Paradise Golf Course
Played On 09/06/2023Paradise formerly known as Sunnybreeze
Played this 'old Florida' course and found it just as delightful as I found it 10 years ago, but greatly improved and enhanced since then.
It's been a very hot and dry summer. That stresses the grasses but the course is still very playable. The tee areas are fine, the greens are in unbelievably good conditon and the fairways are mixed as the summer heat wears on them.
There's a fine driving range reaching to forever and great putting green along side it.
Pace of play was excellent. Pro shop staff helpful and friendly. Carts are gas-engined and are in good condition.
I can think of no better way to enjoy a game of golf than to play at Paradise. It's a 12 hole course that can be played as a 9 holer or an 18 holer. The scorecard indicates which additional holes beyong the standard 12 you should play for an 18 hole round.
Note - this is not an 'easy' course. Lots of woods, lots of water in play and a few long par 5s too. But it's a place to get away from all the glitz and glamor of the 'fancy courses, and play some great golf in an old-time Florida setting.
Also a fine resaurant wit a bar on premisies if you are looking for some good eats and drink.
Try it. You'll like it.

It's a good executive course - somewhat overpriced at the moment because of the seasonal flow.
Course is in good condition and is in process of having additional homes being built on it.

Course is in very fine condition. Tees are green, fairways are fully covered - no bare spots, greens are smooth and can be tricky. This is a course I love to play regularly. Recommend to any golfer who enjoys a 2 1/2 hour round with enough challenges to keep you thinking.

Always a nice executive course. The greens are playing rough right now after aeration , slitting and sand cover, which takes the fun of the undulations away.
People are usually friendly and accommodating here, but
you can sometimes get caught behind a 4some of exceedingly slow players (who hit the ball 100 feet at a swing), and if they choose to ignore normal golf etiquette and wave a single or a 2some thru, you'll be stuck with lots of time to ponder your next shot.
Play this course. It has its own unique challenges and it's enjoyable but not easy.

For end of season time, the course is in remarkably good condition. Considering the amount of play on the course, fairways are in good shape, tees are a bit chopped but still very playable and the greens are smooth and as tricky as ever.. An especially good course to test your iron game.
Recommend any golfers to give this executive course a try and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Coure layout is good. Atmosphere is "old time" Florida. Course conditions are terrible. Fairway and Tees are bare. The only decent green was #11 - the rest of the greens are a mishmash of weeds,, sand and a few straggler blades of grass..
I'll play it again but not until the rainy season when things turn green.
Staff very helpful, cheerful and friendly.
Carts are gas driven vs electric.
Directions on the course are less than adequate for finding the next holes.
Deep Creek Golf Club
Played On 07/04/2018Deep Creek GC
Deep Creek is a really nice course to play. It's not stressful and is fairly straight forward with no hidden surprises to bite you when you're not looking (except for the occasional resident gator). Tee boxes are in OK condition, as are the fairways. Greens are in fine condition too. The cart gal is a welcome sight especially in the heat we're experiencing now. Currently, there has been a lot of afternoon thundershowers and the waters accumulate on the course and makes it cart path-only golf. With the wide fairways, there can be a lot more walking than you expected. Only downside we noticed is that there are ' local tournaments' playing and if you are unfortunate enough to get stuck behind them, you're stuck and will lose any momentum you may have built up as you wait and wait. Maybe a good idea to check with the course about any tournaments in advance of booking.
But Deep Creek is such a fun course, i would recommend it to everyone.

The weather was hot, around 93-95 in the afternoon. Course conditions surprisingly good considering recent top dressing of greens. Kingsway is always a great experience, just remember to hydrate often if you're going to play this summer. The staff is a very helpful and cheerful group and go out of their way to make your round enjoyable.

I liked this course. It's composed of 3 9 hole sections, designated red, white and blue. We played red and white which are very similar courses. Tees are in good condition as were the fairways even tho' the lack of rain has firmed the grounds. The greens run fast. Some of the greens are more challenging
the subtle undulations. The holes, in many cases, run very close to one another, some with combined/shared greens. The famous monster gator has been relocated to another location but his children are still around. The pace of play was right on the money and we finished in 4 hours 10 minutes. All in all, a very enjoyable round, and worth a repeat.

I reviewed this course previously and gave it good or very good ratings in most categories. Now a problem has arisen, especially for golfnow customers, who tend to play later in the day. Management has decided to return to the lessor many of the golf carts the course leases for their peak season, but their clientele are still here golfing which creates a shortage of golf carts especially later in the day. My last outing had myself and about 10 other players waiting for at least an hour after our scheduled tee times for golf carts. Management was surely premature in returning the carts and I do not plan to visit this course again until our visitors have returned home and the cart supply is again adequate. The course itself is a really nice executive course with undulating greens and is normally a very enjoyable experience.

Great executive course. New Management is making very positive changes. Greens everywhere are perfect.
Fairways still rough in spots but fine to play. This is just always welcome, fun, let-your-hair down course where everybody knows your name. Aqua range b4 your round gets you off to a good start. I'll be back often.
The River Club

First time playing this course and pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Proshop staff very helpful and friendly. Course itself is a treat. It is a circular course vs a butterfly...once you leave on the first hole you don't get back to starting point until after the 18th. Very spread out - this is not a walking course. A course book is provided (a la the Pro Tour) to describe the holes and distances and recommended golf shots, which proved very helpful. Fairways are good and kept smooth, rough is manageable, greens are terrific and undulating. #16 is an island green and a solid challenge. We will certainly be back for more of the same, especially with Golfnow pricing during the peak season. Highly recommended and worth driving to get to if that's what you have to do.

Course needs major work over. Many other courses around for around the same $$$ in much better condition and a much better value. Look elsewhere. Would not recommend.

New ownership has made and is making lots of positive changes at this executive course. At the moment, the restaurant/bar is closed for renovations and the 'pro' shop is a small trailer alongside the building with a few porta-pottys outside. This is just a fine hidden gem and under-rated executive golf course. Front 9 greens are immaculate; some of the back 9 greens still need some work to cover a few bare patches. fairways are good. The Par 60 course includes 6 par 4s and 12 par 3s with a sufficient variety to keep the round interesting. The course is only going to get better as improvements are introduced. I really enjoy playing a 2 1/2 hour round and plan on coming back often to this undiscovered gem!
Jacaranda West Country Club

Overall a very nice course and golfing experience. Staff are friendly, attentive, efficient and helpful. The course is nicely designed within a golf community. Water is alongside almost every fairway but distant enough that only a severely miss-hit shot will encounter it. Fairways are well groomed, greens are good except for #9 and #10 which haven't been mowed for a few days. Sufficient sand traps provide a challenge everywhere. It's a busy course but well-managed and pace of play is comfortable, not rushed and no unnecessary waiting. A fine course which should be given serious consideration by any golfer looking for an enjoyable round.
Riverwood Golf Club
Played On 12/14/2017Riverwood Golf
Riverwood Golf course is a superb facility from beginning to end. Driving range, chipping and putting areas abound. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The fairways and greens are beautiful and challenging and herein lies the rub. One downside to our round was that the entire course had been overseeded and it was cart path ONLY. This is a long course If you couldn't hit every shot alongside the cart paths, you really didn't use the cart. After your tee shot, drove on path to alongside your ball for your 1st fairway shot then carrying the clubs you needed and walked toward the hole as you advanced the ball. Back and forth to the cart was a waste of time. Lot of walking on a long course. For me, this was a downside of what I expected to be an enjoyable round. I'll play this course again, but not until the grass is established. Very pricey course 'in season'.
Heron Creek Golf and Country Club - Oaks/Marsh Course
Played On 12/11/2017Heron Creek Golf
Heron Creek is one of the golf gems in SW Florida. Superb golf course with 3 sets of 9 holes, Oak, Marsh, and Creek. Driving range, huge chipping practice area, short irons range, putting green. We played the Marsh/Creek. Wx conditions were cool for Florida, course condition was perfect...really no flaws to mention. Staff was friendly and helpful, Pace of play constantly monitored by rangers and keep things moving very smoothly. Sufficient water hazards to keep your attention (not counting numerous alligators). Definitely a course to be played again and again. A special rate on GolfNow sweetens the experience.

First time playing this course. Hesitant at first due to reviews of construction and rocky traps. Pleasantly surprised with friendly staff, cart guys, and starter. Gave us a good briefing on conditions with many bunkers being reconstructed. Advised not to play from traps - free drop. Golf carts are new and have an easy-to-use GPS setup which is a wonderful addition to the experience. Course itself is beautiful, well laid out, excellent tee boxes, carpet fairways, fairly low rough, undulating greens perfect. Wildlife galore. Pace of play was perfect and we finished under 4 hours. Will definitely play this course regularly and it will only get better as the construction winds down. And the beverage cart gal makes regular rounds so you'll never run dry! Highly recommended!
Twin Isles Country Club
Played On 10/17/2017Twin Isles Punta Gorda
AKA the Tuck Club - golfers are actually requested to tuck in their shirts regardless of weather conditions.
It's like 2 separate 9 hole courses here. The front 9 is a mess with weeds, crab grass and various mixed grass types all over on the tees and fairways, bare patches everywhere, greens need work. But the general layout and design is good.
The back 9 seems to be a different course - the tees are smooth, the fairways are kept well watered and mowed, the greens a bit more challenging but good and the overall impression is one of a nice place to play golf. The sand traps could use sand as there are substantial number of stones and rocks hidden on or just under the surface. Just a pity the front is so poorly kept!
There is some water on the course and houses built along many of the fairways but they are far enough away from the play area that it's not a concern. There is a driving range with free range balls provided, also a putting green and, I believe, a chipping green available too.
I'll play this course again and I'll make sure my shirt is tucked before I venture to the Tee!
Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Blue Heron Pines.
