Hawk/Eagle at Pine Knob Golf Club
Played On 10/09/2017Wonderful Course!
Had to go to the Detroit area on business and decided to play a course in the area. Sorted golf now choices by customer ratings and this one came out on top. Having played it, I see why. Absolutely in excellent condition tee to green! Almost like playing an expensive resort course. We were there on a Monday so it wasn't terribly crowded. My fiance and I played the first seven holes in just under an hour before we caught up to the group ahead of us on number 8. Took another half hour to play 8 and 9. We stopped for lunch at the turn and you should too. The burgers are to die for. Our thinking was we'd let the group ahead of get out on the back nine and we'd catch them around hole 6 or so and it wouldn't slow us down much. It didn't quite work out that way. We had started ahead of two older women on the front nine and forgot about them since there was no one to slow us up. We took and hour for lunch and when we went to the tee on the back side, these two women were just teeing off. Needless to say, they've never heard of the concept of letting faster golfers play through so the back nine took over two and a half hours. Frustrating but the weather was perfect so we just tried to relax and deal with it. Because of the course conditions and the weather it turned out fine. If you're in the area this is one course you shouldn't miss!
Sugar Isle Golf Course
Played On 09/20/2015Course is improving!
Not a resort course but for a weekend round, it's great. Greens are in good condition, fairways are okay. They've changed the sequence of the holes and it is an improvement. The course plays much better now. They're adding new tees for the shorter hitters which should be in place probably next season. If you play it from either of the back two sets of tees, it gives you a reasonable challenge.
