Black Bear Golf Club
Played On 08/07/2014Pleasantly surprised
I had expected to play an open, worn course that skimps on maintenance. What I got was 19 holes of challenging, scenic golf. Yes this course is not cut out of a forest like most Gaylord courses but it was still very scenic. The greens were in great condition and very speedy. The only ball marks that I repaired were mine and the twosome ahead of me that didn't have a clue. The course has several blind tee shots which will change how I play this course next time. Even at the walk on rate if $39 this is an incredible value. Don't miss this course.
The Valley at Wilderness Valley Golf Resort

Every year my son and I play a good course for his birthday my treat. We knew we would be in Gaylord this week and Black Forest came highly suggested. I never even knew this resort was there. We got the 52% discount by taking the 7:30 tee time. We were the only ones there and made it to the first tee by 7:00. The only people we saw during the whole round was a twosome that we allowed to play through and a groundskeeper that followed us for a few holes. The course is challenging and the greens are anything but flat and straight but they were not as hard as others have written. I did 3 putt 8 greens but most were due to just poor putting. I really don't like paying more than $50 per round and with the discount this course is fantastic.
