Woodbridge Golf Club
Played On 02/18/2024Greens need work
I have done one of these before but I feel it needs to be brought back up. The greens especially #11 need work. There are spots that are down to dirt or sand and make you question why you paid $70.That being said it has gotten a lot better the new grounds keeper has really done a ton of work thinning out the trees around the greens and tee boxes but there is still a lot to do.
Bridges - The Masters at Firewheel Golf of Garland
Played On 11/28/2023Good in any weather
I play this course many times and most of the time its in really good shape. All 27 greens have recently been replaced with Tiff Eagle. They roll true and firm so no complaints there. The staff is great and they have remodeled the proshop
Old at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 10/01/2023Great course and great value
The old course is a super challenging course but for the money you cant beat it. The city has put money into the facility anf the staff does all they can to makr you feel welcome. The only thing I would add is a marshal on the weekends.
Old at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 09/04/2023A fantastic value for the money.
What I am about to say goes for all three courses Old/ Lakes/ Bridges. I have been playing at all three since 2014.
The staff at all three locations are fantastic. The Old / Lakes club house is a little older but the city has put money into and its really looking great. The Bridges course is more modern with better practice facilities but you cant go wrong with either one. The Lakes and Old course are in great shape but the greens roll slightly slower than the bridges. Considering the TERRIBLE shape other public courses like Twin Creeks, Ridgeview ranch and Woodbridge are in this place is a gem. Unlike those others all the greens are open and well trimmed. All the tee boxes are in great shape. A real hats off to the greens staff at these two facilities.
Old at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 09/04/2023Best bang for your buck in N Dallas
This ser of courses is in fantastic shape. While other places like twin creeks, ridgeview ranch and westridge all charge way more but still have temp greens and tee boxes. The staff at both locations are great the carts are modern and even on a holiday weekend you can be done in 4.5 hours. Its worth it take the few extra minutes and drive to Garland.

Played On 07/15/2023Great Staff Beat Up Course
The staff and the facility is top notch but the course is beat up. Until they get the tee boxes fairways and the front of the green to have grass instead of dirt i wont come back. All that being said everyone there was fantastic! The bar tender was fantastic as was the pro shop staff. If management reads this give your staff a raise.
WinStar Golf Course - RedBud
Played On 07/15/2023The course needs lots of work
I played the Redbud course because the other one was closed. The course is down to dirt on the tee boxes fairways and just before the greens. Its is not worth $100. The staff in both the restaurant and pro shop are fantastic but the course is beat up. I drove over an hour to get there and feel like it was a wasted trip. Hopefully they can fix it by next season but we will see.
The Bridges Golf Club
Played On 06/04/2023Too much for too little
I have been playing this course for at least four years if not more but the same issues keep coming back up. The staff is great and the course itself is great the problem is the constant problems with the driving range being closed. When you drive 20-40 miles to a course just to find out you cant warm up because the range is closed really sucks. You are paying $80 to play and the first three or four holes can be ruined because you are not warmed up and ready. It makes no sense. I am sorry to say this was probably my last time out there.
Old at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 05/14/2023Great Course for the money
Firewheel Old Course is celebrating its 40th anniversary and despite its age it still plays well. 10 years ago this course was rough and needed a ton of TLC and I am happy to report it has gotten it. The maintenance staff is doing a fantastic job repairing and reseeding tee boxes. They are taking out trees that have died and blown over it really is a good course and I prefer it to the Lakes course next door. The staff at the course is friendly and kind in my mind they really help make the experience great. I would recommend this course to anyone.

How can I write a bad review when I got a hole in one on the 12th hole. As I have said many times the staff here is always friendly and I can’t say enough about them. The city of Garland needs to put more money into this great course. It needs more well paid grounds crew and more TLC.
Old at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 06/20/2022Good course but the range needs help
I have played the old course for a long time and many years ago it was the neglected course out of the three at the firewheel complex. The staff has done a great job getting the course into shape. I prefer the old course over the lakes. The city of Garland needs to put money into the building and the range. The range needs to be over seeded and allowed to heal. Maybe the city could put down mats while the grass comes back. All that being said the staff at this course has always been great and the city should give them a raise.
Woodbridge Golf Club
Played On 06/20/2022Good course but needs some TLC
This course has had a lot of work done to it and I think all of it has added to the course. The next big thing that needs help is some of the greens on the back nine. 11, 12, 16, 17 have spots that are completely down to dirt and are in desperate need of re sod or re seeding. I play this course between 2-3 a month and this would be a huge plus.
Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 05/30/2022A course that has gone down hill
THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE STAFF THEY ARE GREAT!! I have played this course for the last 6 years and up until this year it has been a good course. This season the Garland Parks department has cut funding and the Old and Lakes courses have paid the price. Grass is growing into the unmaintained sand traps. The fairways are lacking and bare in many places. The carts are beat up and need to be replaced the putting green has more dirt than grass. The practice area needs to be reseeded and allowed to grow back. It’s so sad it was a great course but the way it is now I won’t be back. Like I said in the beginning this is not a reflection of the staff some of the people in the pro shop have been there for years and have always been professional and kind. Employees like this should be rewarded because they are hard to find and keep. In closing the Garland Parks Dept needs to increase the budget for the Old and Lakes courses and hire enough quality people to maintain all three courses.
Bridges - The Masters at Firewheel Golf of Garland
Played On 05/15/2022A good course with a few changes.
The bridges course at Firewheel is by far the best of the three in the complex. I played the Masters and Traditions nines yesterday and for the most part the course was in good shape. the greens rolled true and the fairways were in fantastic shape. I have played other courses in the Plano area that could learn a great deal from the grounds crew at firewheel. There were fewer people than I expected but that could have been due to the hot temps along with many people being out at the Byron Nelson.
There have been a few changes but nothing major. Two trees on the 7th hole on the masters course either fell down or were cut down. that changed how you play that par 5 but not a big deal. The addition of the MASSIVE power lines that cut the 8th hole on the traditions course down do a gap wedge shot is a little disappointing but I doubt that the course had any say in where the power lines were going. As always the practice facilities were in great shape and the staff has always been friendly. Its a great course and I would recommend it to anyone.
Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
Played On 05/08/2022Bad Greens
This course use to be great but the greens are so polluted with the Poa Anna that every put bounces and skips on its way to the hole. The greens will continue to get worse until we hit a real hot streak and the Poa dies off until then forget about it. Other than the greens there are a few areas that need some work but they are not bad. Anything that is getting work done on it is clearly marked as ground under repair. The range needs work because they are still using concrete based mats and the feed back is not the greatest. All that being said the staff was fantastic and they should not be punished for the conditions I saw on the course.
Hi, thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. We are working to get everything up to par. We have projects ongoing to recover the fairways and greens. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game, and we will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
The Trails of Frisco Golf Club
Played On 04/09/2022This course needs a ton of work
I played the course on 4/13/22 and it was terrible. The area had been hit with a massive rain storm that washed away bridges leading to greens, all of the sand in every bunker and there was dried up mud and dead fish left on the fairways. The greens were dead with the exception of a few spots of PoAnna trying to come up. This course needs to closed and the grounds crew needs to be paid the overtime they deserve to fix this course. The bunkers will need new sand because it all washed away and the course needs to be given time to heal. There is no way anyone should pay 70 for this course.
This review is not intended to say anything negative about the staff my experience with them was fine but the course needs serious TLC
Coal Creek Golf Course
Played On 11/28/2021Great Course for the money
I lived in Denver for eight months and had the chance to play Coal Creek a number of times. The first five holes really set a good tone and I would recomend this course to anyone. The Marshall Fire on 12/30/21 destroyed the houses on number 1&2 and it also took out the native grass area between 2&3. The greens were always good and each one offered its own unique challenges. I really think this would be a great place to host a company tournament. The course is still a great place to play and practice. The driving range and practice chipping green are great. in the four times I played there the staff was always great. I hope you get a chance to get out to this course in Louisville and give it a go.
Todd Creek Golf Club
Played On 06/27/2021Good course but not great
This was my second time playing here and like I said in the title it’s a good course but it needs some help. The sand was hard and was more like concrete than sand. The greens rolled very fast and pins were in very tough spots. The staff was very friendly and helpful I think they were the brightest part of my visit.
