenging is a solid course also.

And each one of them is a gem. This facility is top notch. A bunch of courses got hit hard this winter and are in bad shape, yet still charge premium prices. This place is in fantastic shape tee to green and is moderately priced for down here. Lots of eye candy with plenty of water and shot making holes. Definitely recommended.
Caledonia Golf & Fish Club

That's what your gonna say right from the beginning entrance drive down the tunnel of oaks and Spanish moss. We caught a break on the price cause they were running a special in conjunction with Folds of Honor where you donated $10 on top of the greens fees. Cost $69!! Somebody call a cop! Anyway, As you would expect with such a pricey course( prime rounds are around $150) it was in magnificent condition from tee to green. It's annually voted by popular Golf magazines as one of the top 100 you can play and they ain't joking. Great layout with 3 tees to chose from. Not overly long but accuracy is a key if you want to score here. Greens were impeccable. the only gripe i could come up with is the lack of yardage markers. I'd suggest bringing your range finder. If money is not an object get down here and play this course or you can wait til the off season and get it slightly cheaper. It does not disappoint,

Free breakfast and lunch included with every round!Great layout with some very eye pleasing holes. Course wasn't that long coming in at just under 6000 from the whites. You might be tempted to play from the blues at 6400 but settle down fella your not that good. Stick to the whites wherever you play.Lot's of water on the back with gators in them to so beware. The 3's were all short except for one with a few island greens. Very nice! Greens were all in good condition and roll nice with lots of buried volkswagons and baby elephants.Disappointed in the shape of the fairways though. There was grass, but it was fairly thin. Nice course, with a great layout. If your in the area it's worth a shot but i wouldn't travel to play it.
Indigo Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/29/2017Nothing Blue About This Track
It's all green. Unfortunately I played here after a torrential rain the night before and the course was SATURATED. Not overly long, it played at 6200 on the scorecard but my 225 yd(that's the average that an amateur hits it fellas and so do you) drives were plugging everywhere they landed. The fairways were not the typical wide-open ones you find down here accuracy was needed on most if not all holes. No par 4's over 400 and the 5's were very manageable. The greens were smaller than most of the courses down here too. If it wasn't so wet(nothing they can do about that) I would rate it's condition as excellent All of the bunkers are going to need replenishment though. I'll definitely be back when it dries up.
Willbrook Plantation Golf Club
Played On 06/22/2017Willbrook still a gem.
Played here in March and was very impressed so I thought I'd introduce my buddies to this place. They loved it. Got some heavy rain the night before so the fairways weren't rolling, but the greens they were a holdin'! Course is in great shape. They are gonna punch the greens next week though so beware.
Witch Golf Club
Played On 06/21/2017The Witch Wasn't Wicked
Played the morning after a torrential downpour so the course was soaked, car path only. I found the front much tougher than the back with a few long 4's. All the 5's were 3 shot holes for me with a couple doglegs to manage. The par 3's were all mid-iron for me which is muy bueno! Greens were punched a week ago but they weren't terrible. The course requires some shot making and there are some carries over marshes. I found the layout to be nice. There's gators out here so be careful by the water and bring some bug spray or get a dryer sheet(had heard about this on line somewhere and I'll be damned it works!) from the pro shop. i'd come back. Fun course to play.
Possum Trot Golf Course
Played On 06/19/2017Playin" Possum
Read a review on a brochure that said that of all the Glens courses this was the most player friendly. I've played them all now and i agree. Wide fairways and not as long as the other Glen courses. There is some water(not much) and some bunkers( again not much I found one all day and of course it was right against the lip. Took three to get out, made a snowman.) All the par 3's were mid irons and the 5's were very manageable. The greens had been punched a week prior but they still rolled better than the local muni I play up north. They were holdin' too Fairways were in excellent shape and the rough was not that bad..It's not a WOW! course but as some of the reviewers have stated before, it's a good one to get going on and build some confidence. The price is defintely right .
Heather Glen Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 05/25/2017Another Glen Gem
Played all three nines. It's a Links course with all the pot bunkers around the greens, swales and buried volkswagons in the fairways placed in an American style layout. Woods frame every WIDE fairway. Had a torrential downpour the night before so it was cart path only which made it a little longer to play. I found the Red and White more to my liking and skill as there weren't many 375-400 4's. All the par 3's were mid irons which suits me just fine. The fives were also manageable too. The Blue was the tougher of the 3 with quite a few loooong 4's. Course was in fantastic shape although because of the rain there was no roll in the fairways. No complaints about the greens either. I like 'em slow and to hold my iron shots and they were both. Prolly cause of the rain cause most greens down here are slick. Next up for me is Possum Trot and if it's like any of the other 3 Glens courses, I know I won't be disappointed. Huzzah!

Included in the round was a buffet style breakfast. Bacon, sausage, eggs, home fries, and a drink! Course was in great condition. Fairways in great shape, HUGE undulating greens in superb condition. Where you putted the ball, that's where it went. Very scenic course built on a former plantation with plenty of water an well guarded greens. I found the back much tougher than the front. If I was gonna nitpick some of the tees were a little ratty. But who G.A.S. about that? Your putting it on a tee man! At the end of the round we were treated to a complimentary lunch and 2 drinks. Are you freaking kidding me? Get down here and play this course people it's well worth it.
Tidewater Golf Club
Played On 05/22/2017Roll Tide!
Nice layout. Bunch of tough par 4's over 400 with wind(it's by the ocean so count on it). There are some shorter ones too so that ain't so bad. The 5's were more to my liking. All 3 shot holes for me but manageable. The 3's were all mid-iron at 140- 175 yds. Most of the HUGE undulating greens were well guarded with bunkers that required you to flight the ball in. They had just top dressed them and they were still fast so I imagine they'll be lightning quick at normal. Still, no complaints as they all rolled true and were in good shape. The only thing I can say bad about this course is the fringe around the greens were burned up.Don't know if someone who used to work there messed up and lowered the blade too much, or added the wrong fertilizer, but anything that rolled off the green kept rollin' rollin' rollin.. Also, they better get some rain or water on this place cause it was pretty dry. In fact, I was getting a lot of roll on the fairways. More than any course I've played down here. Not complaining, I welcomed it. Just a warning. In July and August it might burn up! I'd play here again.

Staff was fine. Don't understand how the staff can affect how some people on here review a golf course. I've never encountered a bad staff. I guess some people expect rose petals to be thrown at their feet as they pull up to the bag drop. Anyhoo, on to what matters. Course is in splendid shape tee to green. No rough to speak of as it's Feb.so that's an advantage. Front nine was nothing spectacular. Don't let the short 1st hole fool ya this course is a bear with a bunch of 375-400 4's. Nothing special about the front it's the back where the layout gets nice with some pretty holes with forced carries over water. Holes 9+18 were vicious with water running up one side of both and woods on the other side. Some nasty bunkers guard these holes too Greens are huge with some baby elephants buried in them. They are in great shape. It was pretty windy when i played and this course got me on this day but i'll be back to seek revenge.

Been wanting to check this one off my list for a while and I'm sorry I didn't do it sooner. It is now in my top 5 and will be bringing the fellas here when they come down. I played in the afternoon so it wasn't crowded at all. I've got nothing bad to say about this place. The course was in fantastic shape from tee to green. One of the most eye pleasing courses down here. Huge oaks with Spanish moss hanging, picturesque holes, and it's on a former plantation so there is some ( albeit not very good ) History here. There are plaques throughout the course detailing information about the place. I found it to be a challenging but fair course with some water hazards and well placed bunkers. The rough hadn't greened up yet so I guess if I was gonna get picky(and I'm not cause who cares about rough?) but every part of the fairways and greens was as green as St. Patty. The greens held all types of shots and rolled sweet. Get yourself down here to play this course. You won't be disappointed!
Barefoot Resort & Golf - Fazio Course
Played On 11/02/20164 to Choose From at Barefoot Landing
I got the Fazio. I tried to get on the Love as it was rated a top 100 you can play but no dice . First thing I think of when I hear "Resort Golf" is plush fairways, tee boxes and gorgeous scenery. Meh. Don't get me wrong the course was definitely up to my standards(which aren't very high). The layout was excellent, fairways pretty wide and in good shape and the greens were in super condition. They rolled true and straight. Not overly long, the par 3's are all mid-irons, there are plenty of bunkers(fairway and greenside) and water comes into play on a few holes. But there are plenty of courses either a 1/2 hour north or south of here that you can get the same conditions for $20-$30 less. Nothing against the course, I just thought it was a little overpriced.
River Club

Saw three of 'em at this course just sunning themselves by the fairway. Very cool. Found the course to be challenging but not overly difficult. Nice layout, I found the back 9 better than the front with some eye-pleasing holes. Fairways were in great shape, greens were also solid and rolled true. There is some water trouble on a lot of holes, but the fairways are wide. The par 3's are mid to long iron distance. Good fair course. I'd play it again.
Glen Dornoch Waterway Golf Links

Course was recommended to me by an employee of another course. The dude did not steer me wrong. One of the most picturesque courses down here. tees, fairways and greens all in good shape. Lots of deep bunkers guarding the greens and forced carries over waste areas. The fairways are pretty wide but they get you with your approach shots' You hit a bad shot you'll pay for it here. Course is built by the Intercoastal waterway and there are many holes that are appealing to the eye. Will definitely be back. Top 10 course down here.
Pine Lakes Country Club
Played On 08/23/2016"The Grandaddy"
With such a regal name I figured the course should be okay. It was more than OK. From tee to green it was in the best shape of any I played down here so far. The tee boxes were better than my carpet at home. There wasn't a bad lie in the fairway. The greens while quite slow(they leave them high to withstand the heat down here) were pristine also. A fair but challenging test of golf.On of the best I've played. Get out here.
