Panther Run Golf Club
Played On 11/12/2013Wide open - long way to travel
It's a trip out there.
Very wide and frankly little challenge. The greens roll well with modest slopes.
I would not go again as I found it hard to take seriously.
TPC Treviso Bay
Played On 11/10/2013Good course with issues
Its a good layout but;
- greens were slow
- NO GPS on carts but lots of hazards - a yardage book in small print is not helpful
- pin positions sheet: white numbers on a yellow/while background - a joke.
Arrowhead Golf Course
Played On 11/9/2013packed into a housing development
Its not in great shape and is packed in. This maybe OK for high handicappers but no strong golf memory of Arrowhead.
Bonita Bay East - Sabal Course
Played On 2/22/2013Sabel = my favorite of the two
I really enjoyed my round. It starts a little open and easy (like the sister course) but gets a bit tighter earlier. In fact this 18 switches it up well -easy/tough. The traps are not deep and there is little water but it does make you think and each hole is very separate from the others + no houses. The Par 5 (11th) is a brute into the prevailing wind! The greens are (like the sister course) very fast and quite sloppy - look out!
Bonita Bay East - Sabal Course
Played On 2/19/2013OK - if a bit odd
I would probably rate 3.75 for the course as it was not quite what I expected and not that appealing to me. If you bomb it from the tee you will be fine as there is virtually no trouble off the tee. Approaches into tricky greens are key. The green surfaces undulate but not crazily and the roll is true and fast. The back nine is more picturesque than the front. 3 of 4 Par 3 holes are long and tough.
With the course conditions and reasonable rate I would recommend.
Old Corkscrew Golf Club
Played On 2/14/2013it was not worth $180+
Super layout and friendly staff. Every hole interesting.
It appears to have run out of cash - greens were poor color and don't putt well, no defined collars on greens. Tees/bunkers in poor shape, as was the rest of the course .
The design is great(although most holes favor a fade - thanks Jack) and I would play again and go further back on the tees but while its the height of the season conditioning is poor and the $180 is not value. Staff very friendly/helpful.
