The Black Forest at Wilderness Valley Golf Resort
Played On 08/26/2017An Embarrassment to Gaylord Golf
We had a large group arrive at 830 AM on a Saturday in August with sunny weather and temperatures in the 70's and this place was literally empty; that should have told us what we needed to know! There was one(!!) kid running the entire complex (pro shop, bar, carts, etc. when we arrived, which delayed our tee off.
Once we did tee off, the course looked like something out of a post-apocalypse movie. Over grown fairways, weeds in the bunkers, bare spots on the greens, etc. it was awful. I have seen some of the course feedback on some poor reviews on this and other web sites; they claim they are making up for some bad weather two years ago. This is blatantly untrue; I golfed this course in 2015, the first season following all of the supposed weather damage that they blame the course condition on; and the course was in indisputably better condition at that time.
This course in the right hands should be a bucket list type of play due to the wonderful terrain it is built on, however whether it be due to a lack of money or effort from management, it is a far cry from that at this point.
Marsh Oaks at Oak Ridge Golf Club
Played On 08/28/2013Got a great hot deal at a great course
played the Old Oaks course, and came away impressed, fun layout, great conditions, all around good experience. The only thing I didn't understand is why the courses regular rates charge so much more for the Marh Oaks course?? the back 9 of the Old Oaks course is weaved in between some of the holes on the Marsh Oaks course and nothing jumped out at me as to why they charge so much more to play Marsh Oaks??
Rattle Run Golf Course
Played On 08/26/2013Upscale course, great layout
Some of the best terrain in the Metro Detroit area, anyone who is tired of the flat courses that only offer the occasional dogleg for a challenge should come here, lots of rolling hills, etc. that make playing this course a lot of fun!
Heather Hills Golf Club

Wonderfully manicured course, friendly staff, fun layout, this course is tucked away a couple of narrow dirt roads away from M-59, making it literally a hidden gem!
Deer View Golf Club
Played On 8/21/2013Golf in it's most basic form
This course has a very basic layout, there's no water or sand, with OB around the perimeter, and a couple of ditch hazards. The land area that the course lays on is very small, they used every inch to squeeze in 9 holes. This is an ideal starter course for anyone who is just learning the game of golf ;staff is friendly.
Holly Meadows Golf Course
Played On 08/01/2013Couldn't come up with a single complaint if I tried!
I live in the Blue Water Area and although I don't live right by Capac, I consider this my "home course". The Hollenbeck family and their staff are fantastically friendly and helpful. The course has a nice layout, even after playing here for years I find new challenges. Best value price for what you get in the Blue Water area, I golf here about every other time I play and the only reason I ever go anywhere else is just to add some variety to my season, this place is great!
Cedar Glen Golf Club
Played On 08/28/2012Solid if not pristine
Course layout is confusing at times as there a couple of location where one tee box contains the starting point for two holes, although I realize they don't have much room to work with, as the course is surrounded by a subdivision. Many of the fairways have bare patches, which is disappointing. The course looks a bit easier than it plays, there are a few holes that demand good placement shots. Great staff.
We have been working on improving the course during this off season, including renovation. We hope you visit us throughout 2018 to view the progress we have made.
