Course has a great layout, big open fairways with some elevation (for a coastal Florida course). But the greens are always worn through to the dirt like the heel on an old shoe. Every year we talk ourselves into checking out Venetian Bay again. Every year our experience is the same. Beautiful layout, and could be a really nice course. But the greens are generally terrible, and the fairways are usually playable but in poor condition. I’ll give it another year... again.

This course played pretty tough as the fairways are all tightly guarded by woods and water and each green is well protected with other obstacles. Today the play was cart path only and it had recently been aerated. I know these are musts in the summer in Florida. This course penalized errant shots a little more than usual today with all the water and long grass. Fairways shots that were hit fat got mud everywhere and grabbed the clubface. Beautiful course. Low and wet. But still a great value at the discounted rate. It’s soggy.
