Legend at Arrowhead, The
Played On 04/02/2021Fun course with character
I am an average weekend golfer. My standards are a touch above bottom grade golf courses. And, since these golf courses tend to get scattered reviews, with judgments against them based on comparisons of either out of state courses, or courses with 2 or 3x green fees, I thought I would comment.
The greens are immaculate.
The traps are stiff, and everyone rates this course lower because of it. But I’ve yet to find a course at this price point with nice bunkers, ironically (considering we are in the desert). If you find one, please let me know.
The roughs weren’t too bad, more grass than dirt. Way more.
Fairways are clean.
Water makes it fun, but is not too difficult to avoid.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because there were no yard marker sticks, only stones in the fairway. But I wasn’t about to run all over the fairway to find it, or guess between that and a sprinkler. I didn’t have binoculars, so I just guessed most the time.
Overall, round was fun. I’ll be back (once I have those binoculars!) :-).
Scottsdale Silverado Golf Club
Played On 05/10/2018Great Scottsdale Golf for limited budget
You could spend well over $100 to play golf in Scottsdale, but this course is pretty good for much less! First time playing, and I had family coming in from California for my graduation. Decided to take my dad here. The 18-hole layout is nice with a cart. I would not recommend walking, as there are some spots you have to go 1/2-3/4 of a mile to the next hole. Grass is green. The fairways are wide, great for a slicer like me. The greens are challenging: fast, and with steep bunkers all around to collect your missed shot. Some tee-boxes make you have to get the ball in the air to get it down the fairway. Excellent views to stop and take a group photo in places. There is also plenty of shade with the mature desert flora, something not found at many newer, "better" courses. Cart-ladies came around frequently, and the Marshall monitored pace of play frequently. There is no range, but they have a driving net and chipping/putting greens. We had a blast, and will definitely be back.
