Rowallan Castle Golf Club
Played On 11/21/2018Best Value For Money Course In Ayrshire
We booked this course through Golf Now and had it not been for this website we would never have heard of Rowallan Golf Course.
The welcome by the Pro was warm and friendly and he took time to explain that due to overnight rain the course would be rather wet.
The course was long and challenging but “rather wet” was an understatement as the majority of fairways were sodden with the result that there was absolutely no run on the ball. Despite the time of year the tees and greens were in reasonable condition although several of the greens showed signs of disease.
The layout of the course was superb with some beautifully designed holes. A few of the holes have significant walks between the green and next tee.
This course has tremendous potential but major investment is required to address the serious drainage problems.
Largs Golf Club
Played On 11/20/2018Challenging Course With Great Views
Arrived early for our round and the welcome by the clubhouse staff was warm and friendly.
Despite it being mid November the course was in good condition with full greens and preferred lies.
The course is well laid out with a good variety of holes and provides a good challenge for golfers of all standards.
Newburgh-on-Ythan Golf Club
Played On 06/07/2018Stunning Views And A Good Variety Of Holes
This is a very interesting course with a good variety of holes. We played after a prolonged period of dry weather and although the fairways were hard and burnt the greens were in remarkably good condition.
Both the starter and clubhouse staff are warm and friendly and views from the large clubhouse first floor amongst the best you will get anywhere in the U.K.
Newburgh on Ythan does not have the appeal of its near neighbours on the Aberdeenshire coast but is very enjoyable to play and we would thoroughly recommend it to golfers.
Prestwick St Cuthbert Golf Club
Played On 04/25/2017Friendly And Welcoming
We have played all of the courses in South Ayrshire and Prestwick St Cuthberts is one of the best parkland courses. Despite it being early in the season the course was in good condition with lush fairways and smooth, true greens. At just over 6300 yards off the white tees it is not the longest of courses but the layout is challenging and maintains your interest.
We ate in the clubhouse after our round and the staff were warm and friendly. The menu is varied and provides excellent value for money.
