Westerwood Hotel Golf Club
Played On 09/07/2018Long course
I do like the course and the overall condition was ok. But I had a few major issues with it.
The tee off boxes are shocking the rough is an absolute joke and needs cut back as the minute you're ball goes in you can almost guarantee its a dropped shot.
Unfortunately for this I won't be back this year. But the biggest concern was how the greens play. I've never seen a green spiked as much. So much so the ball bounces so bad that unless you're a few feet from the hole you won't be one putting

Played On 06/27/2018Finally the summer is here
The last few weeks we have had great weather which has changed the course to a very very good course. Some beautiful holes. Ok a little dry bit better that than wet. 14th hit a drive down the hill and 9 iron to the back of green to watch the ball roll to 5 feet of the hole for my 1st EVER eagle. Then to follow up with a birdie. Right now this course is so much better than it's been in many many years. Play it while the sun is here. You won't regret it.
Hi there,
Thanks for your comments and delighted that you enjoyed the course - eagles are always rare birds and should be cherished! Hope to see you up at the club again soon.

Played On 05/09/2018Not for the unfit golfer
Well played this course for the 1st time on 09/05/2018.
For once we had the sun and not much wind. This course isn't for the unfit as it's "very hilly". Next time I play I'll book a golf cart. But that's the down side. The up side is some beautiful golf holes and stunning looking greens. If a little hard to read one plays slow while another is slick and fast.
The views on a clear day are breath taking. This course is value for money if you get a good deal on tee off times. As not sure I'd pay full price when you factor in the cart you really NEED to hire. If you haven't played the course then please you must try it.
Oh one draw back the lack of markers on the blind holes in which there are a lot of was a bit of a pain. I was lucky my mate has played this course a few time. Other wise it was hit and hope.

Played On 05/01/2018Well after playing this course as a kid growing up. I remember how it used to be. And last year was the first time I'd played golf in 18 years. And the course was in a shocking state. But decided to play it last week, and the difference was fantastic. Still nowhere near as good as years back but is getting there. The 12th dog leg hole was still in poor shape but once you get around the bend the fairway looks much better and the green is a huge one but was in amazing condition after the weeks of rain.
Overall I seen much improvements to the course since last playing it.
Value for money?? I'd say no as you can play better courses for less. Unless you get a deal. But for a council course. You WILL NOT FIND A BETTER COURSE.
