P.B. Dye Golf Club
Played On 02/19/2017Very decent course
When I for the first time played in this course with my friend, I didn't like it at all so for a long time I avoided going there.
Very recently I went there. I found it a very decent course and I enjoyed it very much. My skill must have been improved because I felt it fairly easy. Since that time I went there two more times and the course looks like my home course for the time being. During winter, green fee is reasonable especially after 2:00 p.m.
P B Dye designed the course very well. I may keep going to there for a while
Hampshire Greens Golf Course
Played On 07/12/2015Good course with challenge
I haven't played in this course almost three years so I felt like a new comer. Surprisingly this was a good and challenging course, and I enjoyed golf fully for five hours. I enjoyed it partially because I hit balls very well with a slightly modified swing form. Putting was the only problem I had that hurt my score.Usually it costs $60~$80 for a round, but thanks to GolfNow and its voucher, I played with only $5.
Clustered Spires Golf Course
Played On 07/26/2014Nice Municipal Coursen of Frederick, MD
This was the second time to play in this course. I remember it was a nice course when I played here in spring, so I wanted to challenge again and get better score this itme. I did. The score was 91, 9 improvement from the first time. Fisrt nine was 43. The course is relatively flat and fairways were open. Playing in this course is pleasant. My friend got 85. I recommend other people to come to this course. You will also have a good time.
The Links Course at Shenandoah Valley
Played On 06/07/2014Rough Ride in Shenandoah Valley
It was a great bargain for $10 on Saturday thanks to GolfNow. The course was good. Though the fairway was sometimes undistinguishable from the rough, the greens were generally well-maintained. The entire course was quite scenic. The cart path was not paved and very bampy, tough. I mostly drove on the rough. The pace was good up until 10th, where I was stuck with extraordinarily slow foursome. I passed through them in the 13th hole. I am glad that I spent $10 for this new experience even if I had to drive 70 miles to this course from my home.
Algonkian Golf Course
Played On 06/01/2014A Nice Course by the Potomac River
Algonkian is located in a regional park, and is adjacent to Trump National Country Club. The access road, Algonkian Parkway, is beautifully decorated with flowers and trees. The course was not so difficult, but some of par-3 holes exceeded 200 yards and were challenging. Some reviews said tha playing would be very slow and the entire course muddy, but that was not the case with us. I generally had a good time with two young unskillful guys.
UNC Finley Golf Course
Played On 11/29/2013Flat, Beautiful and Expensive Course
University of North Carolina's premier course which was ranked 52nd among favorite courses nationwide chosen by GolfNow customers. I was visiting my son who was attending Duke Univ. The course is flat. Bunkers and water are strategically located so it is not so easy to get high scores. Because of winter season, grass color has completely turned light brown except putting greens so it is almost undistinguishable between fairway and rough. But I liked the course and understood why it was ranked 52nd. It must be much nicer to play in this course in summer when grass is green. $52 with 29% discount by GolfNow is not cheap, though.
Glade Valley Golf Club
Played On 09/28/2013Flattest Course I Have Ever Played
A nice beautiful course located in northern Frederick, MD. The entire course is amazingly flat: no uphill fairways, no greens in a valley or no raised greens. I have never played such a flat course in the past. The course condition was good and it was a fun-to-play course. The weather was overcast with high temperature of low 70's, the ideal condition for golf. My score was around 90, but I could have had a better score because the course was relatively easy. The GolfNow price was $32, not a bad price for autumn weekend.
Whiskey Creek Golf Club
Played On 9/11/2013Beautuful Course, But Too Expensive For Me
A beautiful course designed by Ernie Else. I always wanted to try this course, but didn't because it was normally too expensive for me. This time GolfNow gave me an award and I went one round with my friend for free. What a deal! The course design, setting and maintenance are almost perfect. I was impressed. Each hole was challenging, but was not arbitrarily made difficult. Natural surroundings are spectacular. I couldn't find anything to complain about this course. However, it was the hottest day of the year with high temperature going up to 96 degrees. You could imagine how awful it was to play 18 halls in sauna!
WestWinds Golf Club
Played On 7/12/2013Surprisingly Beautiful and Interesting Course
I came here only once last year and didn't remember it very well. This time I was surprised that the course was beautiful, interesting and generally well-maintained. The course was not particularly difficult for me, but was sufficiently challenging. Because it was a rainy Friday and very few people were playing, I could go by myself and it took only three hours to finish 18 holes. Out was 45 and in was 43. I was not bored by this course at all until I finished 18th hole, that is rather rare. Besides, I played golf for only $13 thanks to GolfNow. What a deal! It was a real treat in Friday afternoon.
Little Bennett Golf Course
Played On 6/19/2013Mountainous Tough Course That Challenges All Your Skills
Mountainous tough public course which is a part of Montgomery County, MD, golf system. It was surprisingly well-maintained as other county courses were. I haven't been there for more than a year, but next month the county tournament will be held there. So I went to preview it. It was a difficult course because in many holes I couldn't see greens and fairways and I had to know the course well in order to hit the ball right. Because I had GPS and it helped me understand the direction to the green, I did so so well, but it was still tough. In a couple of par-3 holes, you literally hit the ball down the cliff. The management switched in 9 with out 9, so I started from hole 1 which used to be hole 10. Probably that was a better arrangement. In the in 9 there was a traffic congestion and it took almost three hours for 9 holes although it was Wednesday afternoon. GolfNow price was $26.50 which was reasonable.
Executive at Needwood Golf Course
Played On 6/11/2013Good Public Golf Course for Beginners and Intermediates
I have played in this course several times in the past, but haven't played for more than a year. A county tournament will be held here this coming weekend so I went there for practice. This public golf course was surprisingly well-maintained and its all-in-all impression was improved. It is a good golf course particularly for beginners and intermediates because it is relatively easy. If you keep hitting fairways and greens in regulation, you will get very good score. It's a par 70 course. It was weekday and I had to quit after 16th hole. I paid $25 with GolfNow reservation. It's not bad.
Goose Creek Golf Club
Played On 5/04/2013Beautiful Course with Charm and Flavor
Surprisingly beautiful public course with charm in Northern Virginia. The course is old, but is well-maintained. It was indeed one of the best public courses I have ever played. It reminded me a little of Torrey Pines in San Diego. I played on Saturday so it was very crowded and it took more than five hours! I should go there on weekdays. Yet I recommend everyone to play in this old-fashioned legendary course.
Falls Road Golf Course
Played On 4/09/2013Short, Crowded, and Not So Easy
A public course nearby my home I seldom go to because it is always crowded and the layout is not my favorite. The day I played was no exception. It was very crowded and it took almost 5 1/2 hours to finish 18 holes. I felt as if I was driving a car bumper to bumper in rush hour. My team mates were also slow players. It was a week day and I wasted a couple of work hours. The course is very popular because it is located close to Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. There are famous private country clubs nearby such as Congressional and TPC Potomac. The course layout is narrow and short, and it is not so easy to get good scores. I won't go there for a long time. I recommend you to go to any other courses if you want to play real golf. GolfNow's price of $16 was great, but I didn't feel it a bargain.
Richland Golf Club
Played On 4/03/2013A Beautiful Course
A beautiful course at the edge of Catoctin Mountains. Utilizing natural landscape, the course flows like a river and each hole has a character. It is not as challenging as nearby Maryland National, but it was still not easy for me to keep my score under 100. Some holes are too close to the adjacent housing development, though, and erratic hitters should be careful not to hit the ball to the backyard of those houses. The 18th hole has a beautiful and memorable setting near a pond and the grand club house which has capacity to host wedding celebration and other festive events. I enjoyed this course for mere $11.66 thanks to GolfNow.
Lake Presidential Golf Club
Played On 3/23/2013Long, Difficult, And Somewhat Detatched
The famous and proud Lake Presidential. This was the third time to play here. The first time I was very impressed, but the second time I found that the course was not well-maintained. This time the course was OK, but I didn't necessarily like it. The course was made artificially difficult. It's challenging, but not enjoyable. It's popular and crowded, and our tee time was delayed by thirty minutes. We had to stop at the 15th hole because of dusk. The course is located almost 40 miles away from my home. I didn't feel that it's worth driving that much in order to play here.
I paid only $19 with promotion thanks to GolfNow, so I shouldn't complain too much. The three guys I played with were all friendly. The weather was nice. It was OK.
Inside Nine at Northwest Park Golf Course
Played On 3/17/2013Good Grand Public Course
Surprisingly well-maintained good public course. It's also a long challenging course. I haven't gone there more than one year and the course was renovated "nicely". Greens are very smooth and the ball rolled so well that I had hard time to control putting speed for the first 9 holes. The course design is nothing spectacular or memoral, but is old-fashioned and grand. The two guys who played with me were friendly. I had nothing to complain about this course particularly because GolfNow let me play there only for $7.42 with promotion! Thank you.
University of Maryland Golf Course
Played On 02/12/2013Challenging Course for All Skills
This is an unexpectedly challeging course because of its lengh and well-protected greens. Fairways are not narrow and are relatively open, so its difficulty is being disguised. I had hard time to keep my score in 90s. It is a part of the UMD system, so everything including golf shop and locker room is kept clean and nice. Its practice facility is excellent. I like this old course partly because it reminds me of my second son who graduated from UMD last year and is now in the doctorate course of Gerogia Tech in Atlanta.
Rattlewood Golf Course
Played On 02/09/2013Nice Public Course With Mediocre End
This is a good public course run by a county. The course is surprisingly well-maintained. There were some interesting holes in out-nine, but in-nine holes were rather short and none of them were memorable. Because of mediocre ending, I didn't feel myself satisfied.
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
Played On 02/06/2013Gary Player, Gary Player
Gary Player's signature course. Some beautiful and memorable holes. The greens and fairways are well maintained even in winter. Yet it is not particularly a difficult or challenging course. It has a beautiful clubhouse, so it could be wonderful for corporate entertainment. It's not worth the retail high prices but was well-worth the GolfNow's special price of $20. Thank you, GolfNow.
Cross Creek Golf Club
Played On 02/02/2013A Compact OK Course
Third time to have played there. It's a short par 69 course. Some good interesting holes. A few holes were under renovation. It's situated in the woods so the impression of the entire course was dim, but the monetary value was great for less than $20.
