Better than it used to be

I used to avoid this course because of the green speeds, they were always slow around 7. Today I was happy to see the greens are faster, maybe between 9 and 10. Not fast but you will now get a fair roll without having to hit it like a sledgehammer. Bunkers were good, and fairways were great shape for zoysia, nice and firm.

I was a little alarmed when I pulled in because a scramble just went out. Turned out it was just 40 guys. 45 minutes before my time and we never saw them. I was paired with a younger couple and a guy who may have been a 30 handicap. Two of us shot in the 70's, the around 90, and the other guy over 100. We played in 3:55 and never ran into the scramble. Plus we finished close to 20 minutes ahead of the group behind us, who had some members complaining about being paired with a 4th.

Good shape

Course is in good shape, greens are a little slow from normal. I don't know what they spend on maintenance, but it can't be a lot. They have better conditions than most courses their size, and I bet they don't do as many rounds as some of the others.

Thanks for the review! You may have caught us on a day that we were top dressing greens (we do this about every other week). This can cause them to be a tad slower the day of, but we do this so that we are able to keep our greens firmer, faster and healthier! We hope to see you out again soon!

Conditions are good

The course is in good shape, greens were punched a few weeks ago and have healed. Greens were close to 11 when I played. This is the best course in the area right now with the current conditions. This Club isn't private, it hasn't been for a few years, you should have zero problems getting on one of the two courses, provided they don't have an event booked.
The course has been softened the last few years through cutting back of native areas, Big Blue is much easier than it used to be, but is still a fair test of golf. You should have fun.

Same old course

If you've been here before you know that this course is always in good shape. Cold day, so I had the course to myself. Everything was in good shape, the greens have had dryject done to them. I would say they are 90% healed. They ran around 9 and smooth enough that no putts were changed because of the dryject. If we get some warm weather you probably won't be able to tell in 2 weeks.

First time out

I normally only post conditions, but this is the first time I've Played here. This course was built for the time of persimmon woods, and blades. While this isn't a very long track, 6500 from the tips, it does defend itself with narrow fairways, and a few doglegs. If you hit a shot long you could find yourself ob, as the markers are fairly close to many of the greens. It's not a hard course, if you hit it all over the place you could get in trouble.

Conditions were good, fairways and rough were in good shape. Greens were rolling about ten, they did have Poa on them, but it didn't effect anything. Bunkers were well maintained, so you can be consistent if you find yourself in one. They have not punched the greens yet.

current condition

I hope this course can make it back to what it used to be. The course was a little rough on this trip, but playable. I played a few holes with some residents/members and they said that there was either some problems with getting help on the crew, or some problems with some of the mowers.
Fairways were good, but were cut a little long, some of the fairways looked like they hadn't been cut for awhile, and had some patchy spots that were growing higher than the rest of the fairway.
Tee boxes were good, but the mow height is pretty high.
Greens were ok, running on the slower side, maybe 8's, and a couple had some spots that died over the winter, but those areas don't come into play. The greens will be punched on the 26th.
several bunkers that were never really in play have been removed, and the 3 bunkers I was in, didn't look the best, but they all had sand and played fairly consistently. That's better than some of the other courses in the area can say.
Overall it looks like this place got a late start on the season, once the greens get punched, and they get the mowing program up an running they should get in better shape in the next few weeks.

They are a little behind other local courses for this time of year, but you shouldn't have any real problems if you come play here. still managed to shoot 74

spring conditions

greens were firm rolling around 9 , they won't punch the greens until fall, so you are good to go. Rough was thick and growing. This course is normally pretty busy, but not this day, I played in 2:40 and didn't see anybody on the back 9

Call ahead

Greens were punched 10 days ago, they have about 2 more weeks left to heal. They rolled ok, and ran around 8 on the stimp. The fairways are being punched and dragged. We had to play the front 9 twice since the back was closed.
These are Soysia Fairways, and the dragging process is some sort of thatch removal, so they are thinning the grass in the FW a good amount.

Early May round

This round was after a night with plenty of rain, so we were cart path only. The course was holding a lot of water, especially in areas of the rough.
Greens did appear that they were cut, but were really slow, maybe a 7.5 or an 8 on the stimp. These were the slowest greens I've played in about a month.
The Zoysia fairways were back to life and were a little long, again due to the rain.
The rough is around 4 inch mark right now, so if you don't hit it in the fairway, you will spend a few minutes looking for your ball. Once you find it, you can only hack it out and advance it 50 to 100 yards. We got more rain when I got home, so I don't see how they can cut the rough until next week depending on the amount of rain we get.
We are only a few warm days away from getting this course closer to summer conditions.
You can have a fun round here, although you will be paying the highest rack rate for publics in the area.

good shape early spring

I used to be a member here. The course was in better shape than it has been for a couple years at this time. In April the course is normally pretty soft and you play where it flies, is where it stays.
Greens on this visit were firm and fast, probably running close to 11 on the stimp. Unrepaired ball marks really didn't show up this visit due to firmness.
The Fairways were firm and you could get a fair amount of roll. You only see these conditions a few times a year, generally in late summer.
Bunkers were all prepped and appeared to have enough sand in them.
They have softened the course the last few years by cutting much of the Heather. This should speed up play. My only suggestion would be to control when groups tee off, or pair groups together. There are a few too many that pay and just jump on the tee box. It can slow the play down.

Conditions

This course used to be good, but now it needs a lot of work. Fairways were high, most bunkers need work and the greens were really slow about a 6.5 stimp. Pretty good amount of poa on the greens too. Good news it was Mother's Day so nobody was playing. I was able to play in 2 hours.

Nice course

I played this course as part of a tournament, so I don't really know what the green fees normally are. The course is a nice course, with many up hill approach shots. This will normally require you to hit an extra club and be aggressive, the greens will hold. The greens check more than any bent greens I have ever played on, maybe just a bigger blade strain. Fairways were firm, and the rough shows signs that it will go dormant in the next few weeks, but you still have some time before then.

My only complaint about the course are the bunkers. There is too much sand in them and you will get a fried egg most of the time and that will cost you several strokes.
I would come back again, but would really want to see it in the spring when the course is in the prime growing period.

Conditions are good now

This might be the hardest course I have played. It's much harder than tpc sawgrass. Conditions on this visit were probably the best I've seen in years, and better than earlier in the summer. The fairways were firming up and you were getting some extra distance as a result. Greens were medium speed, and were a little firmer than in the past. I always thought they kept the greens too wet in the past. This course will beat you up, but playing firm and fast made it more enjoyable. Take advantage while these conditions last.

ok

Very busy day. There is nothing really hard about this course at all. The greens were in ok shape, with plenty of grain in them. I am not really up on golf in this area, but this course reminds me of just a simple public type of course. Conditions were the worst I played down here. the others were King and Bear, and Stadium so you know there is nothing to compare there.

If you are looking for a cheap course to play this might be an option.

stressed course

This was the first time playing this course, so I can say the course is a little goofy to me. There many holes where you have to lay up with a Iron off the tee, and many holes you can't hit driver period. This course runs through a neighborhood, and you will find this course pretty tight. It might be one of the tightest I have played in a housing development.

On my visit they had cart path only because they were scared to hurt their fairways. The greens are pretty stressed and I think they are putting too much water on everything. This will only promote more disease. I had mudballs all day and it was 90 degrees. This course is right on the edge, and I think due to overwatering they will go downhill.

Getting into fall conditions

End of summer is kicking in. The course is in pretty good condition. They have done the small tine punch on the greens, it doesn't effect your putts though. Greens were running at a medium pace. I don't know how late in the year they will actually do the full green punches, but I would guess it would be mid to late October.

Late summer has hit.

most greens have areas on them where they have lost the green and have turned black. but those areas are not large, and there are enough good areas on the greens to place pins. in those good areas you could get a fairly smooth putt. I would say they rolled 9. Tee boxes and fairways were ok, they did have crabgrass growing on them. I guess you can see lack of state money to really keep these courses up the way that they should be. I got this on a hot deal, and I wouldn't pay full price this time of year. Maybe in the spring when the course is in the best condition it can be in.

Also this is mountain golf I would advise that you have plenty of balls, I even lost a couple and played fairly well.
